Can you please clarify the ping issue fix?

The patch notes indicate that “incorrect ping was displayed”. This could be interpreted as the fix being made to the display value, rather than a fix to the issue that was causing high latency for players.

Can you please confirm if the latency issue was actually fixed, or if the ping indicator was simply altered to give the impression of a lower ping.

What was expressed to me was that with the update, the behaviour of the systems relating to latency have reverted to their previous state. I'm told the issues primarily related to the information that was displayed to you. Natrually you'll be best placed tomorrow to tell us how you feel it behaves and changed for you following the update.

It varies around the Nation. Pickled Cucumber is largely acceptable, Gherkin is more common. Pickle is a Chutney of sorts otherwise here in the UK.

It was originally planned to be an update that shared what I've shared here. Our next blog is going to be wholly focused on Private Games.

Yes, they are also better with bacon.

What exactly happened to those " Changes to MMG Gameplay "

Or is Dice's preferred fix to the overly restrictive playstyle of MMG's to make them even more restrictive and to assure both sides experience rectal cancer in equal measure? Because I really don't see what else the bipod change intended to do

We've focused on first altering Prone Gameplay. We have also explored a change to Bipod behavior but we want to do some more exploration on this first. We're conscious that changing too much on this could send the MMG gameplay wildly off the other end of the scale rather than bring it more fairly into balance.

Coupled with the changes we made last month to Recoil with MMG's, we're keen to see how this affects prone MMG behaviour first and then we'll continue to monitor and tweak further.

Hi folks,

In our 4.6 update, we’re delivering fixes and improvements across the Battlefield experience, alongside big changes to the icons we use to help players gain awareness of nearby Health/Ammo/Repair opportunities, further changes to Prone Gameplay as advertised last month, and more balance changes for weapons - including a specific focus on Pistols.

We’re also pleased to say that Al Sundan will be made available on Conquest and Breakthrough shortly after the release of this update, and that with this patch we’re delivering the base files for Operation Underground in preparation for its launch in October.

This update also rectifies the display issues related to latency, fixes the issues with loot in Firestorm, and improves the responsiveness of Revives across both Battlefield V Multiplayer, and Firestorm.

Our full update notes are below - see you on the Battlefield.

Heu /u/PartWelsh ! Thanks for the update, I can't wait for the patch notes.

Since we're talking about expectations and you guys are currently ripping off the bandage somehow: about the Firestorm improvements, is there an actual chance it will end up being cancelled or is it just on hold for now and you'll definitely take more time to finish it later?

Something being on hold isn't usually a good sign and to be honest, I'd rather prepare myself for not seeing those Firestorm improvements instead of waiting and being disappointed.

Disclaimer: I totally understand Firestorm isn't a priority and TBH, it's not for me either... I'm... curious, I guess.

If it was straight up cancelled, I would have been instructed to communicate it as cancelled. The honest answer is simply as put in the post, our focus (and therefore resource) is focused on restoring quality for the mass of players. The closer we get to that goal, the sooner I'll learn what the decision is regarding finishing the work that was started here.

So after the server came back up the other day, wasn't there some text notice in game that the next chapter (Chapter 5) was coming in March 2020? Or did I imagine that in a fever dream.

That was an error - it was incorrectly duplicating the Messaging that was ran after Chapter 2, bridging to Firestorms release in Chapter 3, but had somehow added a year.

Whats the difference between delivered and live?

Is it simply a flick of a switch that makes it live, or is it more complicated than that? I'm sure you could understand how people would be frustrated if the map is in the game, but isn't playable due to some arbitrary release date, especially when we are in dire need of maps.

More complicated. Quality in the content is the number one focus for us and we need to be doubly thorough with our content releases. Since 4.0's launch, we've added two large scale maps to the game that generated issues. Al Sundan had a significant issue in both our pre-testing, and retail builds of the game that encouraged us to do more work on it. Marita was the same (the glint issue). We're delivering the files this week, and giving ourselves the opportunity to ensure that it's working correctly before setting it live.

Well that's very good news Freeman. Frankly the "radio silence" imo made it worse as it made people jump to conclusions on stuff that had no reply from you guys.

This is good stuff. Hopefully with us cooperating we can bring this game to its place it deserves

Completely fair comment.

Uhm, that's not what people expected. And I'd really vote for you to at least post that in the opening post above, since it's important. People expected the map to be live tomorrow (rather than All SoonDone, but won't nitpick there :D).

I've edited my post to contain that comment. And I understand completely that this isn't your expectation. There's confused messaging out there relating to this - it's listed as October in the Trailer shared before EA Play and then unfairly detailed in a way that suggests it's active vs. delivered in our 4.6 Update. This occurred in both our 4.4 Update Notes, and the Blog Post from Ryan in August.

It's not something we have the ability to undo at this stage other than to highlight the facts as we have them.

So uh, thanks for finally breaking the silence but why are things going so slow? Why arent we hearing more? Its always the same "We cant say more than [insert standard phrase] we'll update you later"

Why assure us communication will get better if you are not planning on keeping that promise?

The standard for us has to be that we're communicating accurate and correct information (as best as we have it). Changes to previously announced content necessitates that we get all of the correct information before we're able to communicate, and if we're not satisfied that we have that, or feel that there's a chance for further changes, we need to be more measured in our response.

Leaving folks in the dark isn't something that I'm a fan of, and it's important that when you're shown or informed about new or upcoming content in the future that the content we're talking about is more firmly locked to avoid any disappointment. or more instances where we're in a position having to wait before opening the conversation.

4.6 is a strong update - it's put us back in a place where we're all optimistic for a warmer reception, and a hope that you'll start to see and feel the effort that we're putting into the game to help earn back your confidence.

So as of 4.6

Its al sundan then

This should bring an end to that behaviour as well. We don't enjoy any scenario where we're silent on a topic but until we had 100% percent confirmation where we stood with the various topics of discussion, it wasn't proper for us to bring you an update or frustrate you with 'soon'.

There's been no changes to our plans for Operation Underground. We are delivering the files for this map in this weeks update and will set it live in October.

Hey folks,

Later today, I’ll be posting our 4.6 update notes. Prior to that, I wanted to set some expectations for the content previously shared for Chapter 4, and give you some insight on what to expect with this update.

Update 4.6 - This launches tomorrow. We’ve seen positive results on the top 3 Issues that we’ve been tracking since the launch of 4.4, and we’re confident that we’ll be seeing a resolution to the High Ping, and Firestorm Loot issues that have been affecting players this month. Big thanks for your patience whilst we got those resolved - there’s tons of other fixes and improvements in this months update so check back later today for the full notes.

Al Sundan - No update is complete without some Al Sundan. This map will go live on Conquest and Breakthrough following the release of this weeks Update on all three platforms.

Private Games - Our September update will not enable Private Gam...

It’s a bug - the team messaged me just now to say it’s being restored to its correct value.

It’s a rare skin so it’s due to be sold for CC.

Correct - our rotation see's it return to purchase via The Company (not The Armory) a week after it's TOW Debut has ended.

This only applies to gameplay affecting content and not cosmetics (which also includes Melee items)
