So, u/partwelsh , just to be absolutely clear, for players who like the full, classic, combined arms experience in conquest, who haven’t gotten anything at all since Mercury, we have to sit and hope that maybe Al-Soondan will finally be fixed by the end of September? And if not, we will have to wait until the Pacific?

Maps this year:

Mercury - pretty bad for armor, really just used to camp and shell C; great for planes though

Al-Sundan - still just available for small modes

Marita - Just infantry and transport vehicles

Provence and Lofiten - not even available on Conquest

Metro remake - infantry only

Seriously, when you remember that Conquest is the flagship gamemode of the franchise, this is just pathetic.

I won’t disagree with you on your assessment here. Infantry only players are being better catered too and if you’re the full old school Battlefield fan, you’ve seen less fresh new content that makes you feel appreciated.

I can’t change your perspective on the content that’s coming in the next month or so, or the content that’s been released since EA Play. I also won’t ask you to place trust in any words that I won’t be giving you in relation to the Pacific and what’s next for Battlefield - not because I don’t have the confidence in it (I massively do) but because I can respect your present relationship with the game and that you’re going to need to see and feel it to be convinced otherwise.

We will focus on restoring quality. We will focus on delivering content. We will focus on sharing with you where we are on that journey, and then when we feel we’ve reached our goals, we will start challenging you on your perspective. Until then, your feedback is fair and heard...

Neither me or Jeff are blind to it. We will put the information out there with 0 expectation of it changing anyone’s mind - but we will still put the information out there.

They did the same with Al-Sundan lol

We did.

We said it was coming on one date, we discovered a problem and we came back to you all to tell you that this was problem and that it was something we needed to keep working on.

We will keep communicating information as and when we have it.

We presently have no reason to believe that it’s not coming in September and until the day that changes, this is when it will release.

If it isn't, we'll say so. The plan is September, we've been playing it here today at gamescom and folks have been posting their opinions on it online.

Strengths are the scale and gunplay. I’d personally like to see better balance on vehicles - I don’t ever struggle to 1v1 a tank (with me as infantry) and that doesn’t sit right with me personally. In BF4 I would be terrified to charge at a tank with C4 but I find it a lot easier on V (and I volunteer this as someone who doesn’t play as a Tanker much - the balance for me just doesn’t feel right and I know that leads to a lot of tankers spending more time out of the combat sitting back and not pushing a lane because it’s just too risky) - completely personal opinion. I’d be keen to see us improve social features too and just make it that bit easier to see where our friends are (server wise) and help people understand what they’re queuing for when they’re trying to join on a friend. For me, I’m happy to just be in the same server but I recognise that for others they’d prefer the opportunity to queue for a slot on the same side.

I think balance should exist in all games but B...

I'm with you there. I was thinking the other day, nothing in BF is truly random, every bullet and every explosion came from a real person and has intent, it's crazy to think about honestly. What is your play style and how do you use that to PTFO, you say you back cap so I'm guessing you enjoy vehicles LOL

Playstyle is largely flanking. I don’t mind dipping out of combat for 3 minutes to get the drop on a position, but it will vary depending on the map. If it’s an objective mode like frontlines or breakthrough I’ll try play aggressive and do what I can to motivate the frontline to push. Vehicle wise I’ll drive transport and second gunner tanks with friends who I know how to make use of them. Otherwise it’s back cap the quiet flags, fortify and waste as much of the enemies time and resource trying to get it back from me and the squad in the hope it opens up holes elsewhere.

That's a very fair and actually empathic response. I didnt expect any response either to be honest so its surprising too.

I can only imagine what it must be like on the other side of the curtain, and when I do I do feel for you. It's a tough situation.

I guess I'll just say again that I hope everyone knows it's nothing personal (except maybe the odd poster here and there) and mainly just a bunch of people blowing off steam and being stupid on reddit.

Have a good day/night mate

Thanks! It’s odd being on the other side of the stage for sure. I have the benefit of seeing where we are going, and knowing just how passionate the folks who are responsible for making that happen are. I get to play around with all the sh*t that’s cooking, I get to watch as the decisions get made to agree to stop chasing certain tweaks to gameplay and that process restarting to find other ways forward.

Short version - I see the light at the end of the tunnel. As a rule, we don’t take the criticism personally, but we do take it for what it is - Criticism. It’s only personal when the bad eggs make it personal but the mods who own and run the sub are pretty fair with their application of the rules so it’s rare that stuff gets shown.

Big mad sh*t. Having that feeling where when you’re running between flags (I do a lot of hooning around back capping) and whilst running, you look up and just see a mad battle going on in the distance with planes zooming around, tanks knocking ten bells out of each other and the kill feed just chewing up with names. I love that concept that there’s all these stories being told all at once.

It's nothing personal but that's what reddit is for. Not so much relevant to this thread as it is this sub the last couple of days.

It’s different strokes for different folks - I was an active poster on /r/footballmanagergames for years - sub didn’t see any attention or love from SI Games but that didn’t affect anyone’s enjoyment or appreciation of the game (or the sub for that matter).

I think part of the culture that’s been built up here is based around the fact that not only myself and Jeff, but other devs too, are active on the sub. Folks know that we browse and so they’re happy to voice their opinions on topics with the expectation that we see it. I’m not opposed to it, but I’m sensitive to what gets lost in the process. It’s always great seeing memes and daft sh*t being posted up (not to detract anything from the criticism posted), but seeing people enjoying both the game and each other - we all get a kick out of th...

I haven't ever threatened to leave Reddit. I've posted a comment suggesting that I'll need to withdraw from commenting on topics where I'm injecting my personal opinion during conversation if folks are going to be unable to acknowledge when I'm volunteering a personal perspective on something for fear of it being misrepresented.

This is an issue that has been carried over from BF1. Basically during retreat teammates can still spawn on your vehicle despite you being out of bounds for them. If they spawn on you, the desertion timer starts ticking on their end, and once it runs out the game destroys the vehicle killing all of its occupants. Quite an oversight.

Paging /u/partwelsh /u/lytlb1t

Thanks for the flag on that

I do have a request ( if it can be done ). I’m really looking forward to seeing what’s the Imperial Japanese Soldiers are going to look like! Could you post a picture of one of the character models?

Thank you my friend!

Nope - not till we're dev final on content for the Pacific.

IIRC only one gun in June. Supposedly there are 5-6 guns (can't remember how many) shown in the chapter 4 trailer but for some reasons they keep giving away skins for the starter weapons or melee guns, it's like they don't want to release them.

/u/Braddock512 /u/PartWelsh I know you have nothing to do with this but please tell the trailer team to stop putting stuff in trailers that will not be in the game. They've been doing it ever since the reveal trailer, there's still stuff shown in the MP trailers that was not in the beta, there is a gun (Sjogren) shown in the "This is Battlefield V video that is nowhere to be seen in game, the beta had skins that yet again are nowhere to be seen. Why are you (DICE) marketing your game with stuff that for some reasons you (DICE) are not willing to release? A...

Yo - Here's what I can update you with.

Weapons: We've got the Panzerbüchse 39, Trench Carbine and Breda M1935 PG tentatively set to drop during the final three weeks of the Chapter. We've talked about these previously and the intent is still to deliver them during Chapter 4 (in the order listed above). If that changes, I'll let you know.

Maps: Lofoten Islands and Provence are set to launch with update 4.4, which is tentatively set for the end of the of the month. We have both of these maps at Gamescom with us, and we're bringing folks o...

Thanks for the link.

Comes with the territory. It's a shame because it goes against what Reddiquette is (downvote if it's not contributing to the conversation), but for some the downvote is their opportunity to voice frustration.
