We agree it’s too low. In the next release we’re bumping it up to 40.

I got into Mythic very early this season entering at rank 38 or something but am bouncing around 350-450 currently. Do I need to maintain below 500 still or am I ok to not worry as either I was one of the first 500 people in or not and me playing now won't affect that?

You are understanding correctly. Selection for this will be based on when you entered Mythic, not your current numeric placement.

Does anyone have clarification on what "first 500 players" means? I thought the deal before was the top 500 by tomorrow, but first 500 implies it's the earliest. I feel like the player base is huge and that there have to be 500 people at Mythic by now, so have I already missed my window? Is it worth grinding drafts?

The "Early August" season will award entries to the top 500 Mythic players, while the "Late August" season will award entries to the top 1,200 players as usual.

Apologies for the ping, but /u/WotC_Jay would you be able to clarify if your statement here is different from the one from the State of the Game abo...

It's "first", not "top" in this case. I don't what current data looks like, but by this point in a month we usually don't have 500 Mythics in draft yet.

We don't love using "first" here, but, because of the way our Mythic leaderboard works and updates, we can only get a totally accurate list of "top" after a season has completed and there are no more matches happening. So, as a one off here, we're using "first" because we need to pull a well-ordered list mid-season.

100-cards. From here on out, if we say "Historic Brawl" and don't qualify otherwise, it will mean 100-card.

Why are these being kept away from existing players?

I can't see how these decks have anything to do with the upcoming delayed releases.. but ok.

It's the process of running the granting for the existing players that creates problems here.

We're aware and looking into this. Until we can get a fix out, CS will be able to help anyone affected but this.

Are there 2 different sets of 2 card styles to collect for August 10th and August 31st, or are they the same? Thanks in advance. :)

2 sets - The "early August" season has different style rewards than "late August"

That’s coming with this release

Yup; we're interested to watch how perpetual plays out here. We think it can be fun and fair, barring a few cards, but if we learn otherwise we'll change our plans.

And Pioneer in the future right?

To that end, he confirmed that they are going to ensure Standard, booster drafts, and other tabletop formats remain intact the way they are now

And Pioneer in the future right?

I just want to know if it dead for good, officially. To me, Modern will be too expensive in 5 year to be worth in MO and tabletop. Pioneer could be a alternative but maybe that is why they think is better to let it die. Just want to have the official word.

Not dead. Still something we want to do, but not something we have the bandwidth to put on a schedule currently. We're working to fix that, but with no clear timeline we felt it right to communicate that it was paused. We talk often about how to make this work (it's come up for me multiple times this week, for example).

They should just errata perpetual to not stick on commanders.

This was discussed, and if we see more problems than we expect it's on the table. But there's also a lot of fun to be had via perpetual buffing of commanders, and some fair-play debuffing too. We want to see how that goes first.

Also, the set's code is J21 (as in the url below)

A note on setcodes here: Reprints from Modern Horizons 1 are MH1, Modern Horizons 2 are MH2, reprints that were already on Arena use that set code, and the new, digital-only cards and other reprints (that weren't already on Arena) use J21.

Any reprint in Jumpstart: Historic Horizons that was already on Arena is using a version already on Arena.

There's a breakdown at the end of this article: https://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/magic-digital/what-mtg-arenas-jumpstart-historic-horizons-2021-07-26

For the 372 new-to-MTG Arena cards:

13 Mythic Rares

56 Rares

123 Uncommons

180 Commons

For the total of 767 non-land cards:

13 Mythic Rares

85 Rares

286 Uncommons

383 Commons

I entered the original event 62 times and then 18 more on the second event to end up at 74% complete on rares before diminishing returns stopped me from trying to finish. That was 80 x 2 = 160 Bo1 games needed to play even at a 100% win rate.

This set is smaller by about 1/3, so I will probably cap out at 52 entries, give or take, before diminishing returns again gets too steep. That would be 104 Bo3 matches. I think that is a lot more games to play. Average for Bo3 is 2.5 games so that is about 62% more games to play for the rewards even though the set is 2/3 the size.

Lucky for me, I like the format.

The best-of-three line is a goof in the article; it's getting fixed.

Thanks for the comment. We're aware that some miscreants fine people don't always use the launchers, and are working on better tech & processes to make sure you don't miss out.

Also, BTW, there was a new patch released today that fixes a couple bugs, so you probably want to re-run that EGS launcher.
