Don't worry. I'm with Project Zomboid for over a decade now, ever since they sold the first version on their website. A very slow burn, but they steadily kept going, so I kept supporting such a promising title. Odd Realm is also one of those promising games.

Limited Vertical Paths

Do archers / ranged units on walls work now too? Or would they still try to path off of them to reach an enemy?

Archers will work on walls. However, they do need line of sight to fire. What I like to do--and it works very well--is give them a hold position order on a tower or wall. They will sit up there and fire arrows down on the incoming enemies. Without the hold position order, there is the chance they move to a better position if the enemy exits their line of sight.

I am so hyped and excited! Thank you so so much for your continued hard work on this wonderful gem of a game!

Thanks for the kind words, my friend :)

Congrats on moving it out of beta! :D

Thanks so much! It’s a huge relief

The Sacred Scrolls expansion is an update I've worked on for a long time. It is the foundation for all future expansions of Odd Realm, and can be thought of as the creation of the planet Odd. Previous versions were more of a proof-of-concept. I'm excited to have this update finally completed because it means I can start to tell the story of the world, and add in all the great content I've planned with the help of the community. New playable races, overworld kingdoms, overworld diplomacy, more items, more blueprints, more everything. There's a lot of work to do, but I'm stoked! I wouldn't be here without the support from all of you. You've been incredibly patient waiting for me to add things to the game, and I want to express how thankful I am for your interest in the game, and your support. As a solo dev, it has never felt lonely because I've had all of you keeping me company. Thank you!

Also, because this expansion had to change a lot of the core systems (namely, variabl...

This is (please god) the final hotfix patch before beta goes to the live production branch. Apologies for how long this is taking to go live! I'm at the point where I'm doing several hour playtests to find those bugs and tuning issues that arise during long play sessions. I found a few more things which I've listed below:

-Fixed a bug where s...

Would it be possible to add a toggle between degrees F and C?

No, because Odd Realm's temperature isn't in either of those. It's in Asters which is 0 = freezing, 100 = on fire.

Is there a way to type in amount to sell/buy with merchant? It might be nice to sell 500 of something without clicking the up arrow 500 times.

Yep, just click the box with the current amount of items. It's the box with 0/100 (or whatever amount of items you have in the settlement.) It brings up an input window.

Nice, adjustable threat level is something I will probably use! And separate plank and log blocks is a nice touch.

Glad you like that!

Thanks for the report. I have a fix coming in the next few hours. Sorry about that!

Hello and happiest of Fridays to you!

https://i.redd.it/z9jc3fn38hl81.gif

I was hoping that today I would be switching the beta branch over to the live branch. Sadly, I ran into a lot of tuning/progression stuff that I wasn't comfortable pushing live just yet. Today's patch should fix a few things that stood out to me, and I'm sure they stand out for you too.

Threat Tuning

I've altered how bandits, and other threats get activated. Previously, I activated threats based on how much time had passed. As well, to get certain threats such as bandits, you'd have to settle a 'bandit' tile, or some such. I felt that this was rather tough to tune, and didn't seem that organic. ...

Thanks, my friend. It feels good. I'm excited to get passed this stuff because I can finally move onto implementing races and fun overworld map stuff.

So very excited for the new music! Thank you, as always, for the updates and your passion for your game. Odd Realm has quickly become one of my favorite games, and I am so excited to see its development continue.

Thanks so much for the support! Keeps me going

Hello!

https://i.redd.it/agafqpinrnk81.gif

This is a shorter list of patch notes today as I focused a lot of last week fixing up and adding in-game events. There are quite a few fixes related to combat in there as well. Plus, I've done some optimizing related to a GPU bottleneck some players might have been experiencing.

Regarding events, I've gone through a bunch that were disabled for the beta and have enabled them and fixed issues that kept them from working properly. As well, some of the game's bosses are now quite a bit more involved and powerful. Each has their own special set of abilities. As you can see in the above gif, the Dweller shoots a beam of energy at nearby player entities, carvi...

Good Afternoon!,

I can't even imagine the response I would get if I sent "All you do is try to make me feel bad" in my professional career to my clients who gave me criticism.

I wasn't trying to make you feel bad. I was giving feedback about the game. Feedback on the game is what you want from your customers. If getting negative feedback causes games NOT to be made, that's a personal development opportunity for the Dev. There are contractors, dentist, lawyers, who are amazing! at their profession but fail cause they do not have the business side of things. They can't take critics, can't balance books, can't market and advertise, etc.

If I didn't care, I wouldn't have posted at all. :-) Best of luck.

Yep. Best of luck to you too! :-)))
