After Winds of Magic getting 'Mostly Negative' reviews on Steam (the reception was a bit too harsh, imo), I was really rooting for Grail Knight to at least get 'Mostly Positive' reviews so that it can catch the attention of folks who aren't aware of how much Fatshark has improved the game since the beginning of the year. Unfortunately, as it stands right now, Grail Knight is sitting at overall 'Mixed' reviews, with cosmetics and challenges being kept behind the upgrade and "a grail knight not fitting with the theme of the game" being main complaints, as far as I can tell.
I admit, going so far as to include challenges for the career and the basic cosmetics behind an additional paywall is a bit weird, but if it's a trade-off for getting free maps as good as the Curse of Drachenfels, then it's something I'm more than willing to pay for. We basically got a new map pack and a new career, complete with cosmetics, for a few more bucks than the price of past map packs. As for the criticism of a grail knight not fitting with Vermintide, I disagree completely as I believe it fits wonderfully with Kruber's character, that of a disillusioned veteran.
I'm really glad that the reception on this sub has been super positive (again, as far as I can tell) and I wanted to add to that as I don't want Fatshark to get discouraged because this is the exact kind of content I'd like to see more of, and I'm guessing a lot of you folks do too. It's just a shame that those who aren't willing to go the extra mile and seek out community hubs other than the store page might get put off by the 'Mixed' reviews.
