I have a laptop with SSD, only around 275 gb of free space overall. Why does this game take up so much space? I really want to play it more but every time I do I feel like I am using up so much unnecessary space that I could use for games with bigger scale like Total Warhammer 2. Is this something the devs plan on patching up? I know it used to be like 35gb on release, is it the DLCs inflating the size? As it stands, I'm restricted to playing V1 because it takes up half the space, and it kinda sucks because V2 for the most part just feels like a straight upgrade.

Well, that's a shame. V2 was actually like 35gb on release or something, which was why I was so floored when I tried reinstalling to find it was over 100gb now. Was hoping Fatshark might be able to do some optimization after the fact but looking at it now I'm starting to doubt that. Guess it wouldn't kill me to invest in a small EHD, could store Nexus mods on there too because NMM does a similar file duplication thing that bloats the hell out of file size. Still kinda sucks though. Thanks for the quick and respectful response.

We can reduce the file size and we do plan on doing that down the line.

This is called a remaster -- not in the sense of making it an old game look better, but rebuilding the game file structure. The pros of this are a reduced file size. The cons? You gotta basically redownload most of the game as the bundles will be different.

EG*: We remaster and the game comes out at 70gb, nice! That's a 40gb saving!

Monkeypaw! Now everyone has to download a 60+gb update.

Hey! Thanks for the response man! Glad to hear it's on the table. Do you have any clue when such a remaster might release down the line? I hope that's not asking too much, but I do really want to start getting into V2 as soon as I can, and saving 40gb of space would be a GODSEND for my computer. Thanks again, bro!

We want to time the remaster with a big content drop so that you don't have to download almost a full game of assets just before we drop a lot of new content ending up with another with another big download. It's a balance for sure
