Fatshark told us they don't make their deadlines public /roadmap/ don't give us a date for future dlcs or content.

Having no public deadline, discourages motivation and efficiency for the employees in Fatshark

  • "oh there is a problem, oh okay we simply release the content 2 weeks/2 months later, no problem we didn't have a deadline. (or drop the content completely)

instead of

  • "oh there are some unexpected bugs, oh okay, guys we have to work some overhours and stop doing coffee breaks, instead we should now really focus on getting a stable content patch up. Guys we have a deadline.

  • If the team gets to close to the deadline, they could hire some people for a limited time or so.

  • Also if you tell the community " Hey we have encountered some serious problems with the new content, we give you some teasers, but we need to delay the content for 2 weeks, -> Customers would understand, but appreciate that FS is honest and really trying to bring quality content. (remember when the game got released? and the game was FILLED with bugs for a couple of months? I

Now it feels like FS is seriously lacking a good Manager/leader. A company is there to try to make profit and maximize it. Okay maximizing is ideal but not always the way to go, especially if you don't want to rip off your customers.

But since FS announced that they won't set deadlines nor make committing announcements, they are just ok with delaying delaying delaying while being completely silent about it. It's just sad. Your company would be much more profitable if you would show more commitment. Setting deadlines forces you and your team to work efficient and to be done with your work when the deadline arrives. Having no binding deadline is just wasting your resources and destroying value.

If Vt2 just doesn't provide any income or too low income for you, then just drop it and work for the next game you announced. But doing half half is just pissing of your customers and limiting your capabilities.

  • that's my humble opinion on it. Playing VT2 feels like playing for a while, then for 4-6 months there is just nothing & repeat...while the playerbase shrinks and only gains newcomers with repeated discounts on steam. The longer this goes on, the less I am willing to play it, unfortunately...

Thanks for the link. Helps me understand.

Really sad to see that they just quit their work when they reached their daily hours. Shows their missing dedication. It's like they don't even care to make a good product with good content updates and that at the end of the day for them it just matters that they can quit work and get to their private life.

Reading trough these comments was painful... Why work for something you don't fully believe in "Perhaps we could do better" what is that for a statement? Can't believe it... Actually..

It's funny that he speaks about "miliking employees" when he lives in Sweden with one of the top work-life balance laws

They're permitted to head home, we don't push them out the door at 5pm. If they want to hang about and keep on truckin', power to them! They do it all the time. But they're not forced to do it. Big difference there.

I stand by what I said, and perhaps we could do better. I'd be wrong to say that we're the perfect studio - I can tell you now that no studio has it nailed down to perfection. I'm immensely proud to work for a team who values their crew's well being before profit, or submitting to a vocal minority of societal pressures that expect developers to burn themselves out to meet a release window.

Crunch does exist in Fatshark, and it's almost exclusively voluntary because the developers do in fact believe in the projects and want them to succeed.

We're not advancing medicines or life saving sciences in general. We make a rat murdering simulator. Let us have a life, too.
