It is absolutely something you should send to Customer Support, and it is absolutely something they will take action against.

You may get a message saying "Actions have been taken" which is deliberately vague, but I can assure you that stuff like this is not tolerated at all.

This isn't true, so please don't feed into people's expectation of no result.

Reporting this in a Customer Support Ticket is THE way to stop this problem from happening again. Directly through removing that players ability to talk to people and possibly permanently through escalation if behavior like this is repeated.

In every case of something like that PLEASE send in a Customer Support Ticket. We take threats very seriously and do not want any of that awfulness in our game.

about 2 years ago - Ahskance - Direct link

Send me the Ticket # of that please.

Harassment and Threats are not OK. The fact that you can Block someone doesn't mean that people are allowed to break the EULA in the first place, so this is absolutely something that can and SHOULD be Customer Support Ticketed.

Don't ever hesitate to reach out to me if there is a current problem of this sort. Things like this are not allowed in our game and we require player help in identifying when it does happen so we can remove it.

This is a game on the internet, but it doesn't mean that we don't have standards and expectations of civil behavior and sanity.

about 2 years ago - Ahskance - Direct link

I agree that messaging post-Battle could be considered "escalating" the exchange. However, there is NO, and I mean NO reason to expect that foulness to be put out into the world.

The problem in this instance lays completely at the feet of the person that violated the EULA in their interaction.

The only problem I can foresee with that is the flood of Reports that would be sent in that don't qualify for punishment, or are sent to "troll" a person.

Deliberately gating the Report process by making it an out-of-game thing also has the effect of making sure any Report someone leaves the game to file is one that likely is important enough to require time and attention from a human being.

There are games which use AI capabilities, but at this time that is not something that we do outside of have Chat Bans which are delivered by noting Bad Words and matching those issues with Misbehavior in Chat reports.

As much as I agree with that being a good way to stay sane and enjoy the game... I'm glad to have such direct evidence of a problem so that it can be addressed.

Laws are Laws. Their enforcement is not a topic for debate.

As much as this particular issue bothers you, please understand that this is not negotiable.

---

Players have suggested a general information pull on disciplinary actions, or some kind of DevBlog which discusses our processes. These non-specific things are something we could consider, but anything worth doing takes time.

Clans are run by the owners of the Clan. Some people may literally enjoy having Toxicity in their game and are fine with it.

---

However, Toxicity like was happened in this post and in the stories of others that have posted here has no place in this game. The Clan Leader's choice of member doesn't alter that fact.

When you encounter situations like that, Please report them to Customer Support via a Ticket.

about 2 years ago - Ahskance - Direct link

I don't remember if normal players have the ability to "Add" a member to their Direct Message conversations.

If you DO have that ability, you can "Add" an Admin or Moderator like Myself or LancerUlysses. Then we'll be able to see what they said first-hand.

If you DON'T have that ability, then please contact us about the situation. We can request screenshots or verify issues in other ways.

ScarRaven cares because Nobody should find that acceptable. Blocking this person and not Ticketing it just means it'll happen to someone else. And someone else after that.

This entire Thread is IMPORTANT. Things like this should not be in our game. When these things happen, they MUST be Ticketed to get this stuff removed.

An Escalation Process can have several steps in it and the first few times someone's behavior crosses the line can be met with lesser sanctions. This is the other reason why Customer Support Tickets are Required. Every time there is a Ticket interaction, we have a record and the Escalation Process can be moved forward further.

As every Ticket counts, I can report that "Actions Have Indeed Been Taken" and this Ticket has moved the Offender further down that path.

If you have old Ticket Numbers that you feel were missed or ignored, please send to me so I can double check them to assure you otherwise.

I am telling people to use our Customer Support Ticket System, because they MUST use our Ticket System. This is the Disciplinary Path in our game.

If the Tickets are not used, there is absolutely no path to resolve issues, which is Not Acceptable.

I WILL feed Player Expectation because Something WILL be done.

about 2 years ago - Ahskance - Direct link

This is something I intend to fix, which is why I NEED people to make Customer Support Tickets with Replays attached.

If it's particularly egregious, please send me the Ticket Number as well.

It means that the OP has disabled his account.

One could guess that his experience was enough to drive him from the game, which is exactly why this crap shouldn't be in our game.

Please, use the Customer Support Ticket system to get this stuff handled.

There is no process on our side which ends accounts. If we Ban an account, the account will simply stay open while it is unplayable.

Anytime you see "DeletedUser" it is something that was enacted by the player themself.

Something can be done. Why do I know this? Because of my push we have had multiple "permanent actions which have been taken." (Thank you to those submitting actionable Tickets!)

Our system REQUIRES multiple Customer Support Interactions to reach significant conclusions. When Tickets are sporadic and underused, our Escalation Path does not function as intended.

---

I need people to use Customer Support Tickets because our system doesn't auto-collect it. Our Report system in-game reduces player-Karma, not actually Report to Customer Support.

When players misbehave but nobody makes a Customer Support Ticket, then they just keep doing it...

about 2 years ago - Ahskance - Direct link

I'm going to assume that you have not read what I have written before. I will lay the process out to you.

Please Read This.

---

"Pretend_Player" has caused several issues in game. Pretend_Player been reported in game a lot, so his karma is low. He has not been Customer Support Ticketed very often, so he has never been Escalated.

If someone actually sends in a Customer Support Ticket once every few months... then a 1 day Ban might happen... every few months. And then Pretend_Player is back in game doing bad things, because nobody else sends in a Ticket.

Why wouldn't someone send in a Ticket? Because players might think to themselves...

... so they don't do anything.

And because there was no Next Ticket... Pretend_Player will be a problem for another few Months.

---
---
---

I have just, a few minutes ago, utilized a process which has resulted in another instance of "Permanent Actions Being Taken"

Why could I do this? Because a Player saw something very strange in game. They made a Customer Support Ticket and sent it to me.

I looked into the situation and found interesting things which "Did Not Pass Go and Went Directly To Jail"

so...

AGAIN...

PLEASE, PLEASE use our Customer Support Ticket system. Include a Replay and a description when you do.

and if it's particularly egregious... send me the Ticket number as well.

We do have a system which can give out chat bans which prevent a player from talking in battle.

When a player uses bad language, that can be noted by our system. After enough Misbehavior in Chat reports are collected the system will check the amount of poor word choices the player has made and will act accordingly.

That is most likely what you encountered

---

I'm talking about Customer Support Tickets with Replays because Customer Support can issue full Chat Bans (can not speak in battle or anywhere else) as well as Game Bans for inappropriate behavior.

about 2 years ago - Ahskance - Direct link

Worth noting that "DeletedUser" isn't the OP's actual name. You may have had a run in with someone else who raged out.

That being said, following someone to Port just to harass them through messages is not ok. Please take screenshots of situations that you feel need to be reported and create a Customer Support Ticket that includes the Screenshots and any information you can give.

about 2 years ago - Ahskance - Direct link

Why is this suddenly a thing? Because I was hired a few months ago and I'm making a very conscious effort to tell people how we can clean up our game.

I need people to know the Customer Support Tickets are the disciplinary path for our game. Without players actually Ticketing this stuff, we see how deeply it can work its way in.
