But yeah... go to library -> right click at the game (or open the game in ur library and press the gearwheel) -> settings (or properties?) -> Beta -> choose the version you want and the game will 'update' to that version.

Sounds like he already has servers that are populated just fine and run well enough that he wants to get back to them. But sure, go ahead and use his question as an excuse to make your gripes and then just repeat the same instructions someone else already gave as cover.
