Every response in here has just proven my point - all the "advice" and "strategies" regarding water directly or indirectly require using the trader. I'm not looking for advice on how to get water - I am simply not happy with a change that necessitates you using the trader in order to meet a basic need.

There is no doubt that the trader is pivotal for getting a dew collector farm going. The fact is dew collectors are definitely tied to the trader and you’re forced to use the trader in order to get dew collectors crafted.

That is a far cry from the devs forcing you to use traders throughout your entire playthrough. You could use traders exclusively to get your filters and for nothing else and 98% of your game would be trader free.

I’m sorry that you dislike the trader but there is no longer any way to deny that they are a part of this game and if you want to 100% ignore them then that’s on you to mod the game.

If you’d like a suggestion, go into the recipe xml and find the dew collector recipe and swap out the filter for coal. Voila, you can make dew collectors without need for traders and it is still roughly realistic.

But please know that traders will only become more integral and intertwined with the game as bandits, bosses, reputation, and story quests are added. It’s going to require more modifications to remove their influence in the game.

Until then I hope the coal swap in the dew collector recipe works for you.
