Can't have multiple output items from a recipe, so no. Also making it similar to coal would just be duplicating for the sake of duplication. There really isn't a need to make a second source for charcoal.

When you chop down trees in the burnt forest you get both wood and coal as harvest material so I'm pretty sure that "coal" is a broad abstraction that includes charcoal. If your idea is to generate another source for coal in addition to mining it or chopping burning piles or trees in the burnt forest biome then I think it is a good idea and could be a campfire or forge recipe to convert wood into coal. But I doubt the developers will want to introduce a new item that is just a weaker version of already existing coal.

There is no charcoal in the game. There is coal, but this is a raw ingredient found from several sources, not something you craft.
