[2023] Seems to be two major divides in the community, some who want progression to take time, others who want to sped up

You can already change the loot %, which will directly affect how many books you find.

Or you could mod the game.

A major issue with it is that, many people in the community have been here for quite a long time and have played through version after version after version where you could basically get to top quality end game gear in about 7 days every time.

To them, getting there that fast basically makes the 'end game' of the game FEEL like it's all supposed to be 'EARLY game' content, and they want more tacked onto the end to add even more equipment progression.

But, Steel equipment is supposed to be the end game- Not the early game. The primitive gear is supposed to be the early game, with iron as mid game and steel as late/end game. And the only way to make this happen... Is to slow things down. To stretch out the pace of acquisition so you ideally aren't in steel equipment within 7 days.


The ultimate goal is to balance the game around about 50 days- 50 days of progression to beat the story(when that's implemented)- That is, the default rate of progression before the player modifies loot%.

Which means early game with primitive equipment will be about days 1-16, mid game with iron gear being about 17-33, and late game with steel being about 34-50. Ish. Maybe lean towards reducing the primitive steps so you're coming into your iron gear just about the 14 day horde and extending the steel and iron tiers slightly.


To the peeps who are so used to playing the game over the years that steel is basically early game content to them, It feels like all their toys are being yanked out from their hands and the developer is punishing them.

But seriously- You're out of the primitive tier of equipment so fast that it may as well not exist. And you pass by iron so fast that it almost doesn't register on the scale either. It's ridiculous that in a game where you could potentially be playing the same save for hundreds of hours that you're done acquiring equipment in less than 10.
