(your OS will do some strange things in certain games/situations if your PageFile is disabled or limited or moved to a secondary drive, so make sure your PF is working as intended)

(some 3rd party AV may block or uninstall important files for the game or EOS or GameSparks or EAC which can cause anything from crashing to completely failing to start...even if you haven't experienced issues with it before, AV's are constantly updated in the background to stay relevant and an update can easily change its behavior for what it decided to block or delete.
If you insist on using the AV you should at least add the game and its addons to the AV's WhiteList and reinstall or verify files through Steam, but I'd suggest uninstalling the 3rdPartyAV altogether and simply avoid using your nice gaming PC for porn and/or random-web-browsing...that's what cheap android devices are for.)


Is your game currently failing to boot altogether or can you get into the game and then it crashes?

To build on this, OP, Are you assuming that because your game can run some other games that it MUST be over the recommended specs for this game? As an example, 7DTD is a particularly RAM heavy game- 8gb will cut it for many other games, but in 7DTD it's bare minimum.

So- What are your specs OP? Could very easily be that you have a major bottleneck in your system that could/would affect your experience in 7DTD. Most notably RAM, as mentioned.
