That's a tough one. I'm usually inclined to try single player first in a new game, even for a game that's intended for multiplayer. I can figure things out at my own pace, and not be a burden on more experienced teammates. But I also find that it's enjoyable to share knowledge with newer players. Veterans can live vicariously through new players as the newbies encounter things for the first time. Or if you have friends that are interested in getting in on the ground floor together, that sounds like a good time too. Just don't do PvP.

I kid. You can do PvP if you want, but people are mean in PvP and it's less for the faint of heart.
