first of all, as i said before with assigned group roles the people who aren't build, farming, and/or cooking aren't going to waste points getting those perks which means that they won't find many of those books
second even if they do those books are going to take up valuable inventory space
lastly it's not about priorities, when i do co-op we generally have assigned role with only certain group members assigned the role of looters and resource gatherers

So how is it you play now? How do you get the books you need to boost your current crafts?
Do you not get any of the books or schematics currently available in the game?
