YouTube channel Guns, Nerds, and Steel has released this interview with TFP founders Rick and Joel Huenink. It’s full of great questions about the current and future state of the game. Thanks to forum users Jost Amman and NoMan for bringing this video to my attention.

Thats right and wrong at the same time
AS dev you have other Quality demands (many mods have no localisation and other more or less optional content)
Its far easyer to use a working framework than creating it.

Critic is a important part of the feedback we should give to the Devs, but try to stay fair
Indeed- It's easy to take the notebook and pencil and write down some ideas with it.

But, It's a lot different than chopping down the tree, grinding it into dust, converting it to cellulose fiber pulp, compressing the pulp into sheets, cutting the sheets to size, binding it all together, then taking a chunk of wood, grinding it down into shape, cutting it in half, filing a groove in either side, inserting a chunk of graphite you machined into shape, gluing the two halves together and then sharpening the end and THEN starting to write down some ideas with your new notepad and pencil.

To put it more plainly, You can't have content or mods without first having the game engine, mechanics, functions, etc in working order.

TFP aren't adding a whole lot of content compared to some prolific modders- But they are refining and expanding the foundation of the game, And literally remade a large portion of the game from the ground up to make it easier for modders to mod in the first place.

Mods are great, Love em. But they don't exist without the foundational game upon which they're made. You can't have a second floor without a first floor, Nor a first floor without a foundation.

I could say a lot more, but the TL;DR here is that you shouldn't knock the devs for what modders are/aren't doing, or vice versa.

This has been a known fact for a couple of years already. Advertised as such since TellTale went under.
Even before then it was known that the current console version could never be upgraded to a16 or beyond because of the way TellTale chose to release it.
This should not have been a surprise to anyone.
