I don’t like that argument, because good gameplay should drive decisions. The real world is just one source of inspiration for arriving at good gameplay: a means to an end.

The real world has canned peaches in addition to canned pears. Should 7DtD have canned peaches? Should an artist spend their time making canned peaches instead of, say, costumes for bandits? Probably not, because the effect on gameplay would be the same for both.

I feel there are better things to spend dev time on than more art for the sake of more art. Honestly, I felt that the game was fine back when there was one pistol and one assault rifle. You had what you needed to fill the different operational roles.
