They lowered the default difficulty by one level in recognition that the game got harder. Different biomes are made to have different difficulties now, with the snow biome being the second hardest. If you don’t like the difficulty in the snow biome, you can stay in the green forest. Vultures only appear in certain situations. I recommend using firearms on them, and building a roof to your base so that they can only come at you at eye level.

So there are two types of wolves, regular and dire. Dire wolves are larger, tougher, and have black fur and glowing eyes. You would do well to sneak around any dire wolves in the early game.

In all biomes tougher enemies, like dire wolves and bears, will spawn at night. The night isn’t scary without danger, right? It’s okay to lay low and not attract attention until you’re ready to face the nighttime dangers.
