Screenshots of new art always get more buzz than would, say, a screenshot of c# code showing how a programmer reduced the overhead on zombie pathing. The latter is just not as sexy to the average fan. So there will always be some perception that the focus is on new graphics. However, those willing to read up on development[community.7daystodie.com] will find the next alpha has a variety of art, design, and coding changes. For instance, there is a long needed overhaul to address issues with water simulation, and an optional chunk reset option that could help stabilize the game in some cases. Optimization is an ongoing process, but you don’t want to focus on optimization until all your core features are in the game. Which is to say, during beta rather than alpha.

See get better hardware for minecraft, while you run RDR and GOW maxed out is kind of a lost client thing happening.

Yes, a more manipulatable world than typical AAA titles + more modern/realistic graphics than Minecraft = high hardware requirements.

Voxels are just a category of their own, in the way The Lego Movie doesn’t look like Avatar. Not every game or movie is going for the same selling point, and that’s okay. If some people walk out of the theater because they don’t appreciate the whole ‘made of blocks’ concept… so be it.

Yeah the animation sucks, at this point i dont really care about graphics fidelity
Combat is clunky
Hitbox is broken

The animation is so bad that i cant tell my melee range while zombies can hit me but my swing wont reach them.
I do agree that the animations can make the players reach seem a bit deceptive. But, Even bare fisted, a player can hit even the longest reaching zombie before the zombie can even swing. Player minimum reach is 1.8m with bare fists, and can go as long as 4.1~m with a spear; By contrast, the longest reach of a zombie is 1.75m. Most are closer to 1.6m.

There is never a time in an unbugged installation that a zombie should be hitting the player but the player CANT hit the zombie.
