[2023] How do you defeat screamers when screamers just spawn more screamers before you can kill them?

Once I have a decent ranged weapon, I pot shot them at a distance before they can scream. That is, of course, if I'm not deliberately letting them scream for the mobile-XP-loot-canisters they spawn. :-)
