Hey everyone,

In response to your feedback about the Faction Standing Upkeep, we’ve reviewed this mechanic and made some of the requested changes.

Firstly, it’s important to communicate what the intention behind this mechanic is: We want high prestige ranks to remain meaningful and prestigious for the long term. If there is no upkeep, eventually everyone will be maximum rank and it will no longer mean anything. It was aggressively tuned to protect the prestige of the higher ranks, as we’d prefer to relax the mechanic over time rather than make it stricter if we end up having too many people at the maximum rank.

However, we’ve reviewed your feedback as well as the data we’ve collected since the Call to Arms release, and have made the following adjustments:
  • This no longer affects ranks 13-16. All rewards have already been unlocked by rank 16, so once a reward is unlocked it remains unlocked unless a character changes Factions.
  • Points gained prior to affected ranks will no longer count toward the percentage that can be reduced. It takes 1,400,000 to get to rank 17, so this amount of standing would be protected and not included in the calculation.
  • In addition to not including this protected portion, the remaining upkeep has been reduced from 10% to 5% of the amount above 1,400,000. We realize this will result in more players achieving the maximum rank, but believe that it should be sufficiently rare enough to still be regarded as prestigious
We will deploy these changes in a server side hotfix during a regularly scheduled maintenance window sometime this week. When we do, everyone will receive a bonus to their Faction Standing to mitigate the entirety of their loss this week.

Moving forward beyond that, Patch 4 includes a change to the Weekly Report to display the amount of upkeep paid. As this is a client change, it will take a bit longer to get to you. This will not correctly display for any upkeep paid before Patch 4 goes live, but will correctly display for all future upkeep.

We appreciate everyone’s feedback on this topic, and look forward to seeing you in game!
