From some players we get accused of milking the game for releasing DLC, and from others we get accused of doing so by not releasing DLC - you see, it's a bit of a weird situation to be in ;)
As this is the first time an Anno mainline game is available on consoles, we had two topics specifically that we wanted to answer: can we do it from a technical perspective and does it work from a gameplay/UX/fun perspective? So, bringing Anno 1800 to consoles (for a team that worked exclusively on PC titles so far) was also an experiment of sorts. If we had wanted to do a quick cash grab, we could have achieved this with much less effort, time and money invested in the project.
Of course, if you like cosmetic DLC with additional ornaments or skins is a very individual thing - some love it, some couldn't care less. But I wouldn't call em "lackluster", since we can see that they have been very well received over the last years.
Bringing more content to consoles is not as easy as it may first seem and would take significant additional development time, since all DLC would need to be reworked both from a technical/performance point of view as well as in regard to UI/UX. Therefore, such a decision has to be well thought-through to make sure we are delivering the content in a way that is enjoyable. Considering all these points, we opted for sticking to the base game of Anno 1800 which already has plenty of content and should keep players entertained for many hours.
Finally, as also some others have pointed out: For FC6 topics it's best you reach out to the respective team, since we are exclusively working on Anno :)
