7s Hello.
8s Welcome to the Age of Empires IV guide
10s for the content editor interface. Here we'll be going over the various panels
15s in the edit interface and generally what they do.
19s First of all, across the top you'll find the main menu.
23s Now, main menu does mostly what you'd expect a menu
26s to do with a couple things you should know.
29s Under the View tab, you're going to find a list
32s of various panels that you can open.
35s This is useful if you close something by accident and you need to get it back.
40s Under Scenario Tab, you're going to find a list of tools
44s that you can access as well as the display features.
48s If you see something displaying that you don't think you need,
52s or if something you think should be displaying that isn't displaying,
56s it's very likely it's located here.
61s The main
62s viewport is located in the center of your screen.
66s This is where you'll be doing most of your work, and this is
68s the representation of what your game world looks like for your player.
74s It works almost exactly like the in-game
77s view, except that your camera is more powerful
80s you can zoom in, you can zoom out, and you have full rotational control
84s under any axis.
88s The Asset Explorer is located in the far left,
92s and this contains every file
95s that is created by your map.
98s This includes .scenario file which is useful for reloading your map
102s if it's ever unloaded as well as, say, your minimap.
106s Many of the assets here can be dragged and dropped
109s onto your render view to view what they contain.
112s For instance, if you take a mini map and drag it over,
116s it's going to load what our
117s mini map looks like.
120s Okay.
121s The scenario tree is located to your immediate left of your render view,
126s and this contains all the assets that are currently in your level,
131s from terrain to grass to water, everything.
136s You can click on one of these assets
139s to change the tool in the top right hand corner to whatever you clicked on.
144s This is an easy way to add more of something you've already added to
148s your map.
150s In the bottom, you have your object browser.
153s The object browser contains all the assets and objects
157s you can possibly import to your level.
162s You can navigate these objects by using
166s the main icons as well as using the file structure
171s to find out looking for. As well as the search field.
175s If you know what you're looking for, for instance,
178s you can search for chicken and click this.
181s Most of the elements here can be dragged and dropped onto your map
185s to get them to spawn or drag and drop onto the .scenario
190s to see if they exist in the scenario tree.
194s For instance, to find a chicken and drag them on the map.
197s And now we have a chicken
201s okay.
202s The Properties panel is located in the top right hand corner, and this displays
207s all the aspects of
209s whatever you are you're currently selected.
213s The information here will change depending on what you have selected.
216s So if you select our chicken,
217s it's going to show us all the information on our chicken where he is in the world.
221s And there's other things.
223s This will change if you select a wagon or a rock or a bush, doesn't matter.
231s Underneath this is the
235s transformation panel.
237s The Transformation Panel contains a bunch of controls
239s that allow you to manipulate objects and elements.
243s For instance, you can move things around,
245s you can rotate them,
248s and you can resize them
252s and various other controls.
257s Okay.
258s Finally, you have the playback controls, though.
263s Playback is essentially it allows you to view
268s the map as the player and view it with animated assets.
272s You can see the smoke and water flowing.
274s You can see breeze blowing
277s This just shows you what your maps and look like live in the game.
282s Now, is does use system resources
284s so you can play with it turned off
288s which will save your graphics processor some use.
294s But it's entirely up to you.
296s Once your system can handle if you like working
299s seeing how everything is going to be or in a frozen in time world.
304s Okay well that's it.
306s Thank you for watching and happy modding.
