Today is the global launch for Age of Mythology: Retold and we couldn’t be more excited. 22 years since the original game became legend, this project has been a complete labor of love by all involved. We have such passion for the game, the potential of mythology for epic stories and the chaos you can create when armed with god powers.
We are so thankful to established and new players alike who’ve played so far. Today we open up the game to everyone and can’t wait to see the adventures you have. As we celebrate this moment, we want to hear from you. Share your stories, your memories, and what you’d like to see us change and balance as we grow the game. We’ll be listening.

New to Age of Mythology: Retold, and unsure where to start? Here’s a quick overview to help you dive in where suits you best!
How to Get Started
If you’ve never played Age of Mythology before, the best place to start is the in-game tutorial, which you can access through the ‘Campaigns’ option on the Main Menu, then the ‘Tutorials’ button. In this scenario, the narrator will walk you through the basics of interacting with Age of Mythology: Retold; teaching you skills such as selecting and controlling your units, entering combat and other vital tips and tricks to get started!
Jump Into a Campaign
If you want to jump into the thrilling narratives available in Age of Mythology: Retold, ‘The Fall of Trident’ campaign is the perfect place to start. Not only will you have the chance to build upon and develop your skills, you’ll follow Arkantos and his unlikely allies on their quest to thwart the world shattering plans of the cyclops; Gargarensis.
Just make sure to start with ‘The Fall of the Trident’ campaign, before you move on to the sequel story available in ‘The New Atlantis’ campaign!
Try Out a Skirmish
If you want to put yourself to the test as fast as possible, face off against the AI in a ‘Skirmish’ game! Simply click the ‘Skirmish’ button on the Main Menu, pick your Pantheon, the difficulty of the AI you wish to play against, the map you would like to play on and you’re ready to go!
Face Off Against Others in Multiplayer
Looking to test yourself against other human players? Select the ‘Multiplayer’ button on the Main Menu, then click the ‘Quick Match’ or ‘Ranked’ button to enter the queue and start searching for another human player to compete against!
Which Pantheon Should You Choose?
If you’re unsure which of the four Pantheon’s you would like to begin with, head to the ‘Learn’ tab in the Main Menu where you will find an introduction video to the Greek, Egyptian, Norse and Atlantean Pantheons.

Not your first time in the incredible world of Age of Mythology? There’s plenty of new features and additions to explore. Cast your God Powers multiple times at the cost of Favor. Experiment with new Norse military units; the Hirdman and the Godi. Enjoy our huge rebalancing of units, technologies and abilities. Enter the Wonder Age, improving your Myth Units and recharging your God Powers near instantly, which you may cast at a fraction of the cost.
What’s Included with the Premium Edition
Then, for those of you who had purchased the Premium Edition, experiment with the new Major God, Freyr and their four new Minor Gods. Or attempt the new Mythic Battle ‘Reginleifs’s Rally’ in the Campaign menu!
