the people making skins arent even part of respawn. they are small independent studios that design them as part of a commission. The skins get made, the studio gets paid, thats it. Its similar with the devs, they work for a fixed wage, meaning that they get their money regardles the financial performence of the game.
so all the money apex actually makes (-wages from people working on it and server maintenance) goes to shareholders and bonuses.

Oh i didn't want to give off the impression that respawn doesn't do skins anymore. I know that for example the awesome wattson skin from this seasons battlepass was made in house. But now that you said it, i actually generalized it totally in my initial post.
