TL;DR: "Enemy here" ping was red, nearly invisible to (certain) colorblind people. Now it changes with colorblind settings. Small change, but major improvement for us.
I couldn't find a topic about this and wanted somewhere to convey my thanks.
Previously, the various colorblind settings changed all ping-related colors other than the "Enemy here" ping (F key on PC). It remained red no matter what, and for us with red/green colorblindness it was nearly invisible. I used to desperately try to audio-locate the enemies while my teammates are spam-pinging F while I have no idea where it is. This was during the most crucial portions of each match, right when the fighting starts, so you can imagine how well I did. I also some posts in this subreddit complaining about this.
It seems in the last patch they changed it so the "Enemy here" ping color changes by choice of colorblind settings. I think it's Green on my mode, or maybe Yellow? I have no idea. But it's visible. This is so great, I hear the "Enemy here" voice-line and can spin very quickly to the ping location, around 0.5-1 seconds (before it was at least 5 seconds until I managed to figure out where it was). This is such a major improvement. Thank you, Respawn, it's so much nicer to feel a bit more on "even grounds".
Next steps:
- Make bloodhound's ult also be effected by colorblind settings, because for (many of) us, we can see nothing during his ult (enemies look just like the background). I can't play him for that reason.
- Make the target highlighting of the Digital Threat scope be affected by colorblind settings. Like bloodhound's ult, we simply can't see target highlighting, so the scope is kind of useless for us. I just give it to my teammates when they can use it.
