Pretty simple and I think it happens every season, but its the first time it happened to me.
Finished in Plat during the First Split. Second Split I ended in Gold. But they gave me a Gold badge which obviously isn't right.
How do I get them to fix this?

Exactly - your rank at the end of the season (not across the whole season). That said, Patch Notes were not as clear as they should've been which is why the tweet went out to clarify when we noticed confusion. And that also partially contributed to the changes for Upheaval.
