@LewdAnimeLife @R0CKD0G @FreakendWarrior I'd also love for everyone to know that my job is to make sure the community gets updated - the update doesn't always need to come from me. Dollie will always know what's happening with live ops before me.

The team is working through an issue on Steam/Epic that will hopefully be resolved soon. They are also looking into some instability with some Playstation players who have received the update. More updates on the way!

@max72061 Dollie is updating the community. Managing the community and making sure they get info is my job - not delivering every message.

@Rainf3ather I understand that perspective but I think it's important to address critique especially in times where people expect you not to.

30 minutes have almost elapsed. "Why is it so hard to give us a time" We're coordinating with multiple teams and systems outside of our own for this launch. It's hard to predict all those variables. That said, we're closer. Just one more check to do.

There will no doubt be some bugs and issues that need to be patched and we'll deal with the urgent ones quickly. As you can imagine, the team will need some sleep but report what you see and I'll make sure it makes it back to the team. ARK is a labor of love. We'll be here.

I won't make excuses for mistakes and decisions that lead to poor execution. I also won't beat myself or the team up - it does nothing of value. Delays are something WE gamers have to come to grips with What I will do is continue to stress the importance of managing expectations

Delays happen for a lot of reasons but when delays don't happen, crunch does. You don't want a product made by angry devs that aren't loving their job - it'll show. Straddling the fence of managing expectations and over-promising is the challenge.

@spacefiddle I'm telling you that there will always be a potential for a delay. That's development. Sure we want to minimize those things but if you understood all the variables you'd understand why it's challenging. ARK isn't the only game that will have a delay.

@spacefiddle Yes, we need to improve some internal processes - but even doing so we risk a delay. But to your point, we minimize our risks.

@passiveheart46 I could paste a list of delays from this year and last year. Yes, our delays are special lol but the challenges that cause the delay are the same.

@spacefiddle Not giving up but seeing some of the variables and challenges we have with the code base and continually adding content, I'm just being realistic. There are more opportunities to fix this with an entire new pipeline. Something that's hard to do at the end of development.

@fgt0119 That's fair but what is a 'generous development period'? What if we thought we were generous before. The problems come in the estimation it takes to say.. make a dino.. or make a game feature like horde mode. You start off thinking its 20 hours then it turns into 100

Why is it hard to pick a date? A producer asks me how long horde mode will take me. 20 weeks? They then add that up for all the dev work. You think it only took me 20 weeks? Challenging to define at the beginning of a project. "Pad it!" What if I thought I did? It's tricky

So what happens when we see the estimation isn't going to work? "Yo, we have to cut this" or "Yo we have to delay". Sometimes it's harder to see when something is approaching that line.

If it's a star feature, you're obviously not going to cut it. You're going to allow the proper time for it to shine. Gamers should know that meeting a deadline may mean cut content and a worse experience in the end.

Should I be able to estimate something as complex as horde mode before even working on it or knowing how I was going to approach it? Maybe. But being in that spot, I can tell you it's challenging.

@FakeOasis Because the marketing world doesn't like that. Game studios are about making a game but also running a business. And the business side is marketing and promotions.

"Why not just say it's ready when it's ready" Because as much as game studios are about making games they are also running a business. The marketing and promotion world doesn't like "it's ready when it's ready" They run off scheduled campaigns.

@INF_ERNOgaming Do you think we made the decision to delay yesterday and said "hey let's wait until the last minute because players won't be mad about that" These aren't decisions we're sitting on for weeks and weeks. Be mad that it was last minute but not that we waited to tell you.

@synontopp I don't know about new servers but I do remember a PvP crowd complaining about the cave meta and how everyone hides in caves so there is no PvP.

I can say the feedback does look better than the Gen 1 launch. I remember a resounding "NOBODY ASKED FOR THIS"
