I understand how frustrating these bugs can be at times and make no excuse for their existence. The team has been putting in a lot of work to reduce and eliminate as many causes for character loss as possible and as of the last week we're the safest it's ever been. That doesn't mean much for the people who have lost characters in the weeks prior, but going forward there's a lot more protection in place to prevent it from occurring.
In our Crunch posted on Friday (a little bit after you made this thread), we shared info regarding an auto-restoration system we've got running on our Officials:
Preventing character loss remains of utmost importance to us. We've recently implemented the technology (and have had it running live on our Official Network) to auto-restore characters in the event that a server has experienced a rollback. Specifically, if a player has recently transferred to a server and for some reason, that server has gone down without saving the world (crashed/restarted), upon its next startup that character (presuming it hadn't left the server), will be automatically restored. We'll continue to monitor for character loss reports and identify opportunities to advance the auto-restoration technology.
This will effectively eliminate all cases caused by the server going down. We're going to keep looking into reports as they come in and see how we can identify and resolve the other cases that could be happening.
As for the Aberration issue, it's been a tricky one for us to resolve but the team has been vigorously looking into it. Thankfully we believe we may have resolved the issue (as we've not been able to reproduce the problem in our latest version of the game), and that'll be rolling out on the 24th with Turkey Trials. Don't have full confidence yet as it is an obscure issue and once the build is live there will be thousands on it versus our small team, so that's when we'll know for sure. If it hasn't been fixed, we'll continue to investigate and get it sorted out as soon as possible.
