[2023] AoC forum login issue

I would not typically think of reddit as a solution for my current issue but I don't see another way.

I have a problem logging in to the forums. When I click the "Sign In" button on AoC forum page, it tells me to :

"Before proceeding, please set your contact email address in your" Profile Settings (link)

I click on profile settings even though my contact email is already fine. I update. No changes happen and login to forums still demands an updated email. I'm unable to delete my account and start fresh unless I use a new email. I requested help for this once and never got a response.

The website seems to be clunky or just not idiot proof and I'm not smart enough to pass the requirements to gain entry. Maybe the bar is set too high in order to decipher this complex login process or I'm stuck in a Kafkaesque hell-loop.
