27s very exciting stream for you today we
31s are going to be going through the
33s artisanship system and it has been a
36s little while since we last talked about
39s artisanship and showcased um the
43s Gathering and we're going to do a little
44s bit of that today and we also during our
46s uh last stream with uh freeholds talked
49s a little bit about processing and we're
50s going to be doing that uh today as well
53s and we're also going to be crafting
55s something pretty interesting and I have
56s joining me four of our glorious
60s team here at intrep some of them
63s regulars I think all of them actually
65s regulars have been on the stream before
68s um we have two of our glorious designers
71s Mike and Corey Mike Cory how you guys
73s doing doing great how are you glad to be
76s here doing very good I'm excited to show
78s off what you guys have been working on
79s and how far it's come since people last
81s saw it yeah same here it's it's very
84s exciting for us yes we also have joining

97s a lot of work on the engineering side of
98s things getting all these glorious
100s designs up and running it's going to be
101s exciting to take a look at that today as
103s well yeah it's been a challenge to
106s fulfill all the wishes of my
110s designers that bad was it they're like

116s wishes the one that passed
119s visibility we also have joining us uh
123s for this is your second time now Nathan
125s our glorious producer I know back to
129s back I know The Artisans ship is the
132s peanut butter to the Jelly that is noed
134s so I'm super excited to show how these
135s start interacting with each other yes it
138s is totally 100% and you guys have done a
140s great job so far uh I know you guys have
143s been really pushing it uh this last this
146s last Sprint and uh it has definitely
149s shown through to me so I'm excited to
151s show the audience um all right so why
153s don't we talk a little bit of bit a
156s little bit about what we're going to be
158s doing
160s today Cory yeah Mike yeah sounds good um
164s so um you had brought up that you had
168s done a little uh lumberjacking uh but
170s we're kind of interested in getting into
172s some Mining and
174s herbalism uh because you picked up a
177s recipe um I think it's like uh you're
179s saying it's a pretty nice sword or
181s something so okay let me take a look at
182s that is that that's going to be in my
183s inventory yeah it should be in your
185s inventory yeah um so I was thinking we
187s could go out and uh get some of the
189s stuff that we would need to um make that
194s sword U some of them are a little harder
196s to come by so I'm not sure whether or
198s not we'll be able to get our hands on
199s that if not I think we might have some
201s stuff for you but um yeah I guess uh we
205s just need to kind of get our get our
206s stuff together at um as as you mentioned
208s uh or as I mentioned you you already did
211s some Lumberjack in but we'll probably
212s need to get you um uh herbalism sickle
217s and uh maybe some extra bags so you have
220s some space um so yeah let's uh yeah
223s let's make our way over to the
226s agricultural Supply I think there
228s there's one of those built in uh
229s Winstead right now so we can head down
231s there and um so now talk to me a little
234s bit about obviously we have this recipe
237s um when players are looking to create
240s different items in the game they're
242s going to need to go out and either uh
244s purchase or get drops of recipes or
246s trade with other players and when they
248s acquire that recipe like I have here
250s this it says night blade I can use the
253s recipe and I will learn a weapon
255s smithing recipe for the night blade so I
257s have a recipe book that I get to keep
260s essentially I learn these recipes once
262s yep pretty much um there might be some
264s unique cases where some recipes might
267s have a charge count so when you craft it
269s five times it might disapp here but
270s generally most of the cases all the
272s recipes should be primarely learned okay
274s nice that's very cool um and right
277s clicking this is going to consume it I
279s assume but I'm I do get a preview of the
281s materials that we need and Cory this is
283s what you were talking a little bit about
284s going out and collecting some of these
285s there's a night opal Moon Bell I assume
288s that is some type of
289s flower yeah so um uh the night opal and
294s the moon bells are those are the ones
296s that I was kind of alluding to that are
297s a little difficult to get our hands on
299s um the night Opals you basically can't
302s see them at all during the day uh but um
304s as it gets closer to night if they're in
306s the world they'll sort of uh um uh push
310s away their shell and start shining a bit
312s and then the uh the the uh Moon Bells uh
315s only bloom at night so we'll have to
318s kind of you know maybe we'll work on
320s some of the other uh things that you
322s need for that recipe and hopefully night
324s time we'll come around and we can uh
325s find some of those things okay very cool
327s so I'm going to right click this recipe

356s service buildings that you can build in
357s the node this one kind of focuses
359s specifically on artist ship and you'll
360s find stuff for herbalism farming and
362s animal husbandry here um so if you talk
365s to um Mr Willie over here um yeah so he
371s if you talk to him he should um give you
374s some stuff that you can use to construct
377s your uh first sickle so okay and then uh
379s on once you have those things there's a
382s little Anvil here over here to your left
384s um and you can craft the sickle there
386s and then I think once you have the
388s sickle you can talk to him and um it'll
391s it'll complete the quest and and you
393s give you your first tickle you'll be
394s ready to go this guy is incredibly rude
397s we need to have a conversation with the
399s narrative team about how these these
402s vendors speak to the citizens of this
404s Village this is
406s unbelievable he said he just can't he
409s can't teach just any Drifter am I just
411s any Drifter does he not see the crown on
413s this helmet I guess not yeah we'll have
415s to add the uh mayoral um narrative tags
419s just so they and uh and up their
422s respectful speech he's not even going to
424s pay me too for achieving these many
426s tasks he has for me he's paying you in
429s experience that is not enough oh man

448s awesome uh so you uh he wants me to show

471s you yeah so there's an little Anvil
473s right here uh we can interact with that
474s and that should pull up the the crafting
476s menu so as a uh as a gatherer you'll be
479s able to craft your own tools um uh
481s they're going to take you know resources
483s that come from all sorts of different uh
486s professions you won't be able to you
488s know always Source all of those things
490s just just yourself but um uh luckily you
494s know Will's nice and he gave you some um
496s some components and you can kind of just
498s throw them together to make your first
499s uh your first sickle here so go through
502s with the go through the craft you should
503s get that thing and you know show it to
505s him and um he'll give you a little pat
508s on the back and a this is a great
510s example as we kind of um players as
513s you're entering into Alpha 2 and and
515s you're wanting to get started into um
518s artisanship these different professions
520s will have a number of quests available
522s to introduce players to their first tool
524s sets um and then from their tool set
528s sustainability will be will be incumbent
531s on the player to continue to gather the
533s resources necessary to repeatedly create
536s these tools because they have a
537s durability that gets expended when in
539s interacting with the resources in the
540s open
542s world

558s he uh we all know what your first May
561s mayoral like decision is going to be

596s open this is kind of like the the hub
598s for all arti ship stuff I think we poked
600s around here a little bit um in some of
602s the previous streams but uh on the right
604s hand side there you can see all the
606s different slots for the the tool types
609s um for each of our five Gathering
611s professions so aesome um looks like you
613s have one of each of the tools that we're
614s looking to use today um it also kind of
618s I'm already very progressed in my uh in
620s my
621s lumberjacking oh yeah you said you're
623s like what level are you I'm like level
625s nine I'm about to be level 10 oh that's
628s awesome okay so like we're out and about
630s you'll if you hit Level 10 you should be
632s able to uh upgrade your certification to
634s apprentice and that's one of our uh
636s certification break points um and you
639s know once you each hit those break
641s points it kind of opens up a whole new
643s uh range of stuff that you can do new
645s tools yeah exactly right um a new
648s portion of your skill tree so we should
650s for sure um get you that level 10 and
653s see what happens what up Sten we need to
655s prepare for a journey oh where yeah we
658s need to get some potential bags oh okay
661s yeah yeah yeah so uh we talked about
664s this in the past with the with the
665s tetris inventory um kind of having uh
668s different spatial layouts um of our bags
670s and also our um our resources and so uh
675s we've been working on that a little bit
676s and um trying to set up bags that have
679s uh spaces that are optimal for you know
682s the the shapes that are going to be
684s associated with the resources and um
686s having stats on on the bags that will
688s change you know that stack size and how
690s much you can stack stuff up so um since
693s we're going out we're going to collect a
694s bunch of stuff you should grab one of
696s the um bountiful bags from from Willie
699s and then we'll go over to the Stoneworks
701s and see if we can grab a see that um
704s Willie has a number of different uh
708s farmer shirts and novice
710s herbalism or herbalist skibbies do I
713s want any gear from
715s this um yeah it's up to you I mean
717s there's so there's gear for all of the
718s different um crafting Gathering and
721s processing professions that'll help you
723s you know do do those uh different trades
725s so um it's up to you like if if you you
728s said you're higher level in
729s lumberjacking so you know you could grab
731s some of that stuff um to kind of
733s compound on the stats make you make you
735s faster chopping or oh should I go over
737s that guy buy that stuff okay cool cool
739s cool so from this guy let me purchase
741s his um bags yeah why you grab yeah grab
746s the Bountiful bag from him the Bountiful
747s ones are pretty great they um I think
749s they have the increased stack size on
751s them so you can uh stack up more herbs
754s um in that bag than you can in in
757s others I see that there is a novice
760s herbalism
762s bag and if you scroll down at the bottom
764s there's alien herbl and basket oh okay
766s so I'm going to grab the basket yeah all
770s right done I got one of those sweet
774s awesome I need anything else do I need
776s any other bags uh yeah let's run over
779s this way to the
781s Stoneworks there's another
784s uh gentleman over here that we can talk
786s to kind of
788s standing by this crane okay um and you
792s can do the same thing from him throw
793s throw a little gold at him and he'll
795s give you some give you some bags and
796s stuff I'll get um from this guy the
799s stone let's noice Bountiful mining bag
802s novice Bountiful okay got it awesome so
806s now those those bags should be in your
808s inventory um and if you right click them
811s they'll equip and then if you go over to
812s your materials tab um you should be able
815s to see those new bags that we got okay
819s so just real quick you were speaking
820s earlier about the unique stack sizes as
823s being part of the um kind of asymmetric
827s design for bag crafting um and these
831s bags have specifically curated benefits
834s for stack sizes of the type of resources
838s they relate to and that's the specific
840s profession of gathering and the
841s resources you would gain from those
843s those different unique professions so by
846s equipping this herbalism bag whoops
849s let's see
850s here um and then also let me just open
854s up the materials section and this
858s one I see now I've actually gotten a
862s unique
864s looking um structure for the alen
867s herbalism basket and those are the types
869s of structures you would expect them to
871s gather that are the gather bles for
873s herbalism correct correct correct yeah
876s so that's not necessarily to say that I
878s can't collect non herbalism resources I
881s could and I could put them in that bag
884s but it just wouldn't utilize the most
886s beneficial aspect of it which is the
888s higher stack count for those types of
890s herbalism resources yeah exactly we can
893s also um you know can also be constraints
897s on the on the shape right like um we
899s were talking about like you can kind of
901s see um I'm not sure what materials you
904s you have in your bags but like I I have
906s a couple pieces of wood that are you
908s know uh 1x3 and so you know in in the
911s herbalism bag I'm not sure that there's
913s any any slots for for pieces of wood
916s that are that size right so um some
919s there'll be some constraints and um
922s benefits in terms of shape and then also
924s you know the the stack size based on the
926s on the type so okay cool very cool so
929s now let's oh go ahead Mike a good
931s example would be if you equip the mining
933s bag as well on top of the oralism bag um
936s you'll be able to see the shapes are
940s different but um you can see the mining
943s bags are 2 by tws and overing bags are
946s um one by twos so you can technically
948s put herbs into your mining bags but you
950s won't get the benefit of the stock
951s bonuses of the mining stuff right yeah
955s that's very
956s cool sorry go ahead M say something else
959s um also um the the earlier versions
962s might be very restrictive in sizes so
965s like uh the novice mining bags and all
967s oralism bags are very shape restrictive
969s but as you level up and then make better
971s bags might be more generous of um shapes
975s so you could technically do some other
976s things as well and then have more bigger
978s sizes and have be able to uh hold more
982s variety of things as well okay very nice
984s that's I I think that's pretty cool
985s should should we go to The Lumberjack to
988s grab those were you talking about some
990s um equipment that he might have that
991s might help us with our lumber jacket oh
993s yeah definely LEL that up
998s sweet oh I see okay hold on let me see
1000s here I have I also have a quest that
1002s relates to We rise after
1006s felling oh yeah that's so that's the
1008s certification Quest so um as you
1011s mentioned before you know that we're um
1014s we're we're planning on having some some
1017s content related to you know onboarding
1020s players to the different professions and
1022s you know you're going to need a tool for
1023s the first time and um you're going to
1026s want to craft a thing for the first time
1027s and kind of learn how to do those things
1029s uh but we also want to extend that out
1031s to kind of more of a a individual story
1035s arc um like experience for players um so
1038s as you as you become a better Lumberjack
1040s you'll you'll you'll uh play out your
1042s story as as a lumberjack so um these
1045s different certification quests um are
1048s are to be kind of uh Keystone moments in
1051s that story progression so you know right
1053s now we have something kind of you know
1055s simple set up uh looks like you already
1057s had collected all of the the wood that
1059s you needed right but um you also need to
1061s reach the level needed to even be take
1064s on an apprentice ship so um so I think
1069s yeah see see what he's got um I'd check
1072s out some of the gear I think that will
1074s um since you're already pretty pretty
1075s good with the wood chopping you could
1077s probably get a little little faster with
1078s the GE that he has so he does have he
1081s has a shirt pants
1083s um and I think it's that and a tool belt
1087s and and each of them are
1089s giving different
1091s benefits looks like I'm getting
1092s lumberjacking speed from the pants and
1095s from the
1096s shirt and the tool belt is going to give
1099s me
1100s processing
1102s um oh I think you might be looking at
1104s Lum Milling oh that's
1106s lill yeah so at this at this service
1108s build
1109s um we're we're housing another three
1112s professions so there's there's carpentry
1113s stuff here there's the lumber Milling
1115s stuff here and there's also the
1117s lumberjacking stuff here so um Woody's
1120s going to have stuff from from all three
1122s um if you're looking to do any you know
1125s uh Woodwork in related activities uh
1128s he's your guy so and that's sort of what
1130s we mentioned when we were showing the
1132s noes uh in a live stream a few months
1134s ago was like your ability to build
1136s buildings to really cater to
1139s uh the important industries to your
1142s region or or to your node yeah yeah let
1147s me just take a look here I know this is
1149s obviously guys this is I want to State
1152s this again we always State this in every
1153s uh showcase but uh everything you see
1156s here is still a work in progress we are
1157s working towards our Alpha 2 um that
1160s includes things like visual effects like
1163s uh UI these are all very functional
1166s States but not necessarily at their
1168s polish States um so there still a lot of
1170s work that needs to be done there I
1171s noticed that um we have three slots for
1175s the uh the equipment that I just put on
1177s and they're not displaying visually uh
1180s but we do intend to provide that visual
1183s display as an option to the characters
1185s correct correct
1187s yeah it would be a toggleable thing that
1190s players could be do um in the future
1193s when we get some assets yes absolutely
1196s there's a lot of
1197s assets
1199s all right let us so what should we do
1201s here we want to go out and gather some
1203s stuff yeah yeah yeah so um you know
1206s we're we're kind of scouting out there
1208s uh beforehand and we know we know a
1209s pretty good spot um if you're if you're
1213s heading out kind of past the Smithy you
1216s should see a good old Tower Carin out
1218s there in the distance and if you
1221s head uh a little bit east of that um you
1225s can kind of see some like rock
1226s formations up there that's where we're
1228s heading there's an nice little um little
1230s Valley in there um has I think it has
1233s pretty much everything that we're
1234s looking for so okay I love the Autumn
1238s look out here I think the it fits
1241s perfectly for this time of year I mean
1243s definitely we did just have Thanksgiving
1246s feels kind of a little bit like
1247s Thanksgiving out
1248s here does does feel like Thanksgiving
1250s it's beautiful I really like the colors
1252s turning out really good abely it's my
1255s favorite season uh so far by have thanks
1259s G too or no hey no trying to get lore
1263s out of me this is an artisanship Focus
1266s give us one thing we won't leak during a
1268s live stream I
1270s know the one thing I really love the
1274s leas falling down effect just walking by
1277s nice speaking of of leaks however I know
1280s that I am uh playing a ranger class you
1283s might see a couple of early uh look at
1285s the ranger skills here in case we run
1288s into any potential resistances um but
1291s next month we are doing a ranger update
1294s and it's going to be pretty fun too so
1296s there's a little leak little leak nice I
1299s see how it is it's okay for skill
1300s abilities but not for the
1302s lore that is true that is true the L is
1305s safely
1306s unbelievable so we do have have some BS
1309s someone's chopping out there is that
1310s youan chopping yeah get a I see it

1388s wow really quickly what so now this area
1393s appears to have a little bit of a
1394s corruption that started seeping in looks
1396s like the citizens of this town aren't

1400s job fight back the corruption old
1403s neighborhood's going to hell there here
1406s too yeah yeah I think you can grab those
1408s you're yeah it's naice yeah these are
1411s the new rubies that we just introduced
1414s with uh C physics enabled oh
1416s nice yeah um thanks to Noah and some
1421s magic from engineering uh when you see
1423s it gather it's you see that shutters oh
1426s that's awesome love that that's super
1428s cool additionally if you open your back
1431s space now um you'll see that your mining
1433s bag has now rubies and it prioritized
1436s based on your stack size oh let me see
1438s here hold on first let me gather a
1441s little bit
1442s of um look for some ass Sal I think
1446s there's some over here over here to the
1449s right there's one right there yeah
1455s go right here no this is opal
1459s nope opal I can't even interact with the
1461s opal no it's right here yeah
1464s but oh don't we
1467s need I think so I think we need night
1470s opal which is the one that only really
1473s appears at night um
1477s okay
1482s interesting oh I've gotten some Zink and
1484s basal nice okay so you got lucky you got
1487s the you got the drop chance so this gave
1489s me two things it gave me it gave me zinc
1490s as well yes yeah yeah so when you're
1494s when you're mining stone like we're
1495s trying to we're trying to do stuff that
1496s Mak sense right with the drops so you
1498s know in stone you'll find metal and gems
1500s and you know depending on the you the
1503s tier and the type of type of stone um
1505s there'll be different kind of selection
1506s of gems and stuff you can get in it uh
1508s or or Metals so um you may if you're
1512s trying to Target a certain you know
1514s metal you might want to consider um some
1516s particular Stone as well and um as you
1519s get better at at uh binding and doing
1522s Stone related stuff you'll kind of learn
1524s learn the ropes there so you can make
1526s better decisions okay cool additionally
1529s as you gather you can actually notice
1531s that your um durability goes down for
1534s your tools oh
1536s really
1538s see I'm using this pickaxe it's at
1542s 95 nice all right you got plenty of
1545s plenty of durability left it's good to
1547s good to repair when you get into town
1548s though so it kind of sucks when you find
1550s something real nice and your durability
1552s is low or tools broken and won't be able
1554s to it ah nice and I really love the the
1559s physics it's like I remember in the
1560s Gathering stream you know we're showing
1562s off um uh the trees and kind of like set
1566s a precedent with how that looks and now
1569s we have to make all the other stuff just
1570s as cool so the the rocks and gems of
1573s metal were like kind of a big big uh
1575s hurdle for us and having it in a place
1578s where it's starting to look really good
1580s that was super exciting that was a cool
1582s that was actually really cool that
1584s should definitely knock you over or kill
1587s you
1588s oh let's go hey there we go oh I've
1591s reached level 10 oh my God that just
1595s killed
1597s Mike I'm alive please can't kill me grab
1602s some some D maybe so you you leveled up
1605s you said yes it said I leveled up ah
1607s okay well you got to okay so when when
1609s you level up you're going to get some
1610s skill points and you should be able to
1612s put those in your in your skill tree um
1616s you should uh pop that open there we go
1618s okay yes I have a bunch already
1620s allocated but now I have two n points oh
1623s nice yeah you should spend those and
1625s book around in the tree a little bit but
1627s yeah um that is something that we're wed
1629s to do with artisanship both you know or
1632s in all three of the branches you'll
1633s you'll have skill trees for your
1635s profession so those skill trees you'll
1637s be able to find you know passives
1638s that'll give you uh stat bonuses and you
1641s know predicates for extra functionality
1643s within whatever the profession is access
1645s the stations um expand ending out some
1648s of the various systems like I don't know
1650s you can see some of the surveying ones
1652s right like you can uh add extra pylons
1655s or um extra uh scanning range and lower
1659s the cool down on how often you can
1661s survey so uh we're trying to make those
1664s trees uh interesting and give people you
1666s know different paths so they can
1668s progress through W that's cool yeah very
1673s cool um so obviously I'm looking at this
1677s uh the skill right now and I see one
1679s side is dealing primarily with yield the
1681s other side is dealing with um excuse me
1685s with Rarity with quality um the other
1688s side dealing with yield and then the
1690s Survey System yeah talk to me a little
1694s bit about um the Survey
1697s System yeah so surveying um is uh
1702s something that we're trying to use for
1705s gatherers to really kind of interact
1707s with uh the things that we want to do
1709s with our Dynamic world uh one of that is
1712s one of those things is we want to be
1713s able to spawn stuff randomly and we want
1716s to put it in uh places in the world that
1719s will make people you know travel and uh
1721s bolster up our um our local
1724s player-to-player economies have people
1727s you know kind of actually be out in the
1728s world looking for stuff and not um
1731s standing in the same place waiting for a
1733s tree or a flower to respawn over and
1735s over again so we're kind of we're kind
1738s of having the best of the Both Worlds
1740s where we have our lower tier stuff that
1742s will fill out you know the the base look
1744s of our world so that it's always kind of
1746s looking good um and then the higher tier
1749s stuff from Apprentice onward will will
1751s always kind of Spawn randomly in in
1753s places that we've deemed look uh you
1755s know look good and make sense for what
1757s that thing is um so surveying is a way
1761s that you can uh track that stuff down um
1765s it will help you uh find places will
1768s help you find particular resources will
1770s help you find resources at a certain
1772s Rarity um and yeah so it should be you
1775s know something you could do as a gather
1777s on your own or group up with other
1778s people to uh bolster up the um the power
1782s of your survey or the the the range or
1785s reach of it so um yeah it says I need a
1790s higher certification for this
1792s tree corrupted Oak gotcha well we just
1795s leveled up so I bet you if we went back
1798s to town oh my God there's something
1800s crazy or excuse there's
1802s something
1803s crazy oh no bleep that out bleep that
1807s out there's some dude up there that's
1809s awesome I I would say the same thing if
1811s I saw that ancient horror away from a

1843s appropriate bags based on your uh stack
1845s sizes oh yeah that is pretty nice so it
1848s didn't misplace them in a in a different
1851s bag than what is
1853s best yeah it prioritizes basically the
1855s best stack size first and then then it's
1858s finds the other empty spots
1860s after yeah that's a pretty nice quality
1862s of life feature definitely we we uh you
1866s know there is a lot of discussions about
1869s you know the the spatial inventory and
1871s the different stack sizes and you know
1874s whether that could cause like confusion
1876s for players or you know extra stress on
1879s um sorting of inventory and it was like
1881s all right well no M no matter what we do
1883s we got to try and make this U as easy
1886s and usable for players as possible and
1888s luckily really smart people like Alex
1891s and Alec and our UI team Kobe Kobe and
1893s the Gang uh that are helping us make um
1898s you know that the system that we want
1900s function really really nicely so uh
1902s that's one that was one of those
1903s features um that that came on that's
1906s like all right well I don't have to
1907s every single time I get something you
1908s know look and see what bag's the best
1910s for it to be in um the uh the code can
1915s do it for us so yep very cool nice we

1931s bit about how Gathering is a bit
1935s different in ashes um and one of the the
1939s most unique things about I think the
1942s world is obviously the number of
1945s different systems we have that change
1947s World State we just saw a corrupt Zone
1951s hold on let's K this

1959s corrupt Zone and um that zone becomes
1963s corrupt after a period of time in which
1966s players are not addressing some issues
1968s that arise uh through certain events or
1971s through through certain story arcs and
1974s that corruption can spread and
1976s Corruption Chang changes the spawners
1980s for resources and for Monsters and that
1984s has a fundamental effect on the resource
1987s economy of the
1990s game yeah definitely it plays into you
1992s know scarcity it gets players out in the
1994s world uh searching for um uh different
1998s things that are predicated on on the
2000s dynamic parts of our world right we can
2002s do stuff with day and night time we can
2003s do stuff with Seasons um we can have
2006s things that are specifically related to
2008s some event or story arc or you know
2010s corruption um even uh particular
2013s locations right regionality of a biome
2016s um some you know frozen tundra place
2019s that's uh completely covered in ice
2021s versus you know the the riverlands and
2023s um uh the lushness there so um don't
2028s want to just have that stuff in and not
2031s be doing anything with it so we're we're
2033s trying to play on that for for Gathering
2036s um and open up um the diversity of stuff
2039s that you can process and Craft um by
2041s finding those things so yeah I love that
2044s um we mentioned actually a time of day
2048s and seasonality as being part of that
2050s world State change um and as I
2053s understand whoops as I understand it we
2056s have a number of different oh let me see

2068s um we have to don't we have to gather
2070s some recipes or some materials that are
2072s predicated on time of day yeah I think

2086s daytime um surprise surprise um and then
2090s the the moon bells are are similar yeah
2092s they they only bloom at night so um you
2096s if you're looking for those in
2097s particular particular you want to take
2098s uh keep an eye on the day night cycle
2101s and um you know know where they're found
2104s um in the world and yeah I do have some
2108s Powers if we want to perhaps change it
2111s to nighttime that I could use shall we
2115s cuz it it'll it it'll take a little
2116s while probably for us to get to
2117s nighttime at least another hour or so

2209s Anvil yeah this is the same Anvil as the
2212s herbalism see see if you can craft a a
2215s tool there what a what materials do you
2218s need it says that I need um zinc
2220s fragments and Oak Timber for a novice
2223s lumberjacking The Apprentice requires
2226s zinc fragments with copper fragments and
2228s Oak Timber awesome okay well um that's
2232s all novice stuff so um so the way that
2236s the certification stuff breaks down is
2238s that um every everyone gets to be a
2239s novice everything so all 22 professions
2242s the players get to uh be novice of um
2245s and then it starts kind of like
2246s narrowing from there so after that
2248s you'll only be able to be Apprentice of
2250s five things um you can be a journeyman
2252s in four things you can be a master in
2254s three things and you can be a grandmas
2256s in two things so you'll you'll need to
2258s narrow but you can also sort of
2260s diversify to support you know the
2262s professions that you want to First push
2263s further in so now obviously those are um
2268s those restrictions are in place in order
2269s to create a dependency cross player
2273s faction right for how players specialize
2276s their progression in the artisanship uh
2279s trees yeah I mean like uh being social
2283s is is uh important to us right like we
2285s we want players to interact with each
2287s other we want the professions to make
2289s stuff for the other professions that uh
2291s that are useful you know um I um
2295s influenced quite a bit by the Star Wars
2297s Galaxies style crafting and you know
2299s just having people in your network that
2301s could you know Supply the the uh metal
2303s that you need to make your armor and the
2306s you know the the flowers that you need
2308s to to make your potions and you know
2310s maybe the potions that you need to make
2311s your enchantments uh that that to me was
2315s really interesting and part of the the
2317s gameplay of the economic gameplay of you
2319s know being being a good crafter being a
2321s good gather is having that um that
2323s system so and it and it really plays
2325s into the um the uh uh economic uh field
2332s of a particular server right um You you
2334s can come in and be like I want to be the
2337s the potion Mogul here right and like
2339s having good sources and you know having
2341s having a guild that supports you uh is
2344s just really really interesting and
2346s without um without sort of narrowing
2349s down what you have access to yourself um
2352s uh it's sort it takes away from from the
2356s ability to achieve that right so yeah so
2358s now okay we're going to be creating this
2360s you said Apprentice tools what do I need
2363s to do that it said fragments in
2365s fragments and um I think copper
2367s fragments awesome so the zinc fragments
2370s and copper fragments are going to be
2372s from the metal working profession and
2374s then the Oak Timber will be from the
2377s lumber Milling profession so since we're
2379s here we can do the lumber milling and
2380s this is the station that you need right
2382s next to us so this is the debarker this
2384s is one of the the few stations that
2386s Lumber Milling has has the the debarker
2390s the heads saww um and I think the drying
2392s Kil along with the refinery so this is
2395s the the novice station
2398s um and I think this is an apprentice
2399s version here um since we're at a service
2401s building that's built um the service
2403s buildings usually come stocked with some
2405s some uh some better base stations and
2407s then you can kind of um progress them
2410s from there depending on how you you
2411s expand the buildings but um so why don't
2414s you interact with this and uh yeah I
2417s think this is the first time that we've
2418s ever done any processing processing yes
2421s absolutely now we we alluded to it a
2422s little bit when we were showcasing the
2424s uh the freeh holds uh but
2427s this is everyone's first look at kind of
2430s how processing works and um as you said
2433s we're looking to make some Oak Timber
2435s here um and as I've clicked on the Oak
2438s Timber to add fuel it says to the Oak
2442s Timber side talk to me Mike a little bit
2444s about what fuel does for
2448s processing so fuel is the basic
2451s requirements on top of the resources
2453s that you need to craft a thing so every
2456s processing station will require some
2457s kind of a fuel to automate the process
2462s to make these processed uh resources
2465s though most of the resources or any type
2467s of resource or items could technically
2470s have a fuel value attached to them and
2472s then each recipe will require some kind
2474s of a fuel value to uh to be met to be
2478s able to process these things so think of
2480s it as like if you're melting um ore you
2483s need to put uh fuel the fire to melt the
2485s ore right so that kind concept exists on
2488s all our processing stations so when you
2490s click on it uh you should be able to put
2493s the oak wood or anything that you have
2496s gathered oak wood yeah so I've added one
2500s of the oak wood and then I see I also
2503s have a number of different of um
2504s herbalism resources here as well do
2507s those act as fuel potentially yeah um
2509s most of our resources will have some
2511s kind of a Fel value to it and like I
2513s mentioned like some items too but for
2514s for this recipe you'll only need one
2516s some other recipes might need 100 or 50
2519s etc etc but the the thing is um some
2522s some items may be just um catered
2526s towards being a fuel right so something
2527s like charcoal or something like coal
2529s something like um anything that is just
2531s designated as a fuel will just have a
2534s very um efficient fuel value so you kind
2537s of want to save that for higher recipes
2539s or something simple like this one you
2541s can pretty much use anything that's
2542s common or or or lower or degrade or
2546s sorry
2547s the the tier one items uh to be in the
2550s fuel okay so i' so I've added in the
2554s wood for the fuel and now it's it has my
2557s fuel has been selected and I can start
2559s the job it says that the duration is 1
2561s minute now I'm noticing at the top of
2564s the processing station that we have uh
2567s three available slots is that a queue
2570s that players can use um and is it shared
2575s is it for just themselves me about that
2578s for node it's personal so we didn't want
2581s to congest like only three spots for
2584s every single person in the not that
2586s would have been pretty bad um so it's
2588s the the Q system is only for yourself
2591s but um something personal like freeh
2593s holds um would be um station based so if
2596s five people wanted to use one one
2598s station at the Freehold you have to wait
2599s in line and then that kind of comes into
2602s the family system we talked about on the
2603s free hole live stream where you want to
2606s have uh limited access to whoever is
2608s viable for the fuel or for the stations
2612s um but for any service buildings in the
2614s node um is all personal so you can queue
2616s up as much as you want and then someone
2618s else can just come by and use the same
2620s station and then que up for their
2621s station that's awesome additionally it
2625s will also be influenced by nodes so like
2627s right now you see three but it could be
2628s five it could be two simultaneous jobs
2630s Etc based how your node grows got it so
2633s there are specializations that the
2635s processor can take uh if the node should
2638s elect to do so citizens participate in
2641s that upgrade that would increase that
2643s size or perhaps even the efficiency of
2646s the processing jobs as well both speed
2649s uh quantity of receipt any Rarity procs
2651s anything all of those play a role and
2654s upgrade potential uh that the node might
2656s choose to specialize in right but um
2659s just like we we discussing uh free live
2661s stream as well the node um processing
2663s only goes up to journeyman so if you
2665s want to do the highest tier of uh
2668s processing you you probably want to seek
2670s out the freeold uh owners
2675s basically
2677s uhoh did I I I might be full hold on I
2682s can't claim it yet I need to I need to
2686s who needs this this cheap glint here
2690s actually move that down I I didn't mean
2693s to delete that whoops um okay you just
2696s throwing money away that's how rich sure
2698s pretty much um additional thing I would
2700s like to add for processing U as you can
2703s you could you could cancel the job um
2706s also so like let's say you accidentally
2707s scheduled wrong one and the only thing
2709s that gets consumed is the fuel so fuel
2711s is basically a SN for these job got it
2716s okay so fuel's always sunk regardless of
2718s if you cancel the job or not yeah
2720s another uh another thing as well is that
2723s um uh when you're when you're choosing
2725s the job you'll see kind of on the on the
2728s right hand side that we have something
2729s called job size oops and right now uh
2732s right now there's only the ability to
2734s make a one job size but um this in the
2737s same vein of um you know this having
2740s like more jobs that you can cue and like
2742s you know better stats that make the them
2744s go faster or proc extra resources uh job
2747s size is another thing that we could do
2749s right um so you you probably don't want
2752s to use three entire slots just to make
2755s you know three pieces of Oak would but
2757s if you had a job size that you know was
2758s 20 um you'd be able to uh make all 20 of
2762s those with the with the one job size so
2764s um so that's a little different than
2766s what people are used to with you know I
2768s I'm making exactly you know 17 pieces of
2771s of Oak Timber you might need to you know
2773s do a job SI of five plus one if you need
2777s specifically six so um that's awesome
2780s those are also influenced by
2782s customization options that the node can
2783s participate in uh as well and perhaps
2786s policies and or relics like all those
2788s things are an intricate web uh Boons
2791s benefits and downsides that apply to
2793s these different game functions exactly
2796s yeah very cool love it all right so we
2799s made some Timber gotcha yeah let's head

2807s you can crush up the the copper and zinc
2809s that you got into fragments and then we
2811s should have what we need to make you a

2913s you're trying to you know do errands
2914s throughout the node or in your Freehold
2916s or whatever right like should be able to
2918s look at the station and know what's
2919s going on with it so you know he's there
2921s working and you know once he's done he's
2923s going to stop and you can be like okay
2924s you know there's there's stuff ready to
2926s to pick up and have some visuals
2928s associated with that so U as much as we
2931s can have stuff you know rooted in World
2933s instead of you know throwing a bunch of
2935s UI in the play players face uh that's
2937s that's something that we're trying to do
2938s and is important to us that's very cool
2941s yeah and to add to that it's uh personal
2943s right so it's only like other people
2945s won't see you doing your U processing
2948s got it yeah in in nodes right the free
2950s the free hold ones would be uh since
2953s they are relevant to any of the people
2954s that have access to it You' you'd be

2994s there is some overlap there as those of

3006s you for both Gathering processing and
3009s crafting uh without needing necessarily
3011s a
3012s free yeah exactly so up to U journeyman
3017s you'll be um journeyman's uh type of
3020s gathering crafting and processing should
3022s be available pretty much everywhere um
3024s and then there the spe specializations
3026s really kicks in at the master and
3029s above

3189s flow of resources across the world in
3191s such a way that creates a bit of
3193s turbulence in the world market and
3194s economy and that's what we're trying to
3196s achieve with these World State

3442s and and build um but how do we influence
3446s that from a crafting
3448s perspective so the recipe that you
3451s learned is somewhat of a unique sword uh
3454s we want to introduce as uh mid- level
3456s maybe a little bit high but generally
3459s for itemization purposes we want to have
3462s a viable option for every build that
3465s players want to try I know that's a
3467s whole statement knows where his uh city
3469s is
3472s yeah where are we going we have a mini
3474s map
3475s guys come on this way I always get lost
3478s out here when I take my nightly
3480s strolls just over to

3510s um somewhat of a uh unique sword because
3513s it's a sword that has mag magic
3515s penetration so something that Mages
3517s maybe to might be able to use or um
3520s clerics um and then if we go to the
3524s crafter crafting station right here all
3528s right you should give them the my right
3534s uh trade

3544s sweet acting
3547s trade all right boom got some night opal
3554s do so now I see I have my learned recipe
3557s the night blade is under weapons
3559s category okay that's cool yeah um last
3563s sure we touched on this on different
3565s live streams but uh our crafting menus
3567s will have some required materials so
3569s those are the things that you must have
3571s at that certain Rarity so the N up opal
3574s and the moon Bell that's required and
3575s then we have the selectable section
3577s where you can put different uh Rarity
3580s amounts um you want to do the uh the
3583s zinc one first Stephen so out of there
3587s and then zc one and then now you can see
3589s that the item itself was uncommon and
3593s then if you add the fragments in oh I
3595s see what you're saying I see what you're
3596s saying the so the uncommon night blade
3599s is
3601s here by adding in these legendary zinc
3604s fragments yep if you Summit it now it
3606s turns rare oh okay cool and now you can
3610s see there's additional properties onto
3612s the item uh so things change and then if
3614s you put the Oak Timber also at legendary
3617s also legendary Oak okay got it and then
3620s now it becomes the heroic version of it
3622s and then that's increase um so these are
3624s the things we kind of want to explore on
3626s Crafting side where we introduce maybe
3629s new stat line or a different proportion
3632s or ratios of stats at certain uh tiers
3635s and when you craft these items with
3638s using better materials the Rarity of the
3640s item increases um for demonstration
3643s purposes we're using legendary but um
3646s basically when you use a higher tier
3648s then the ree is intended for so we could
3650s technically build this item with common
3653s and zinc fragments then that would
3655s produce an uncommon item but since we're

3665s obviously there's going to be a number
3666s of different types of selecta that you
3668s can incorporate as part of the crafting
3670s process each of them having unique
3672s results as part of the stat block for
3674s the weapon but also increasing the
3676s quality predicated on the quality of the
3679s selectable that you're contributing
3681s right that would be our sub recipe
3682s system that we'll kind of Highly touch
3685s on U so um a common copper sword might
3688s have sub recipes that changes the stat
3690s block completely which would be um let's
3693s say a brutal copper sword which um
3696s specializes in crit damage but that
3698s would be changing the selectable items
3700s it's from Oak Timber to Ash timber for
3702s example right and then when it's on a
3705s selectable level we can choose the the
3707s Rarity of those resources to increase
3709s the Rarity of the item produced awesome
3712s and each time you're kind of unlocking a
3714s different result with with regards to
3716s that particular recipe you're learning
3719s that interaction between the selectable
3721s materials and the output that comes from
3723s it so learning one recipe actually
3725s learns you a multitude of different
3727s potential um uh uh uh rewards from that
3731s one particular recipe yeah um we have
3736s something yeah uh something unique in
3738s our crafting system where we want to
3740s have recipe XP of some sort and then
3743s those sub recipes could earned by um
3746s leveling up your recipe which means that
3748s you have to craft the night blade
3749s multiple times to level it up to have a
3751s better result uh the sub recipe could be
3753s from a vendor recipe or World drops like
3756s we said earlier um but the idea is one
3759s type of item can have potential to be
3762s multiple different outcomes cool awesome
3765s okay let me go ahead and craft this
3769s weapon we've done it we've received a
3772s night Blade the loop is is complete oh
3776s my God we made it through the entire
3780s Loop let
3781s me I know let's see let's take a look at
3785s what we have in our inventory here so I
3790s see we have a heroic night blade that's
3792s doing some physical damage and magical
3794s penetration with some magical damage as
3796s well and if I compare that current lead
3799s my Longbow obviously we have some
3800s comparable version there but let me go
3802s ahead and equip this

3808s good that looks awesome you're styling
3810s you are styling you put in the work and
3812s now you're styling oh I love it that

3847s one particular recipe of course of many
3850s as itemization is a very key component
3853s of of player progression within the
3855s within the world of Vera um and as you
3857s can see from Gathering to processing to
3861s crafting um this is the type of
3863s experience and the unique aspects uh of
3866s that process that is uh within ashes of
3869s creation we do these demonstrations so
3871s that you guys get an early look during
3873s development on the direction of this
3876s particular core Loop this core system to
3878s ashes um and we want your feedback on it
3881s what did you think about the Gathering
3882s the processing the stations those the
3885s times that it takes the CU system for it
3888s um the unique interactions with the
3889s recipes the progression of the recipes
3892s um uh the tool dependencies and the the
3895s skill tree that you saw um the unique
3897s World state that influences the economy
3899s and the ability of of players to
3901s accumulate these resources and move them
3903s across the world we're fresh off of a
3905s caravan stream as well where you kind of
3908s see uh how those materials those
3911s resources that wealth gets acred and
3913s trans transited across the world um so
3918s all of these things are things we want
