Lock & load, let's talk weapons.

https://i.redd.it/082qppaupyo21.jpg

From assault rifles to shotguns, SMGs to MGs, we've got a variety of weapons to aid your success in Battlefield V.

Do you prefer long-range engagements, sitting back and picking off the enemy? What's your go to sniper rifle?

What about that up-close and personal close quarter combat? Shotgun, pistol, SMG?

We've seen a lot of feedback from the community regarding the amount of weapons, certain weapons not in the game, and weapons you'd like to see. We've also seen some great conversation regarding balance, cross-class weapons, and alternative ways of using weapons (shotguns as the secondary instead of a sidearm).

So let's dive in together, shall we? Let's talk about the Primary and Secondary Weapons (Melee weapons too, if you like) and focus on what your go-to weapon is, what you can do without, what you'd like to see.

As always with these types of discussions, we ask you keep it friendly and constructive. Feel free to disagree and debate with someone's feedback/opinion, but don't be disagreeable about it.

Fire when ready.

I’m 100% a close quarters combat type of guy. My aims to potato to run with ARs, SLRs, or Snipers. When playing medic I run exclusively the 900 RPM spec’d Thompson. While on support I rotate between the M1917 shotgun, FG-42, or MG-42 depending on the map size, average range of engagements, and squad make. I tend to run with the mark 4 revolver to finish people off. I’m quite happy with the gun play in CQC. I’m currently sitting at 4k+ melee kills split pretty evenly between with kurkri and the club. While I love meleeing my one main gripe is the long animations trigger too often and end up getting me killed. If I die while meleeing I’d prefer it to be my fault vs being stuck in an animation long enough for people to see me. A Dud club detonation is an acceptable death animation. Please bring back the Dud club.

So, I feel like you either need to glint all of the 3x scopes or none of them. This Snipers get glint on 3x scopes but Assault and Supports do not is silly.

Can we see shotguns on every class? it just would make life SO MUCH easier for all classes to have a consistent close range option. Here's my reasoning:

ASSAULT - already have close range options, give them more to increase variety and playstyles.

MEDIC - more consistent close range option and keeps them at close range where they do their job best - sanitätering!

SUPPORT - Already have three gun classes - more than the others. making shotguns on all classes gives them more options

RECON - Now this is the tough one. Personally, i think recons deserve a good close range option, the SLRs are horrible and snipers require a lot of skill close up to get that one shot headshot if you have a far range sight on. Giving them shotguns allows them to get up close and personal with the enemy and play more aggressively, while still using their spotting abilities to give the team the info advantage. they can stay in chokes and spot enemies down the route, then push up and take them out up close. They could just snipe them from afar, but theres nothing more fun than filling a nazi full of lead from point blank. Others may say they should stay long range, because this will encourage camping, but that just means the long range recons get more sitting targets, while the shotty recons get some high impact close up business! Its a win-win for both in this class.

Thats personally why i believe they should all get shotguns, but of course DICE would have to mess around with a LOT to see how this fits the game. Just a suggestion after all.

Oh and one final point - Slug M1897 or GTFO

EDIT - Extended support reasoning

I am a big fan of shotguns for every class.
