That doesn't work because this sub flames me when I do that - even though I've been as active as possible (and posting on Reddit and Forums isn't my entire job as a CM, though it is a big critical part to keep up with the community and share details).
The past few days I've actually had some significant personal life stuff going on (I've had to take a few days off because my apt is being sold and my wife and I have 6 weeks to move while there's still a pandemic going on and infection rates are rising, but that's my own bag of crap to deal with, but it is why I have had been offline for a few days) so you'll have to forgive me for not being as active as I have been in the past. Additionally, with all the things going on in the US AND the World regarding racial injustice over the past couple of weeks, our global channels (within all of EA) have taken a step back to listen to other voices on the internet. This doesn't mean I'm not reading what's being said. It doesn't mean I don't share the feedback with the various dev teams.
Plus, we just launched on Steam and we're working to get the up-to-date on the details of BF3, BF4, BFH, BF1, and BFV.
This doesn't mean I'm not going to post (because here I am.) But let's honestly look at how any post/message we share is usually received -
- "No information to share" - flamed and insulted
- "Have forwarded the feedback, will update when I have something to share" - flamed and insulted
- Sharing of information that the community doesn't like, but it's the way it is - flamed and insulted
- Being silent while we wait for info to share - flamed and insulted
I'm not saying this like "poor me" or looking for sympathy - far from it. I'm posting this to realign reality. The phrase "damned if you do, damned if you don't" is quite appropos.
And this doesn't minimize the frustration I KNOW folks in this sub have towards Battlefield V - a lot of valid criticism ( and some that's a bit out there, for sure).
And before the inevitable "it's your job" -
Sharing information, working with the community (with - that means it's a joint venture between two parties) , and escalating feedback and issues, reporting, fighting for what the community needs/wants (and y'all don't see 90% of that fight because it's not critical for you to see it). That's my job.
Are CM's the sounding board for frustration within a gaming community? You betcha. And we know this when we get into this job role. (Because it ain't about the money.)
