After posting these you are nowhere to be found. Yes, you have a life we all do. But this is your job and frankly most people would say it’s being done poorly.

Well, I'm not going to respond to abusive insults. Any information I have to share is downvoted and perpetuates the myth that by being abusive, they get attention. So I'm done with that.

Most of these are just long, long awaited questions. Angry little fingers aren’t an excuse to not answer the community. This is still your job, mind you.

I know what my job is. It's to relay information to the Devs from the community and from the Devs to the community, to take feedback from the community regarding the game, features, bugs, etc. and escalate them, etc.

And trust me when I say, if I had information from the Devs to relay, I would be sharing it. Therein lies the issue. I don't have answers to some of the questions - or an update beyond "they're still working to address XYZ". And to be absolutely blunt, even when I give the answer from the Devs, if it's not what some folks want to hear - perhaps it's a bandwidth issue, or out of the scope of design, etc. - I'm accused of "not listening", "not caring" and then I get heaps of insults and abuse, including people telling me how to do my job. If I provide an answer and it changes at the last minute, I'm blamed for being misleading, so a lot of times I hold on to the last possible second before answering some questions, just in case a dev changes something at the last minute. The first thing I do when I login to work 2 hours before my normal hours is hit up devs to find out any status changes because that's the first thing I want to share with the community.

When I have actual information to share that has been given to me from the Developers, I will be sharing it. Because I do want to get these answers for the community regarding tank body customization, pilot/tanker customization, "WHEN WILL AL-SUNDAN BE PLAYABLE ON CONQUEST?!", stuttering issues, DX12 issues, sound issues affecting some folks, etc.

And to be fair, some folks repeatedly ask the same quesiton over and over, despite being told an ETA or a decision from the Devs, just to incite the community to more negativity. Not everyone, not even a majority, but it happens.

Have a good one.

Dude I have respect for you but seriously that is the laziest excuse I think you could have come up with. I'm not saying a lot of people don't take it too far sometimes, but it is highly frustrating when the game is very much on its deathbed and we don't get the answers we need to resuscitate it.

Because I've already responded to this elsewhere, I'm just gonna toss this link here: https://www.reddit.com/r/BattlefieldV/comments/crd7dj/battlefield_v_weekly_debrief_august_16_bombastic/ex41tjn?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x

And me not tolerating abusive insults isn't a lazy excuse. I 100% understand frustration - I have my own with the lack of information I'm given, then I get to feel all of y'alls. But I don't go insulting/abusing the community or getting abusive to the Devs just because I'm frustrated. And it doesn't have to do with my job. It's just not something I would do.

/u/Braddock512 about a hour ago Apex came back to they community readdressing the concerns about the Crown event and the legend skins. The post ( on reddit ) really shows they listened to the feedback and came to a decision about how a change in they store doesnt empty the players pockets.

Can you take a look at it and perhaps adjust it to the problem within the BFV store/armoury? We dump feedback on you guys 24/7 and we not heard a single word about the armoury but Apex came to the table within days of the problem being raised.

It's definitely a great step in the right direction for Apex Legends, and the Armory rotations, contents, etc. is something I regularly annoy multiple teams about.

Each time I mention that Epic items won't be purchasable with Company Coin, it gets downvoted to oblivion, like I made that decision. It's a fact of the game and completely out of my hands. What I make sure to do every time I talk about the Armory internally is discuss how the community feels about the amount of Company Coin items that are available, the rarity and uniqueness, the lack of authentic uniforms, etc.
And sometimes I get feedback, sometimes I don't. When I do, I share it - when I can (because if I share stuff TOO early and it gets pulled/cancelled/changed, it's on ME , even if I was just the messenger.) When I don't get an update/info, I share that too. And that goes over REALLY well. :)

(Now, I'm not saying YOU are ridiculous or unreasonable, but we have a life.)

No one said that you did go insulting anyone though? Like I said, I know there are people who take it too far, I'm not condoning that. I'm simply saying that with how piss poor the game has been handled (which I know you won't publicly agree with, you work for them) in regards to everything ranging from uniforms to game breaking bugs, people have had enough. Much like you, everyone does have a breaking point and whether you guys want to admit or not, this game has exceeded almost everyone's limit.

Now in regards to the Devs, such as Nicholas, I haven't seen anything said about them that they don't deserve. I'm sure there are things being said that cross the line, but most of what I have seen is legit criticism that the company seems to lack the capability of taking. You guys (not you specifically) have attacked us and referred to us as uneducated when it is very clear we know more than the entire studio does about the setting they chose. You guys should have known that eventually it would come back and bite you all.

I feel bad that by being the community manager, you have to take all the heat. Like I said, I respect you and I know you have nothing to do with this, but you have to understand what I've listed above. You are one of the few voices we have when it comes to communicating with devs, so when we feel disrespected and not listened to, it hurts the community. I hope I'm making sense here and not just rambling.

I'm not going to get into the comments someone, who no longer works here, said over a year ago.

Regarding some comments from some devs, you gotta understand this: while I may not agree with how some folks have responded to criticism or frustration from the community, I'm not gonna drag them through the mud. Trust me when I say this: when someone says something boneheaded on Twitter/Reddit, etc. and it creates more work for me and PartWelsh because we don't get to focus on talking about the game, but rather talking about what So-and-So said and how it impacted the community, we’re unnecessary distracted. And we address things internally. I don't try to make my co-workers' jobs harder for them, and they don’t want make mine harder for me. (That's fair, right? 🙂 )

RE: the state of the game - man, it's frustrating right now. And I feel that frustration, just as y'all do. But I truly believe we're going to get ahead of the issues, we're going to get the game in a great state, and we have a lot of awesome content coming. But I'm not going to sit here and cheerlead it until we can SHOW you that. Actions over words.

Mistakes happen, deadlines slip. I'm a programmer, I've been there, but your Dev team don't seem to be accountable for the failures to stick to your announced roadmaps and promised features OR the people publishing those dates are not in touch with reality and you take the brunt of it every time.

Somewhere something is going wrong - and it's visible from outside of your company which means it's serious. Obviously we have no idea what is wrong so people hurl abuse at you and demand information and answers.

I guess you know all this but I just hope you are looking after yourself (mentally) and you know that the ranting is not aimed at you personally but is born of frustration and disappointment. I hope you can kick back and have a nice weekend, there are plenty of us (less vocal) that just want to see the game succeed and are rooting for you guys.

In an effort to be constructive, is there anything we as a community can do to help?

(Okay, don't hate me, but I have to keep my replies to your extremely ON-POINT questions very short, so stay with me.)
Oh yes.
Yes.
Sometimes.
To be fair, I make my share of mistakes - and I gladly take the heat for those, because I learn from them (I hope). And I hope I can say the same for others. ;)
I'm good mentally. But I appreciate your concern. (I'll always be crazy, but that's normal for me.)

In an effort to be constructive, is there anything we as a community can do to help?

That's a hard one to answer. The reason it's hard is because I can't ask/expect anything right now. We have to show YOU all by our ACTIONS where we're going .I guess if I had one request of the community - and it's ballsy for me to even suggest - just watch. Just watch. I want us to succeed so much in this game, not because it's my job (that would be nice), but because I'm a fan of this franchise. Heck, I have a giant Battlefield logo on my forearm. I'm a veteran since Codename Eagle and then Battlefield 1942.

like you said, it is not in your hands, you just the messenger but we want those messages going back and forth between the community and dice, because that way we give each other input and help each other out which should lead to improvement of the game / community

if you aint got any news, thats cool, cant expect news every day, however, the community always has news, be it bugs, suggestions, feedback etc, at least the communication keeps going and that is what makes us happy

not sharing news gets us impatient, frustrated.. we'll be asking "why doesnt dice do anything or share anything?" and we'll be giving dice mean looks etc.. we dont wanna be sitting ducks as that is gonna lead to a bad reputation for dice

anyway, im glad you shared man, keep it up

To be clear, the only reason I mentioned the downvotes thing in that reply is because at a certain threshold of downvote, they get hidden/collapsed. I've literally had folks PM me asking me a question that I had answered but they missed because of the heavy downvote. Reddit Karma isn't important to me.

Now, one thing I have to note - if someone shares a bug/issue, there's not much I can say when they share it other than "Will forward this to our QA/Devs for investigation", which sorta frustrates people sometimes - like, I can't fix the issue right there on the Reddit thread. LOL So, I've built a Trello board - we're working on the team structure/process to roll it out, but it's gonna be great. Have you seen the Apex Legend Trello? Ours is going to be all that and, hopefully, more. Tracked and Known Bugs, Feature/Feedback Requests, Update Notes, Communciation/Blogs, etc.

In my 17 years of playing this franchise, this is the first time I ever worried about seeing a mainline BF game dying off before year 2. I hope what you guys got cooking for the fall and for year 2 blows the doors off people and brings some much needed momentum and more importantly some f**king positivity back. Sorry for ranting or rambling on.

I find so many Conquest servers on the East Coast. Being on the West Coast, that’s not as much fun. Lmao.

They are not allowed to grant things without proof. If they do, it can end up costing them their job. And, just a warning - not an accusation - if you try to game support and phish for content you aren’t supposed to have, it can cost you your account.

They're pinned to the top of the thread. You know that.

Stop deflecting negative criticism for petty reasons, people are asking for communications improvement and you're rejecting anything you don't like.

Negative criticism is absolutely fine. Constructive negative criticism is better. Don’t try to confuse “negative criticism” with toxic abuse and insults. The latter is wholly unnecessary and something I don’t have to engage with. Not deflecting anything.

over 5 years ago - /u/Braddock512 - Direct link

And here you are again, trying to deflect criticism with claims of "toxic abuse and insults". DICE's PR has been absolutely destroyed by their failure to properly manage social media and customer relations over the past year, you need to remember this.

You're a "community manager", you need to be able to handle criticism from your customers.

Literally said criticism is acceptable. Abusive insults are not. If you can’t tell the difference and don’t see the problem, that’s on you, mate. This isn’t hard to understand. Or maybe it is? Either way, it’s ridiculous to believe, for one second, anyone who works on any game is “required” to take abuse. I’ll take honest, constructive criticism- positive and negative - all day.

Buddy, you gotta stop. Did you even read my comment?

I'm saying that you keep deflecting legit criticism that you can't handle as "abuse". It doesn't work that way.

DICE's customer relations and social media handling has been a nuclear disaster ever since the BFV trailer dropped. They will be using the marketing around BFV as an example in future school textbooks as an example of how not to interact with your customers.

You need to keep in mind how bad DICE's PR has been when doing your job. It's not your fault, but you're representing DICE and your customers are clearly going to be frustrated based on past experiences with the business you are representing. Trying to deflect the valid criticism that they give as "abuse" yet again is just making things worse.

I don’t deflect valid criticism as abuse. I am literally talking about insults - you do know the difference, right? When someone complains, rightfully so, about the state of BFV, bugs, issues, it’s not abuse. It’s criticism. And I take that and share it with the team. When someone says “stupid $&@%# devs should be homeless” (or worse - and it happens a lot), that’s not criticism. That’s abuse. There’s a difference. And the latter isn’t something I’m going to engage with. Don’t try to whitewash SOME folks bad behavior (and it’s only some, not the entire community, or even a large part of the community) with a “legit criticism” veneer. That’s my point. And that’s all I’m going to say about this.

Have a great day and a great weekend. (And because some folks MAY look at that with a sarcastic lens, I truly do mean that. I do want you, everyone, to have a great day and a great weekend. And I’m going to do the same. Take care.)

Hey Veekay. As previously noted, it’s not a critical priority for the devs right at this time because the team is working to get the game back on track. Even discussions internally are temporarily put on hold to focus on the bugs and gameplay issues that they’re trying to resolve. That being said, I’m going to reignite the conversation as we head up to 4.6 and see where we are regarding the community’s request and the ideas PartWelsh and I have floated to them.

I appreciate the fact you communicate these things to the teams and have to deal with such a mess. At this point it's on the teams that you communicate to, to deliver on the feedback from the community. We are passionate about this franchise and that's why we are upset. We want this game to be the best it can be. But the fact that the dev teams aren't delivering/communicating to you and in turn, to us, is frustrating. They aren't giving much to work with and they should be held more accountable if they aren't already. But anyway keep doing what you're doing, it'll only help us understand more of what's going on behind the scenes.

I’m not throwing them under the bus, by any means, so i hope my comment didn’t seem like I’m scapegoating them. They’ve got a whole pile of things on their plate and they’re having to prioritizing various things (and shift priorities due to new bugs/issues), so it’s not radio silence, but some things are put on the back burner until we can get bugs like stuttering, crashing, etc solved and out of the way.
