Private servers had:
- Amazing team balancing. At the end of the round most servers shuffled the players around to make sure there were no 1vs32 players.
Team balancing in this game is dead and nonexistent.
- Amazing anticheat. In all of my time playing BF3 and BF4, I encountered 1 or 2 memorable hackers that were swiftly dealt with.
Anticheat in the game is pretty much dead and nonexistent.
- Rotating game modes. My favorite server had team deathmatch, conquest (I haven't played BF4 in a while, it might have had a different name.) etc.
The developers promote one type of game mode for weeks on end which makes the game boring. There are no options anymore. What if I like to only pay domination? Why am I forced into one game mode?
- Community.
Communities in this game are pretty much dead.
- Active moderators. Being able to call a moderator or ask an active moderator to help with a toxic/hacker player was just amazing.
There are no moderators in this game.
- Normal or private servers or custom servers that dealt with the TTK issue, if there ever was one. If you didn't like dying in a few shots, you had the choice to find a NORMAL private server. If you liked realism with fast TTK, you had the choice to find a HARDCORE private server.
Without private servers, this game has no team balancing, no anticheat, does have toxic players, has terrible gun play, no moderators, and no community, and so much more.
What did it cost the game when private servers were removed? The game's soul.
