I know everyone's up in arms about netcode in general already, but jesus, what did you do the TTD DICE?

It literally seems like half the people killing me are cheating since I'm just copping 1 frame deaths left right and center. It had improved so much since launch but now it feels like it's regressed back to the beginning.

I think the problem relates to volume: When the sound is present, a tank 10m away has the same perceived volume to me as a tank 1m away. Gunshots sound exactly the same 2m in front of me as they sound 10 or 15m out. Given that context, I imagine the problem with footsteps is that from like 2m - 10m, they're coming through my headset at the same 10m volume, then from 2m to 0m, they finally start to get louder.

u/Braddock512 - I think I have some videos that I could share with the team, but even if I don't already, it happens often enough that I could record some. Obviously, I only want to do that if you think it could help the team with figuring out the problem

Why would you need any links, to begin with?? You literally need to play five rounds of the game to see more than enough of occurances yourselves!

I am starting to doubt that "the team" even plays their own game at this point...

I’ve literally never experienced audio issues except for the end of round music playing through the match or the plane engine bug. I hear footsteps fine, I hear vehicles fine, etc. However, I know this isn’t the case for everyone so I requested links.

And I play almost daily.

  • Estimating the location & distance of sound's source has become easier
  • I can hear clear footsteps from farther away
  • Footsteps only seem to be missing when there's a lot of other sound, too

That last point implies to me that either:

  • Not a bug: Footsteps are playing, but are quieter than other things. (This implies it's a design choice, which wouldn't be my preference, but that's not my decision)
  • Is a bug or Accidental: Footsteps have a lower priority than other sounds and are getting dropped when too many others are happening at once. (There are issues with memory usage right now and this issue has become more noticeable recently, so this would make sense).

Anyway, I'm going to try to send you some examples of gameplay with each of those settings.

Side note, I'm seeing clearly why squashing bugs can be so difficult... those devs deserve a case of beer or something.
