Why pick the Madsen over the Bren? They both have the same rate of fire, both handle identically (at least how I spec'd them), but the Bren has a 30 round mag compared to the Madsen's initial 25 and downs someone in less hits. The two even have a similar aesthetic. The extended mag for the Madsen is what separates it from the other, but it just isn't enough of a gimmick for me to pick it over the Bren.
Inevitably, I'll find myself in CQB, 1v1 fight with someone using a superior weapon, but the Bren's slightly higher damage output is enough to overcome 514rpm handicap and gives me a decent chance of surviving. In a similar scenario, I tend to lose most fights using the Madsen. I also believe the Bren is a more accurate weapon at a distance than the Madsen; it doesn't seem to jump around as much on the bipod.
Bottom line, it just feels like anything the Madsen can do, the Bren does better.
Thoughts on the two?
