Last I checked, the Choke Throw is sitting around 500k. The eliminations? About 200k.

Sure, getting a kill is a bit tougher than landing a single ability hit. What this is showing, however, is that no one is really following up Maul's attacks, let alone utilizing his Choke correctly. Most Mauls I see play him the same way: Y'all lead every attack with his Choke Throw.

It is the most annoying thing to deal with. Maul rounds a corner? Choke Throw. Maul manages to sneak up on someone? Choke Throw. Slowly approaching a blocking hero in anticipation of a duel? Choke Throw.

It's also annoying because I know it can be utilized better. The ability does such piss-poor damage (75, give or take a bit) that you should never lead with this. By the time you've caught up to whoever you've thrown, they're already regening the little scratch you gave them. Ultimately, Maul has done nothing but reposition the fight.

Instead, try to use Choke Throw in the middle of your attack. Hit someone a few times with your saber, then use the ability to stack on some lasting damage, rather than waste it on someone who'll regen it before you can catch back up to them.

I want to see more people playing Maul smarter. Just because he can block now doesn't mean he always should. He launched without one to emphasize his extremely aggressive and agile playstyle. Only reason he has it now is due to the amount of knockdown options the LS has.

Don't stand there and block; use his movement and speed to make your enemy feel like you're attacking from every angle at once. Don't Choke Throw the instant you see an enemy, use it in the middle of combat to keep them off balance.

This is genuinely a great writeup that encourages people to tackle things a little bit differently, welldone /u/WookieSin.
