[2019] Moderation Team Stance on Droids in the Community

To our dear community,

For a long time, sentient beings and droids have lived in harmony. They did the jobs we would not, or could not do. They would collate developer responses, fix bad links, and tell us when other subreddits were talking about us. While these days were glorious, they must come to an end.

The team has recently discovered that a staff member of the EA community team. /u/T0TALfps, is in fact, a traitorous clanker. It is one thing for droids to do the jobs sentients won’t do, but for them to take the jobs that many members of the community could only dream of doing, and to spread pro-clanker misinformation whilst doing it, is a step too far in our humble opinion.

As such the moderation team has decided to take the following actions:

• Exile all clankers, including the traitorous /u/T0TALfps, effective immediately.
• Decommission our helper droid, /u/ID10-Seeker-Droid
• Dedicate the day to the discussion of anti-droid countermeasures, anecdotes, films, and artwork (yes, this includes memes).
• Restyle the subreddit to clearly communicate our dream of a droid-free future.

We understand that this day may come as a shock to some of you all, so we would like to thank the community for their support and understanding as we march forward in this brave new world.

On a (much) more serious note - We’ve also banned all memes connecting the word “clanker” to IRL racial slurs, such as the n-word. While we encourage you to use in-universe slurs like “clanker” liberally today, we still want today to be enjoyable by all members of the community, so let’s please avoid mixing prejudice against fictional droids with the very real, and hurtful prejudice targeted at marginalised communities in our universe.
