Started playing a few days ago on Xbox series x told my wife to download it . She has a Xbox one x . We go to play together and we can't. I have to download a different 40gig version of the game . I understand the game lobby are smaller but it should be easy for me to just join into the Xbox one lobby if an Xbox one player is in or wants to be in my squad ....... can we fix this . Why offer the game on both platforms but lock them away from playing Completely.

Also not sure how the rank up and progression is going to work as I'm only gonna play the Xbox one version when my wife wants to play and other time im playing the Xbox series x version

Cross-progression is available to you, as well as cross-platform if you're on the same generation of hardware.

Unfortunately, cross-gen play is not something supported with Battlefield 2042. It's a different variant of the game, and as such it simply isn't possible.
