[2023] Is BF 2042 finally playable by now?

As I've seen a few Youtuber's (mainly jackfrags :P) promote the game and I must admit it looks somewhat decent I'm thinking about getting the game myself. However there are still a few things that they simply don't show or talk about:

• Are specialists still that stupid and annoying?
• How is the overall performance on PC?
• Is it mainly 128 players or back to 64 now? And is it still absolute chaos and a mess?
• How is the weapon balance?
• Are maps finally playable (enough cover)?
