In fact I've never even had an online subscription before. However, considering the game discount, and the fact that my friends are urging me to play, I'm really tempted to do so tonight. I've plenty of experience with single-player action shooters; doom, resident evils, army of two games, goldeneye, cod waw, cod mw, cod blops 3, tom clancy's division, gears of wars, etc. But I've always felt like I've been missing out on this genre. Is this a good place to start? How thoroughly can I expect to get my ass handed to me? How much effort to git gud? I fully expect what's gonna happen walking into an online server of people who've spent two decades on competitive first person shooters, but how high is the skill floor for it to be fun? I'm on ps4; is there anything I need to be aware of? Thanks .

New players join Call of Duty pretty often and I would consider us a good place to start an online MP journey! We have a VS Bots lobby that you can ramp the difficulty up and down on to help get acclimated to our controls if you aren't already.

Our Game Modes also explain how the match is played while loading into the map via tooltips and also while navigating the menus.

You're going to have to create an Activision account (More accounts, I know) which will let you play online and also cross-play with other players. Once you have an online service account (Xbox Live / PlayStation Plus / Battle.net ID), make an Activision account and link them together. Make sure you two-factor authenticate everything to stay safe!

You can create an Activision Account at https://www.callofduty.com/.
