I'm a level 21(nearly 22) crusader with 1087 gs, been playing the game for about a week and just got to Gideon and it feels like a whole other game. I can get like 10% off him but I just can't consistently dodge his attacks enough at all. Feels like a huge difficulty spike and I'm stuck and don't really know how to continue here.

Gideon isn't a level or a gear check. It's a skill check to make sure you are ready you know your character well enough for more difficult group content. It helps to have a high damage weapon but mostly this fight is all about reading telegraphs and managing your stamina for dodging.

Wear headphones. You can use the 3D sound to locate Gideon quickly when he teleports. Here's a guide I made https://youtu.be/3BY3mpB3XEc

My alts would like to disagree.

Original 1st attempt was game changing. My mage main had to go buy potions, food and upgrade armor /weopons ect. Learn mechanics and really fight hard.

Priest alt got there at lvl20, had mages armor and weopon A grade legend +2. Was just another boss, took 10mins being priest but nothing was insta kill and always had heal orb ready.

Mage 3rd alt. Level 19 with GS 1442. Minimax built. .. 2 meteor, 3 firebomb and few combos... Took all hits dodged nothing just outhealed his dps with serpent ring.... 2min encounter.

Gear really does mean Alot.

It makes a difference. But before Gideon's last 3 nerfs people were beating him with red gear score warnings. It took ages but what really mattered was knowing when to dodge

That's my point. Gear means everything.

Can be beaten with red gear score with dodge and perfect performance. Skill used.

Or

Can be beaten by a lvl20mage who doesn't dodge anything, just stands in its face and do more damage than the boss can utilising strong gear. No skill just healing ring and top gear

Hence gear negates skill.

Haha yes very true. With enough gear you can ignore the mechanics to pretty much everything. But it's nice to know that with some practice, you can complete the same objective even with inferior gear
