90s jump straight into questions there's a
91s lot of questions here to to be answers
93s spicy ones casual ones but I divided

108s will will there be Improvement to the
110s top percentage of ranked Masters as far
113s any pro semi pro pro level of Gamers of
117s games is the standard of gold in power

120s so basically improvements to
123s ranked um maybe Frank do you want to
126s take this one interesting uh yeah in
129s general we of
131s course to take a step back right we we
134s had this moment where we transitioned
136s from the previous for power League to
137s rank earlier this this year and the the
142s main purpose of it was to to transition
144s to a world where just more people are
146s playing
147s ranked and we said ourself a goal for
151s this like to to actually measure how
152s many people are playing and that goal
156s was more than achieved so instead of
158s just like a number of below 5% of our
161s daily active players playing ranked
163s which is like you know five people out
166s of a room with 100 people which is not
168s great now there's you know a significant
171s amount of people playing double digits
174s which is
175s great
177s um and so we want to sustain that the
180s that's kind of important piece like
181s creating features for just 5% of the
184s community is kind of wasteful and
187s locking content behind that is also
189s wasteful so we we will probably not go
192s back to a world where we have a very
194s exclusive thing going on however we do
198s think that rank could be better um we we
201s would like rank to be very competitive
203s on the high
204s end and yeah we're looking into options
207s what we can do with that we don't have
208s anything yet to talk about but it's
211s something we're actively thinking about
213s right
214s now I think when it comes to ranked like
218s the the issue with the top level
219s gameplay is that you have people that
221s are um able to more easily achieve that
224s high level where they're able to get to
225s Masters and so while it is now way more
229s accessible for people to achieve Masters
232s it really affects the matchmaking at
233s that top level so if you are if you do
236s want to be a top player and you get to
237s that top level once you've reached m
240s those are the only people you're going
241s to match with so if you say hey I want
244s to push you know as high of Elo as I can
247s doesn't matter if you're like 30,000 ELO
249s you're still going to be facing those
250s 9,000 ELO players and the matchmaking
253s doesn't get any more
255s competitive yeah I think that's a that's
257s just a matter of fact of life you know
260s when you're on top of the pyramid
261s there's just not more people so so it's
264s really like that's that so yeah again
268s once you're on top of the pyramid you're
269s on top of of the pyramid there's nothing
272s you can really do about that so either
274s you go to extreme length for the
276s matchmaking times
278s or well I don't know what the
281s alternative have a bigger pool of
282s players but um but there's only so much
285s to do about that the maybe to spend
288s second question which is more about the
290s distribution of the ELO ranks that is a
293s very natural distribution of how numbers
295s just are distributed that's not changing
297s significantly season over season you
299s have of course a of people on bronze one
302s and then it's falling down quickly and
304s then there's some logical steps right
306s when you when you cross from gold into
308s Diamond there's of course a falloff
310s because of how we structured the whole
312s system because you know more people have
315s 12 Brawlers at max power level yeah so
319s he his question like uh for people
322s listening uh he he asked to have some
325s graphs and we have prepare like the
327s distribution graphs of yeah this one
331s it's like this is like uh is the last
334s season of power league and then the last
336s season of ranked like you can see like
339s the the blue one Spar league and then
342s you can see how like a lot of the people
344s are like in bronze and uh Bron 2 and
347s bronze 3 meaning they were not
349s playing but also like the legendary like
353s you can see like the the blue one is
355s almost invisible as in Masters uh but
358s you can see that in although there are a
360s lot of people there it's not like a huge
363s amount of people like it still is a very
365s tiny percentage and still uh like uh we
370s are aware of the problem still like I I
372s know that the pro players they want to
374s feel that the Masters should feel
376s competitive like that every match should
378s be sweaty um and I think considering
382s like this the this graph you can see
384s that we don't need to tweak anything in
387s below Masters right or it could be like
389s maybe that we only change something in
391s Masters and that could solve the problem
393s already and then it just like they
396s speedrun to Masters and then that's
397s where rank starts for then could be one
399s solution but uh we are aware of the
401s problem and is something that we want to
403s tackle
405s eventually I think there's just a
406s practical reality really that at some
408s point you know even in that sub one%
412s that is in Masters there's still skill
415s differences mhm and and at some point
418s there's just again you have this comprom
420s between matchmaking times and match
422s length do you want to wait 30 minutes to
424s get a 90c
425s match and that is uh that there will
428s always be the compromise and I
430s understand that people seek more
432s competitive games but then that's
434s probably not ranked that's probably
437s OTS so that then then maybe you have to
440s look outside of the game to find
442s competitions like on matcherino for for
444s example Etc so that we have solutions
446s for that it's just that they're not
449s necessarily inside the game game yeah
451s and then his following question is I
453s know it's important to look at the
454s majority at the player base but the
456s hardcore player are feeling really left
457s out are there any plans to improve the
459s late game for us the one the
462s 0.1% ladder rewards ranker rewards
466s Etc I think I can quickly touch on the
469s trophy system yeah maybe it's like so
472s the trophy system today it's all right
475s right it works it's it's one of these
477s things that we had in the game since
478s forever it's a of brawl and it's not
481s going to go anywhere as a system however
484s today there's I think two desires which
487s are competing with each other there's on
489s one side the average player which is a
492s line chare of our players those guys
494s want to push trophies and right now
496s they're getting still stuck relatively
497s early in the system because then things
499s get really really sweaty and on the
502s other side you have endgame players who
503s want to push High trophies that want to
505s compete with each other on that high
507s level at the same time matchmaking is
509s incredible slow you know you see that
512s when you go to Twitch and you try to to
514s find some people who like wait 10
516s minutes play one match wait 10 minutes
519s play one match which is super
520s unsatisfying makes it also unattractive
522s to actually stream on Twitch when you
524s push trophies so the question is can we
526s find a system that is solving both make
530s it more attractive for people to push
531s trophies give more people the chance to
533s push trophies and at the same time have
536s something competitive at the end where
538s people can compete for a rank or high
541s score or something like that and it's
543s something we're actively working on
544s right
546s now and his last question The Limited
550s limited events have been crazy popular
552s but the biggest draw back has to be that
555s there hasn't been many permanent
557s features which is like one of the
558s trending topics right now after we
560s announced the SpongeBob
563s collaboration and SpongeBob is off to a
565s fantastic start by the way um so it's
568s like it's it's it's it's really
570s incredible all these I mean we are
573s obviously super excited about the
574s temporary events right SpongeBob now but
577s before uh Godzilla was like was crazy
580s good for the game um the the classic
584s brawl event was also great for the game
585s getting us through summer in a better
587s way than than ever before so so those
590s temporary events are very important but
593s I think the learning from the last half
595s year or so as a team is that we maybe
598s over indexed a little bit on the tempor
600s content because like we we do feel that
603s there's issues in the game and that
604s there's systems in the game we want to
607s make better so so we
609s are yeah we we acknowledge that and we
613s feel the same in the team it's like hey
615s there's bigger things we would like to
617s change but we have all this temporary
619s content so so we need to find a better
622s balance so I guess what I'm saying is
625s that for the looking over the next year
627s or so and we're going to talk more about
629s that in a separate video but over the
631s next year or so we're going to find a
634s better balance for this between
636s temporary additions to the game which
637s are really hype and which really help
639s the game in the bigger scheme of things
642s and making permanent
643s improvements and uh hopefully some of
645s those things will already start showing
647s with the next update um yeah that's that
652s I'm curious to hear how you quantify uh
654s those like the Godzilla and the classic
656s brawl event as being like better for the
658s game like what are the metrics that you
659s look at oh for us it's it's like we
661s largely look at engagement metrics so
664s engagement metrics are you know how easy
667s is it for new players to find the game
669s because there's so much bus out there um
672s are old players coming back to the game
674s so re-engagement so super easy to
677s measure metrics for us and both of these
680s numbers then they automatically become
683s those two numbers and the retention of
684s existing players those that becomes our
688s daily active players our monthly active
689s players we actually have the graph here
692s um just a a note tip from ready I will
696s remove the numbers and don't question
698s about the numbers just because we don't
699s want to share with competitors but we
701s want to show the trends the trends are
703s real still uh here like uh December 22
706s is when we remove boxes and then here
708s we're actually we're in a good State
709s like the game was quite big uh for for
713s mobile games and like in the industry in
715s general uh but then you can see like
717s when you uh started doing like community
720s events and um like you can see that the
723s Baseline increases right it's not only
725s the peak but when the the event dies or
727s like the the novelty where wors off the
732s people stays in the game so like it's
734s really important to have like those big
736s news worthy thing that like it catches
739s the attention of someone who is not a
740s braw player or like someone who stops
743s playing braw for a while they see like
745s oh there's like johon Cena there what is
746s happening and then like they they go
748s they come back to the game and then they
750s stay so I think it's really important
752s like to bring more um to bring awareness
757s that this game exist and then is Big so
760s it's it's really important for us and
761s you can see uh again uh after we remove
765s boxes we added uh Mastery and we added
768s blink and our Trend was just going down
770s right even though those are like quality
772s of life improvements or like systems
774s that are better for every player in
776s general it doesn't bring as much novelty
779s or awareness as we would like to this is
782s one of the things I was thinking about
783s earlier uh because I see as well on
786s social media a lot of people complaining
787s about like no long-term like you know
790s content being added and it's a lot of
791s temporary stuff but then a lot of the
793s long-term content didn't do as well
796s before like you know many of those like
797s big changes to to Quality of Life uh and
800s even when I think about like game modes
802s that aren't tied to like an event very
804s often they they're doing fine for a few
806s days but then people kind of you know
808s payload volley bro like they don't
809s really stay popular for long uh whereas
812s for the game modes I feel like it's
814s worked much better for the events as
815s well and I feel like we really see the
816s results too yeah yeah I think people
819s like some something we also as as a team
822s feel pretty strongly about it's like
824s it's sometimes hard like people like
826s Adrian Dan and myself we are pretty
829s hardcore Gamers right we we like to
832s compete you know but
834s hardcore don't sell yourself short Denny
837s don't sell yourself short so so best
840s Piper like so so we really competitive
843s players we also play competitive games
845s outside of brawl right we're always
846s trying out the latest competitive games
848s we're always like we're into Esports so
851s but the the majority of our players are
853s not and that's just like something we
857s have to acknowledge and there's
858s sometimes this misconception that yeah
860s but these hardcore people they pay the
861s bills no yes of course they're important
864s players for us yes they're more likely
867s to be payers as well to keep us float
870s but the lion chair of everything comes
873s from this big group in the middle so so
876s if you cannot keep the Lion Share
877s entertain nothing else works here you
880s know we have to we have to reduce the
882s team size we're not getting the support
884s from the company we cannot invest as
886s much in marketing we cannot invest as
888s much into Esports so it's like a whole
890s like we need to make this the most
893s sustainable business ever and for that
895s to achieve we need to entertain the
897s masses right that everyone will tell you
899s the same you you need to reach a mass
902s audience and guess what what they like
906s chaos chaos is really
909s fun so so you know like when when we did
912s the Godzilla event the first time with
913s the mutations it was broken yeah I'm
916s going to say some of them went a bit
918s overboard but I think the fundamental
920s idea was still good yes yeah it was it
923s was like and I would actually argue now
925s SpongeBob is already a few steps ahead
927s of that from these learnings right
929s there's there's likely not going to be
931s one or two Brawlers right now in this
933s event that's just stick out in the game
934s modes the the the 3v3 V3 V3
940s Showdown Showdown you know you you you
943s will likely have a much more diverse
944s meta there what whatever the abilities
947s of the characters are whatever you know
949s and all the characters are now equally
951s involved and so on and so forth so it's
953s you know we're trying to learn and make
954s things better but yes chaos is really
956s fun also for us you know it's really fun
959s to Lo and and have a different
960s experience for change so we we don't
963s want this to go anywhere we at the same
965s time you know we want people to play
967s ranked or who don't want that chaos they
969s still have a way to play the game and
971s that's fine but but you know there
973s shouldn't be an expectation that we only
975s focus on this normal play experience but
977s as we already said we also we want to
980s make permanent improvements yeah and I
983s just want to touch really quick because
984s we we said chaos but you also mentioned
986s it I think it's not only about chaos
987s it's about actually feeling that the
989s game you're playing with the characters
991s that you love is different like they
993s behave a little bit differently but it's
994s still familiar I think that's a really
996s enticing kind of proposition for a lot
998s of players where oh okay I really love
1000s Edgar but now my Edgar is behaving a
1002s little bit in a cooler way or
1003s differently or I feel stronger like
1005s that's a cool moment even if only
1007s temporary so I think that's how what we
1009s have to keep in mind chaos is great but
1011s also familiarity is important in that
1013s chaos if that makes sense yeah I think
1015s those SpongeBob powerups have been a you
1018s know nice nonin way also um pretty
1021s rewarding considering that you don't
1022s have so many things to collect now with
1025s the Godzilla event there were so many
1026s different mutations and now you can get
1029s one ability and you can use it on
1031s multiple Brawlers and it's just kind of
1033s like a little bonus you know it doesn't
1035s really fundamentally change how they
1036s work you know remember Meg shooting out
1038s like a billion shots or or Colonel Ruffs
1042s with his shot bouncing everywhere I mean
1043s you're not even using him the same but
1045s now it's like more of an accent right
1048s helps the brawler do what they do better
1050s in not a fundamentally different way
1053s exactly yeah there's also a cool side
1055s effect because when we do events like
1057s that and we we try out new mechanics
1059s right sometimes they lead to permanent
1061s improvements like the the mech the mech
1064s example is like it started with the
1066s mutation but then we like hey it's
1069s actually really fun to play Mech like
1070s that way better like and and guess guess
1072s what so we introduced it to a main kit
1074s and we slightly changed the main kit
1076s because it's just more fun yeah and
1077s right now I think me is doing really
1079s well yeah like she's of course it's tied
1081s to the power level as well like yes
1082s she's stronger but it's also she feels
1085s more fun to play and therefore the
1087s popularity increases by a lot cuz she
1088s was one of our most unpopular Brawlers
1090s before the change and even before the
1093s previous change as well um but now she's
1095s actually more higher SL middle of the
1097s pack so just where we want her to be and
1100s yeah I mean Meg's a great example Rico
1102s um inspired the hyper charge of course
1104s um in a ton down version because we
1106s didn't want the cross map bounces
1108s killing everyone so yeah and then I
1111s guess answering also
1113s to R's question like how the the metrics
1117s or like what we look at to measure
1119s success like you can see like in April
1121s here like that was the the 100 star
1124s drops uh event and then you can see how
1127s much it increased the Baseline right but
1129s also like uh they like it create like a
1133s interesting phenomenon that we start
1135s bursting the bubble of the of brw Star
1138s right so like with a community event
1140s where like we didn't spend like a lot of
1142s marketing on this thing it was like done
1143s internally by this beautiful thing out
1145s here uh but but like um Brands like NBA
1151s or like Juventus like they would start
1152s talking about the event right so like
1154s they pick up things that are happening
1156s the pop culture and then we became pop
1158s culture because people are shouting
1160s about this so much that it becomes like
1162s a organic marketing uh and then there's
1164s a funny story here like one one parent
1167s of supercell they got a a call from
1170s school saying like no the kids are not
1173s paying attention to the class because
1174s they were all opening the start drops
1176s it's like you can see the effect of this
1178s one thing how much is spreading
1180s organically right so I think it's um the
1183s we do that because the results are
1185s amazing and it has been growing the game
1188s basically with that and then of course
1190s like underneath we will try now to add
1193s like those permanent features like the
1194s quality of life because then we we think
1196s it's important and they still help our
1198s metrics it's basically for the longevity
1200s right like it's the long longevity of
1202s the game like yes we could make in
1204s temporary things and yes we have these
1205s spikes but eventually like you know
1206s there is a burnout Factor there as well
1208s if the game fundamentally doesn't
1210s improve then that's not going to be
1212s exciting in the long run either so I
1214s think we yeah we have importance of both
1216s I want to say one more thing about like
1218s collaborations Etc as well as something
1220s more from the marketing and the business
1222s side when you when you're trying to find
1224s new players for a game where do you look
1227s you know like and and for us one one of
1231s the approaches on the marketing side is
1232s to find so what is our brand what how do
1236s how do people feel about our brand and
1239s what are other brands they like the type
1241s of people who enjoy brawl and then it's
1243s like oh SpongeBob they like SpongeBob
1246s and then SpongeBob has a different
1249s audience so they have millions and
1251s millions of
1252s players players Watchers viewers
1254s possible who possible players who never
1257s played brawl who don't even know about
1258s brawl but they know about SpongeBob you
1261s know that that gives us a a tool to
1264s reach people and audiences who never
1266s heard about braw in the past and you can
1268s actually see that with our brawl talk
1270s now or even the videos afterwards the
1272s brawl talk normally is trending and
1273s gaming around the world when you look at
1275s YouTube you know you see the trending
1278s positions but uh this time it trended in
1281s general so so we we hit like the top 10
1285s top 10 trending across the globe and and
1288s that is like so cool including like
1290s Japan where it's really really hard as a
1293s non Japanese video to hit into the top
1295s 10 so it's like these these brand
1298s collaborations just help us to reach
1300s more people just to create awareness
1302s about
1303s brawl like how is that process typically
1305s like is it like you guys reaching out to
1308s in this case like Nickelodeon or or
1310s Godzilla or is it like them reaching out
1312s like how does that work it can go both
1314s ways so we have some we have a business
1317s development team so that job is to find
1319s Partnerships for us and and sometimes
1322s these Partnerships are inbound so
1324s someone reaches out saying hey I'd
1325s really like to work with you guys and
1327s sometimes it's the other way around so
1329s it's like but for example now that we do
1333s this a bit more regularly we are looking
1335s already at 2025 because these
1337s collaborations are not fast most of them
1340s take a year plus to to come to life so
1344s it's it's not a hey we have an idea and
1346s next month we're going to work with
1347s these guys no it's it's really like a
1351s year it can be multiple years you know
1353s to to some other brands we're talking
1355s for for years and years and years
1357s already and nothing has materialized so
1360s it's uh yeah yeah and I think like also
1363s like we we put out a good event there
1365s for SpongeBob then the other brands will
1367s see and like I want to do the same with
1369s this brand right like that's why it's
1371s very important to make a big deal out of
1373s these things and I think it even
1375s happened like another brand that you're
1376s discussing I think they're more they can
1378s see what we can do right so that they're
1380s more open to new ideas and new events
1383s and everything so that was one question

1409s doing things like brow Sports now that
1411s the game is financially performing the
1413s best it ever has can we expect to see
1415s more budget rolling into brow Sports

1426s well there there's the the short answer

1435s the the worst timing ever it worked
1439s it's good for me and Teddy that means
1441s more work for
1442s us the the Longs is a bit more
1445s complicated it's um so so the way like
1450s the way budgeting works is not that
1453s Nimble
1454s so so when last year was was pretty much
1459s the worst year we ever had in Broar so
1462s financially speaking it was like our
1464s yeah our West
1466s year and so the fact that we had braw
1470s Esports this year even though it was
1474s maybe not as big as it was in the
1475s previous years is is I think a testament
1479s to our our ambition to keep Esports
1483s going even when we have a year that's
1484s not so great this year we have a pretty
1487s good
1488s year and that will show in one way or
1491s another next year and so next year will
1494s be better than this year without going
1497s too much into detail yeah so pretty much
1499s like
1500s we we plan one year ahead in so like
1504s it's it's we it's not that like the game
1506s is performing well and then like let's
1507s invest more money here for no reason
1509s like we have to think about how we going
1511s to apply this or like uh um how we are
1515s get taking the profit like how we
1516s calculate the budget like what we want
1518s to do as a whole and if it makes sense
1520s so like it takes time to actually apply
1523s the the uh the performance of the game
1526s into our marketing activities I think we
1528s will we're a bit faster to apply for the
1531s product for example we are doing more
1533s animations and then just because like
1535s hey we have this opportunity let's like
1537s uh take the momentum right that's the
1539s right time to like just go but Esports
1541s needs a bit more time to restructure and
1543s everything so that's why it doesn't uh
1546s appear
1547s immediately yeah different parts of our
1549s business have a different you know
1551s flexibility built in yeah when you think
1553s about like ads you know just going out
1556s there have more ads show more ads to
1558s people about process that's something
1560s done very easily because it's almost
1562s like a dial you dial up you spend more
1564s money you reach more people uh Esports
1567s is normally something that has been
1569s agreed on there has been a plan there's
1570s events planned there's a schedule
1573s there's a you know tons of structures in
1575s place which which is pretty much making
1577s it a fixed cost and something that's
1580s locked in for a year and yes you can do
1583s things on the side here and there to to
1585s make things better but at the end of the
1587s day it's pretty much locked in or the
1589s year before and and for example right
1591s now we're discussing and we we have a
1593s preliminary plan for next year and it's
1596s uh
1598s September feel like the contrast like
1601s for 2024 has been particularly extreme
1604s where like everything was decided in
1605s 2023 which was like the worst year for
1607s brawlstar and now it's the best year so
1609s it feels like particularly out of touch
1611s and I think that's also why a lot of
1612s people are like kind of upset about it
1615s including myself but we do also
1618s understand that like you know it's a
1620s year yearly planning so at some point
1623s especially like months into it uh
1625s actually nearing the end of the
1627s competitive year now like it's probably
1630s the moment where it's the most like yeah
1632s out of touch with with with the current
1634s state of the game yeah yeah that's we
1637s agree yeah super Fair yeah I think just
1638s by and large people lack that
1640s perspective that in business things take
1643s time because they don't have the
1644s exposure to that side of things I mean
1646s and you can know right unless someone
1647s tells you like we do now
1649s time to explain how would you know so
1652s that's that's the point of this yeah all
1655s right uh next question from Power couple
1657s gaming it's time to explain why it took
1659s so long to have an episode of time to
1661s explain why don't well we didn't have
1663s time to
1664s explain there was no time yeah I guess
1667s like uh we are producing a lot more and
1670s our team and our team is growing but
1673s doesn't grow as fast as it can right
1675s because hiring people takes time needs
1677s to be a right feet it need to be um like
1681s once the person actually joins you need
1682s to be on boarded to understand
1684s everything and then it I don't know like
1686s I would say even like six to nine months
1688s is when like the person actually becomes
1691s uh productive for us or something like
1693s that yeah but uh yeah we didn't have the
1695s time and then it was always in the back
1697s of my mind and then actually ready he
1699s said like hey I'm in Europe what about
1701s uh time to explain thanks ready and then
1703s I said pleasure is all mine ready how
1705s long can you stay in
1707s Europe oh that was that was an
1709s interesting one because initially we
1710s thought cuz I traveled here for lcq we
1712s thought oh well you know I'll just hit
1714s Helsinki right after lcq and then things
1716s had to be pushed back and so like okay
1718s ready can you find anything to do in
1720s Europe another week yeah yeah so so I
1723s just got to hang out with some of my
1725s coasters Teddy tagged along for some of
1726s it it's it's been a fun Journey no ready

1826s year of the game and even though

1839s think maybe the the issue is that maybe
1841s it's because how it's like divided
1843s across the events or maybe people are
1844s not seeing the value but it is bigger

1851s hearts I think that like it particularly
1854s feels a bit empty in Esports because
1856s like there's no third party event like
1858s much less they're they're kind of coming
1860s back so you know keep an eye out but it
1863s does feel a bit more empty than like
1865s previous years and I don't think there's
1867s necessarily like less BC it's just
1869s there's less Esports in general yeah

1874s this year to 2021 for example we used to
1877s have monthly finals on two separate
1878s weekends so half the month there was
1881s something going on over the weekend um
1884s we've also seen like the the mainland
1885s China region not be on like our main
1887s series of broadcasts anymore as that has
1889s kind of shifted to be its own thing and
1891s also the number of months has been
1893s truncated we're working with the F Monon
1895s season uh this year so it seems well I
1899s mean it's quite literally the fact that
1901s the actual competitive season has been
1904s shrinking yes we have an extra month for
1905s the bonus season for the September
1907s spectacular or however you pronounce it
1909s with the fives in the name but the
1912s actual competitive season has shrunk
1914s that is a fact yeah yeah absolutely I
1917s think we already talked about that to a
1919s degree yeah I think there's also one
1921s other element and that's something
1924s something not mentioned here but it's
1927s like often third party events are also
1931s the initiative by Third parties so so
1935s and if you know if third parties can
1937s just approach us and Pitch us something
1940s and more often than not we are
1941s supporting them so it's
1944s like yeah it's it's a mix it's I think
1947s some of the organizations and organizers
1950s which did events in previous years they
1952s opted not to do them this year um and
1956s that's that so we we we're inviting
1958s organizations and tournament organizers
1960s out there to do more and as Kim pointed
1963s out already like we have we have plans
1965s to be also more structured about
1966s supporting that in 2025 and Beyond

1995s and events that focus on unlocking time
1996s limit cosmetics and abilities which
1999s means that there's a lot of development

2002s temporary and not something that can be
2004s enjoy long term uh how confident is the
2007s team that the current cycle of content
2010s will continue receive a positive
2012s reception and the second part of the
2014s question is when the team finds a
2015s formula that work how do you continue to
2018s innovate so as so it doesn't
2020s stagnate yeah I think this is a good
2022s question I think we touched on this a
2024s little bit already um but I think the
2027s long story short there is yes we
2028s realized there is a disconnect between
2031s um how many temporary things we're doing
2032s versus Evergreen um but then also I
2034s think I want to talk a little bit more
2035s about the second part which is when a
2037s team a formula does work how do you
2039s continue to innovate as not to stagnate
2041s and I think this is the real interesting
2042s part because um it's very common I think
2046s in any creative field that when you find
2048s something that does work you kind of
2050s stick with it you don't want to rock the
2051s boat um but we look at it like that's
2054s actually the worst thing to do like we
2056s need to keep taking risks and we need to
2058s keep surprising players making them you
2060s know have fun with the game being
2062s surprised like in general because
2065s otherwise we're going to stagnate as
2066s well like this formula
2068s I I don't think we believe there is a
2070s winning formula per se it's just about
2072s innovating on what we already know what
2074s works and how is that even cooler if
2076s that makes sense yeah and I think like
2078s the concepts we get so for example 100
2080s start drops was probably the best
2081s community event we ever had why didn't
2083s we do the 200 star drops or like the 100
2086s 1001 star drops like the next one we did
2090s was the thumbs up for braw I think which
2091s was trying something new but still the
2093s same skeleton of the event right and
2096s that one didn't perform so well we
2097s believe it's because like either people
2099s don't want to be positive or like it's
2101s too much trouble to equip that and keep
2104s using the Ping or remembering you have
2106s to do that to participate where the
2108s others is just like either collect start
2110s drops or just take down Brawlers like we
2112s always try to innovate a bit so it feels
2115s fresher even though like maybe the
2116s concept or the core is the same yeah I
2119s think also with the temp like I guess a
2122s part of this question is also temporary
2123s events right so it's like that we
2126s already answered but even with the
2128s temporary events like we're trying to
2130s learn from every single event you know
2132s Godzilla was the first time we did this
2134s major major thing and and when it comes
2137s to actually the the workload that takes
2140s in the team is something we discussed
2141s for a long time it's like should we
2143s really make such a heavy
2145s investment uh of people into something
2148s that goes away
2149s forever and and so we we we contemplated
2153s a lot but then the the positive impact
2156s it had was undeniable and quickly Chang
2158s changed our mind that hey it's you it's
2161s it's totally worth it yeah um and today
2165s the the team is staffed up we have we
2167s are more people than ever so we now have
2170s actually the the team that can work on
2173s temporary events and make permanent
2175s improvements to the game so it's not a
2178s this or that anymore it's we we're in a
2180s place now where we where we get to a
2182s place where we can do both so and then
2185s the rest is about yeah iteration
2187s iteration iteration make things better
2189s like when we released Godzilla and on
2191s day one for most people there was
2194s nothing like you didn't get a free
2196s mutation or anything so it was like damn
2200s now we we should have thought about this
2202s wouldn't it be cooler to come into the

2233s been a forgettable one for audience due

2243s issues would be the exception and not

2251s talked to King about this question and
2253s he said like he's like painfully aware
2256s of the problems like when something like
2258s that happens like no sound in the lcq
2260s like it's not like we're like ah we
2262s don't care let's keep going like we feel
2265s the pain and then we get like anxious
2267s like we need to solve that we know that
2269s there is a time pressure to do that but
2272s um uh I think like those things happen
2276s but like we know they shouldn't be the
2278s norm like they it shouldn't be like the
2281s the expectation and actually not
2283s specifically to eorts but like to
2285s SpongeBob we were already like a bit
2287s scared like there are so many new things
2289s happening here and we have been like in
2291s the maybe three past months uh having
2295s releasing something bronen on release
2297s right so we were like is is it going to
2299s be another one of those days but that
2301s only we only have like 10 or 20 minutes
2303s of server overload and then the event
2306s went smooth like we we hope we can also
2309s do the same with sports like next year
2311s or hopefully already the finals will be

2325s think the the painful part with Esports
2327s is that the issues that we've seen you
2330s know the end of the year wasn't like a
2332s necessarily like a culmination it was
2334s pretty much the same because we've had
2336s kind of issues
2342s one of those of know if we look at how
2346s the game approaches this we see like
2348s consistent improvements but for some
2349s certain things in Esports um we see
2352s those issues pop up again and again and
2354s again and I think really the answer that
2357s people want to hear is that hey you know
2360s going forward we will win in the
2362s preparation yeah I think some of the
2365s issues are also like due to Esports in
2367s general rolled the last few years uh I
2369s mean just like brawl star is a bit of a
2371s recession in gaming and Esports uh which
2373s means there's been a lot of like
2375s acquiring other companies and I feel
2377s like the the brw Esports project has
2379s kind of like switched hands a lot which
2381s means new people that haven't
2383s experienced some of the issues that you
2384s know the previous team experienced so
2386s you make the same mistakes and you learn
2388s from them but I think that process has
2390s been very rocking it's like kind of
2392s nobody's fault because it's just a very
2394s very general thing where it's been very
2396s volatile like the amount of of new
2398s people getting involved in in projects
2400s in the last few years that's a good
2402s point I think you you've like going
2404s Beyond bra rate the industry has been a
2406s pretty turbulent place at large um a lot
2410s of companies actually stopped the
2412s Esports program completely revamp the
2414s Esports programs and um yeah as you said
2418s there were tons of Acquisitions and
2419s changes and all kind of stuff happening
2422s in the industry so it's it's it's
2424s difficult to have a consistent approach
2426s and then combine that with like hey we
2429s try to keep
2431s Esports um on on a float in
2435s Brawl while at the same time we have way
2437s less budget to work with mhm so it's a
2440s like there's tons of circumstances it's
2442s not it's not an excuse I I don't think
2445s anyone is more you know seeing Kim's
2447s face when when there was no no sound and
2451s that was a hardware issue for the record
2453s there was a hardware part that's never
2456s breaking normally broke and you couldn't
2459s just switch it so it's like stuff like
2463s that unfortunately happens it's it's not
2465s great but for what it's worth I think
2467s day two was much much much much much
2469s better at the lcq so and a lot of of the
2473s issues on day one were gone on day two
2475s of course there was also the whole B
2477s stream and and you know like it's it's
2480s like it's it's easier when you just have
2482s one one stream going on but it was also
2484s worth pointing out for example for the
2486s for the monthly finals
2488s um the the only solution for us
2491s to um have best of
2494s five was to have a b stream so it's like
2498s like sometimes you know you have a
2499s limited budget you need to compromise
2501s you have limited time at your hands so
2504s where are you compromising if you would
2505s have choosen best of three would have
2508s you know the competitive Community would
2509s they have been happier than being on B
2511s stream I don't know maybe but that's a
2514s judgment call we always have to make in
2516s these situations so it's not it's not
2518s like we're happy with that but but you
2520s you don't always get what you want even
2522s even us yeah so it's like I guess at the
2525s end of the day becomes like a compromise
2527s like and we try to always prioritize
2529s essentially the players and the fans
2530s right we want what is the best
2532s experience and how can we make that
2534s happen with the resources that we have
2535s what kind of shortcuts we have to draw
2538s or stuff like that to make that happen
2540s because if we don't want to do anything
2542s half you know asked basically like we
2545s either want to do it properly or not at
2547s all that's kind of how we look at
2550s it next question uh for Frank because
2554s you know this number oh as a percentage
2556s of the current active player base how
2558s many people started playing brawl star
2560s in the last one
2562s year yeah it's a it's a number above 50%
2565s right now 50% of the players are new 50%
2569s of players right now who are playing
2570s today on you okay but but I also want to
2574s put that in relative because that
2575s doesn't you know our our user number
2577s numbers in general are higher today than
2579s they were like the last years so we are
2582s also seeing unprecedented amounts of
2584s people coming back to the game so it's
2586s not like oh all the people are new and
2588s the old school people are gone no we we
2591s have the lowest amount of people of old
2593s school people leaving the game ever
2594s essentially we have the highest amount
2596s of people coming back to the game and we
2599s see a huge influx of new users so it's
2602s really like and for us that that's that
2604s speaks to the overall healthiness of the
2606s game even though you you know not
2607s everything is perfect but overall the
2610s game is healthy because else one of
2612s these three would not be true and which
2615s country has the most players for brawl
2618s Stars let's be a little bit vague about
2620s this there there's a there's a bunch of
2622s countries which have have a big audience
2625s I think one one of the biggest markets
2627s right now is turkey M uh in in Europe of
2630s course like Germany's the biggest um but
2634s the US has been growing like crazy we
2637s more than doubled our daily active
2638s players in the US this year or North
2640s America in general Mexico has been
2642s growing like crazy uh Japan has been
2645s growing like crazy we also more than
2646s doubled our player base in Japan so so
2649s Korea is still a big number of course
2652s Brazil is a big number so it's it's like
2655s what you would expect in a way so Brazil
2658s is Big North America is Big Europe
2660s generally still is the biggest place for
2662s brawl but also Japan and Korea have been
2665s big contributors for us yep

2715s think something um that kind of plagues
2718s brawl events right now is the struggle
2722s of going to those events and being there
2723s in person not having the resources not
2726s having the assets to actually make it
2727s there to begin with um I mean let's not
2730s kid ourselves about the uh audience that
2732s this game attracts right the age range
2735s and also like of brw e Sports I mean you
2739s you may think to yourself okay what what
2741s is the age range that um we're achieving
2743s here a lot of like teenagers people who
2745s can't really travel long distances on
2747s their own particularly in North America
2749s where I did some events in North America
2753s and there were very few people in the
2754s audience and that could be chocked up to
2756s many things but I think Logistics is a
2758s huge issue that said I would love to see
2760s the current audience stay with the game
2763s um I would also like to see as Broly
2765s Sports matures that maybe the the tone
2769s shifts to be a little more not like
2771s grownup but for a um more I don't know
2777s knowledgeable uh Analytical in the know
2781s sort of audience at the moment the shows
2783s are very lean they're very fast-paced
2785s it's just like this there's no downtime
2788s there's there are no moments to really
2791s break down any analysis it's just once
2794s we finish up one game they're getting
2796s right back into the next set for the
2798s next draft and we don't really have any
2801s like visuals to um go back like there's
2803s no telestrator for instance that's
2805s something I'd really love to see like be
2806s able to Circle things like he went on a
2808s professional sports cast mhm yeah th
2811s those are those are couple things that I
2813s would like to see I think another one is
2815s if we could somehow achieve more Mass
2818s Appeal like from a casual audience in
2820s Source brly sports fans from there
2822s because as it stands a lot of most of
2825s the braw orts fans are the most
2827s dedicated in engaged players and I think
2831s that there is absolutely Mass Appeal for
2835s brawl Esports I think the problem and
2839s the challenge is just involving those
2841s more casual players in the audience I'll
2844s uh I mean honestly this was like pretty
2847s much what I had in mind as well uh so
2849s it's going to be hard to like add up to
2851s that but uh I think that we already kind
2853s of established that like the budget and
2855s stuff gets decided like according to you
2859s know how much money the game is making
2861s and how healthy the game is and that's
2863s incredibly hard to predict in the future
2864s like especially in like five years uh
2866s the game is going to have downs and UPS
2869s like you know year year after year so
2871s it's very hard to like kind of see what
2873s the scene will look like cuz it depends
2874s on so many different factors but I I
2877s complet completely agree that like
2878s seeing the audience evolve and and like
2881s just like grow up with the game uh I I
2884s think that's what kind of makes the
2885s difference between uh bro star land and
2888s like another like mainstream Esports uh
2891s title land can I mention names Carter
2893s strike that was the one that I had in
2895s mind too I I live in Dallas I went to
2898s Dallas the audiences are just remarkable
2901s mhm it's it's completely different like
2904s you actually have like chance you know
2906s yeah you have groups of friends they
2907s will travel to the event like groups of
2910s like 5 10 20 people and they'll be there
2912s like all wearing jerseys all singing for
2914s the teams all shouting like it's
2917s actually a completely different energy
2919s and we have little glimpses of that at
2921s times um but the only way to do this is
2924s to have like yeah a bit more of a mature
2925s audience and also have those like
2927s hardcore fans that only really come
2930s after time right right now like people
2931s that are heavy Esports fans they're like
2935s uh early birds you know they're people
2937s that are kind of like early um I think
2939s that in 5 10 years there's going to be a
2942s lot of people that grew up watching braw
2944s that grew up with their their family
2946s playing playing braw um so I think
2948s that's going to be like very exciting to
2949s actually watch in orts yep actually the
2951s brawl audience is getting older mhm so
2954s it's you know moving averages is
2956s difficult especially if You' have tens
2958s of millions of people playing the game
2960s but we're slowly creeping up uh which is
2963s interesting it's uh yeah like I I think
2967s I tweeted about that or posted on
2969s LinkedIn or something about this but as
2972s there's there's as a developer right
2973s there's very little that's more
2975s energetic than going to an Esports event
2977s and having hundreds if not thousands of
2979s people in the crowd being totally crazy
2983s about the game that's being played um I
2986s I mean like I really really loved WIS
2989s last year you know it was it's most not
2991s a ginormous audience also was around
2994s thousand people but but you know that we
2997s went to PC gaming event dream hack and
3000s there was a Counter-Strike tournament
3001s there there was way smaller and way less
3003s energetic that braw by the way um it's
3007s it's just super cool to see and like
3009s something and then Gamescom you know
3012s like two and half thousand seats all
3014s filled people standing people sitting on
3016s the ground people going bananas Whenever
3018s there was a cool play I think it's so
3021s cool to see and yes it's a very mixed
3023s audience but what what for us what's
3026s really really cool and you know are
3029s these wholesome moments where we see a
3031s dad or a mom with her kids watching this
3033s and in the beginning you see the parents
3035s like looking at their phone maybe you
3037s know not super engaged with the whole
3038s thing going on but eventually they look
3040s at the screens and they're staying there
3042s actually you know they're getting
3043s entertained and they see there something
3046s so it's like of Kim's dream as well
3049s think 10,000 seats and I like can we get
3052s a big Guardians I fully agree with the
3055s you need to be where where the player
3057s what the events are so it's of course
3060s like hard when there's few in-person
3063s events and it's something we would also
3065s like to change for All Star World

3073s in streaks for win for win more easier
3077s trophies but have you thinking have you
3079s have you thought about come back to Old
3081s season reset maybe there's a lot of
3084s questions so maybe we can break down uh
3086s sure maybe I can take first part um he
3089s said that we added win streaks for
3090s easier trophies um I think just to make
3093s clear it's not easier to get high
3095s trophies you get to where you need to be
3097s quicker that's essentially what it does
3099s it doesn't inflate the top end it just
3102s makes you get there faster which I think
3103s is a good experience both for the win
3106s Streaker but also for the players you're
3108s playing against because it means like if
3110s you are not supposed to be let's say low
3113s trophies then you won't be there for
3114s long so you're not ruining games in that
3116s sense for as long um and when we talk
3120s about old season reset we're not going
3122s to do it in that way um we're never
3123s going to go back to that system I never
3125s say never but most likely not going back
3127s to that system but as Frank touched on
3129s before we do have significant plans for
3131s trophies in the future yeah uh ER
3134s thinking about let the player choose the
3136s servers they want and then he mention
3138s the the whole second question is very
3140s much about as well as about the trophy
3142s system actually yeah um no we are not
3145s planning to give people the option which
3147s servers to play on it just doesn't
3150s doesn't make sense for brawl really it
3152s would just make matchmaking way worse uh
3155s and even slower um but but again we
3158s we're working on something for the
3159s trophy system we understand that there
3161s is a problem there especially for
3162s highend players like eak it's it's like
3166s it's just not a great experience so we
3168s want to work work on that when you say
3171s it doesn't make sense for brawl you mean
3172s like as the identity of the game and
3174s perhaps for you know the greater
3176s audience not that um it would like not
3179s be a beneficial feature for some yes
3182s it's like exactly exactly it's it's more
3184s for for the larger larger audience it it
3186s really doesn't make sense eag is
3188s probably in the
3190s 0.001 000000 1% of our audience like
3194s it's like we we understand that there's
3197s just it feels almost like a different
3198s game at that point yeah but more often
3201s than not you know allowing people to you
3203s cannot just allow certain players to
3205s choose their servers
3207s um because the moment it becomes a
3209s feature people are using it and and out
3212s of our we we have quite a bit of
3213s experience with adding new server
3215s locations and and seeing the impact of
3217s latency the impact of matchmaking time
3219s on players behaviors and we know matter
3222s of fact that it's always a negative uh
3225s when when you when you make the
3227s matchmaking pool smaller mhm so so it's
3230s more like
3232s a protection mechanism for us you know
3235s we we don't think it's a good idea yeah
3237s yeah I think if if you were to ask these
3239s you know the
3241s 0.001% I think many of them would choose
3244s longer matchmaking over you know playing
3246s an EU against an A or vice versa
3249s absolutely yeah me know and we we're
3251s trying to we're have some ideas we have
3254s and and so so we'll see how that all
3256s works out but um but we'd like to find a
3259s good midle ground yep and how happy are
3263s you with the changes team power League
3264s we kind of touch on that and are you
3266s going to make people demote
3268s again H I think it's because we there is
3270s the the floors yeah the ranked floors
3273s and I feel like you try uh you you like
3276s you work you make the game for the
3277s casuals all the time so that's his
3280s concern I think that's a fair concern
3282s but I think we can go back to what Frank
3284s touched on that it's not necessarily the
3285s casuals it's the masses yeah and if you
3288s don't have the masses then there is no
3290s real competition because no one is
3291s playing that mode um but at the same
3294s time we want to make sure that the mode
3296s feels comp itive on the top end as well
3298s and I think that's where it's currently
3300s falling aad short and that's something
3301s we're looking to address yeah I think
3304s that in general like um I I was thinking
3307s of this like I think it was the first
3309s question about ranked as well where I
3310s feel like the way ranked is right now I
3312s would say the the the casuals or the
3314s masses are pretty happy for the most
3316s part I mean the metrics show that too
3318s right so many more people playing um so
3320s I think that a lot of the changes that
3322s could come and that you guys should be
3324s implemented is like are hopefully going
3326s to be focused on like that particular um
3329s you know category of people yeah
3331s absolutely yeah I think you know we see
3333s it as a win as well like the engagement
3334s rates in ranked are obviously higher so
3337s that's a that's a win but then the top
3338s end I think we don't consider a win
3340s currently because of how it functions
3342s and last question for H yeah I think
3345s there's like one element as well like we
3348s don't see this group on top as a athetic
3351s amount of people right you have a bunch
3354s of people in the middle of the game who
3356s are maybe not not as hardcore yet but
3359s but everyone starts as a
3361s noob everyone starts as a noob some
3363s people stick around long enough so that
3365s they become a regular player and that
3367s they're just like still playing for fun
3369s maybe and a portion of those people
3372s becomes the the core of our community
3375s and a part of that group will then
3378s promote to become hardcore and being in
3381s that top 1% so so what can we do from a
3385s systems perspective from from systems
3387s like ranked to help people climb that
3391s ladder like we want to have as many
3393s people as possible being as competitive
3395s as possible but it doesn't just work
3399s because we want it so we need to have
3401s systems in place that support this and
3404s again if you lose the the the masses
3406s already in in low illo place then well
3410s you know they won't pre promote higher
3413s and you won't have that competition so
3414s we this this whole funnel needs to work

3551s or some kind of cosmetic that you can

3559s on your profile like that that stuff is
3560s cool I think players when they ask for
3563s this sort of um some kind of badge to
3566s show um maybe some people have the
3569s impression that it like is going to
3570s create new content but this is something
3572s that they were already going to do

3576s just Out Of Reach of what is already
3578s possible or perhaps even further
3580s creating new achievements um is is what
3584s would really satisfy the top players but
3587s even then it's only possible to reach
3590s for the very top players that said you
3593s could zoom out and look at it as a
3594s bigger picture and that well you know it
3596s doesn't get restricted to just them
3598s someone who creates content you know
3600s then that actually creates something
3602s larger than just the individual
3604s player well I think that especially when
3606s it comes to like kind of having those
3607s achievement to show on your profile and
3608s maybe some of them in game two you know
3610s on like where your Master's badge or
3611s whatever rank you are being able to see
3613s like the top how many you were last
3615s season uh something like that I think
3617s could be very uh nice and have that like
3620s Flex effect um but I think that like it
3624s is Niche but at the same time if you
3626s have like a system to kind of add value
3629s to pushing specific Brawlers total
3632s trophies ranked you know if if you get
3635s like an achievement for being top 10,000
3637s and it just shows you know uh which
3639s number you you were in in the
3641s leaderboards well that's already 10,000
3643s people in like 82 categories for the
3646s Brawlers plus ranked plus latter so it's
3649s not that small of a a group anymore so I
3652s feel like that could be something really
3654s nice to to yeah have that little Flex
3657s effect in your
3658s matches cool next question from flying
3661s line uh ever since Club Quest and Club
3663s League got replaced with MEAP clubs felt
3665s kind of dead because there's nothing to
3668s do for 90% of the month are there any
3670s plans to add more activities for
3673s clubs yes yes no but we do agree as well
3677s that that like Club League was not it
3680s yeah um mega pig is a decent middle
3683s ground but then again a lot of the time
3685s there's nothing to do um but we also
3687s have to realize that there are people
3689s who just like to play by themselves so
3691s we can't frontload like a lot of the
3693s stuff into the club without then hurting
3695s those players as well so there has to be
3697s a balance um currently the balance is
3699s not correct by the way um but we're
3701s working towards getting to a better and
3703s and also the solution wouldn't be just
3704s more MEAP pigs every weekend because
3706s then it will burn out exactly because
3708s that's kind of what happened with club
3709s right like it was exciting for a month
3711s two depending on who you are and then
3712s it's like oh here's the chore again that
3714s I need to do for all my rewards
3717s I think also what really drives at home
3719s is that Mega pig is accounted for in
3721s balancing the game economy so now it's
3723s really mandatory that you do it if you
3725s want to progress your account it is
3727s actually like you know look looking back
3729s from the transition we made from the old
3731s world to the new world the the mega pick
3735s is a piece of that and of course the the
3739s changes we did in braas are a piece of
3741s that so when when we int and we will
3744s introduce more things for clubs to do

3750s to be huge things could be just you know
3752s another activity like the mega pick just
3754s different it could be temporary events
3756s for clubs like SpongeBob now things like
3759s that should just happen regularly and
3761s there should be fresh stuff going on for

3765s really make sure that yeah once a month
3767s is just not good enough for us yeah and
3769s of course it doesn't help than than that
3771s we have a buck and then that we cannot
3773s run the MEAP pic for two month uh like
3776s like and it's happening in summer where

3781s and we cannot just fix it it's super
3784s frustrating for us um so we we want more
3787s for clubs to do um but we need to be
3790s sensitive in how we're doing this as
3791s well because like everything we do there

3799s goals of like Mega Pig was like we want
3802s more people to be in clubs and we want
3804s the people to be in clubs to play the

3815s but then it creates a different problem

3819s that the reward doesn't feel uh enough

4085s the day um and actually they stay so
4089s they were playing Edgar and they were
4090s excited about it so the results were
4092s amazing and they're still playing Edgar
4094s they are still playing Edgar never reced
4096s only Edgar but then in Spain for four
4100s years when we did grief it didn't have
4103s any meaningful results right so like it
4105s the delivery of the content also affects
4108s the performance of the game uh and then
4110s we try differently so maybe challenge is
4112s like it's too Niche let's try Quest and
4115s then we did gray uh during the Christmas
4117s time um and then also didn't bring a lot
4120s of results and people some people are
4122s even unaware you could actually unlock
4124s the brawler for fre through Quest
4127s so for challenge probably not because it
4131s doesn't bring anything back to us it's
4133s just we're giving like a free stuffff
4134s and then like when when we do something
4136s for free we want at least like players

4149s it costs some money because you are

4186s way for two weeks so a new brawler comes
4187s out for someone that isn't really one

4194s true so so I have no perspective on
4198s this but but you know new brawler comes
4201s out it's supposed to be very exciting
4203s but if you're not willing to make the
4206s inapp purchase then you don't get to
4208s engage with that release yeah um this
4212s this has been kind of one of my
4213s complaints about like monetization I I
4216s guess uh is I'm really not a fan of the
4218s value pack uh I I feel I get the point
4221s of it like I'll start with the positives
4223s uh because I'm aware of the fact that
4225s you know stops the servers from dying
4228s and everyone playing the same brawler
4229s and matchmaking is terrible so I I I do
4232s see the benefits there but personally
4235s like I don't buy them and then I kind of
4237s lose the hype for the new brawler by the
4239s time I unlock it so like I mean I
4241s unlocked Mo and I played like three
4242s games with it so far because I wasn't as
4245s excited and I used to remember like
4246s years ago when everyone would kind of be
4248s able to get the Brawl on the same day it
4250s would be super hype it would be like oh
4252s raise to rank 35 and seeing like uh how
4255s how strong it is and it felt kind of
4257s like being a part of an event in a way
4259s um which is a feeling that I completely
4261s lost now and I don't know I think it's
4264s kind of sad that I'm not like as excited
4266s anymore about new
4267s Brawlers we we cannot really see that in
4270s the numbers um I like I I can totally
4274s see that as an individual that it might
4275s feel like that but from from just
4278s looking at you know engagement numbers
4280s looking on the player who come in on
4282s that day
4283s Etc um it it doesn't look like like
4286s that's largely the sentiment at least
4288s for us like was a gentle way of
4290s introducing more monetization make
4292s things more sustainable without adding
4294s more power or without adding power 12 or
4297s something like this it's like just just
4299s trying to become creative with what we
4301s have already giving a small benefit for
4303s payers which is that weak Early Access
4306s um without you know changing something
4310s permanently about the power in the game
4313s um yeah I think that's it it's not going
4316s to go anywhere it's it's just it's it's
4319s working really well for what it is I'm
4321s afraid and I think that's fair but I
4323s also want to give another perspective I
4325s think from uh balancing side for example
4327s because you know there's always the meme
4328s that oh no new roller it's op so forth
4331s but the Early Access for example period
4333s is is a really good way for us to also
4336s see is that statement true or not
4339s because like if we release it to
4340s everyone at the same time like you know
4342s if everyone get the brawler day one then
4344s let's say it waks Havoc or it's let's
4345s say it's worse like it scratches the
4347s game we've seen that with Gene for
4349s example then that's a much larger impact
4352s for the player base right and then we
4354s don't have the same amount of time to
4356s rectify that before everyone gets their
4358s hands on it so there is other positives
4360s than maybe just looking at the monetary
4362s aspect as well yeah and I think like uh
4364s it's a balance like I'm I'm not happy
4367s that you are sad with the new format
4369s right need for the record but like it's
4372s the sacrifice we have to make because
4374s like how sad are you are like are you
4377s really yeah are you like overall
4381s yeah because if it's like you can wait a
4384s week right we we think it's a fair
4385s exchange that a player can wait a week
4387s to have the brw for free and we also
4389s released that before the season so every
4391s credit that he has it turns uh it gets
4394s into the new brawler if that that's the
4396s only brawler that they have left so we
4398s feel like yeah there is a a balance we
4400s can do maybe like if you would like to
4402s make this lighter would be like maybe
4403s the amount of days would be like like
4405s four days that is in the value pack or
4408s something like that but then like it's
4410s also hard to communicate like one week
4412s is really clear right one week sounds
4414s like clean but I I think that for me
4416s like the only issue I have with it cuz I
4418s love the idea of the value right of
4420s having like this is a great deal to buy
4423s and you get tons of like progression and
4424s and I think there's a skin as well yeah

4429s progression I love that you should try
4432s it you can use your own code I love that
4435s my own issue is just like the week which
4437s feels like long and I also feel like I
4439s build up a negative bond with that
4442s brawler because usually they're pretty
4445s strong and I also get why they have to
4446s be strong especially if the only way to
4449s get them is like you know credit card um
4452s but then I feel like I kind of hate that
4455s brother because for a week every time I
4456s face it like I don't it's not an
4458s enjoyable time you know so I I feel like
4461s once it's released yes part of me is
4463s excited to try it and like inflict the
4465s pain that I've been that I've been
4467s receiving but part of me is also like
4470s yeah just has that negative association
4472s to a brawler which I feel like wouldn't
4473s be as strong if I was able to also play
4476s it when other people are if that makes
4479s any sense and just I want to I want to
4481s touch on that really quick the op part
4484s or whatever
4486s because I want to say it very clearly we
4488s don't make op Brawlers on purpose I've
4490s said this many times but if if we don't
4494s make them strong enough
4496s then people forget them basically by
4497s default and they can never recover so I
4499s I made this example a few times but if
4500s you look at Doug if you look at let's
4502s say Willow they still haven't recovered
4504s we've buffed them lots of times and
4506s they're still not super strong don't get
4508s me wrong but Willow for example she's in
4509s a really good spot win ratewise but
4512s she's not popular because she never
4514s recovered after the weak kind of launch
4516s that she had um so we don't want to
4518s repeat that mistake because there is no
4520s worst feeling like you're really looking
4521s forward to a brawler everything looks
4523s cool you play a brawler and it's super
4525s weak and you're
4527s like that's not cool you know that's the
4529s worst I completely agree with that by
4531s way like I think new BR should be strong
4533s no you know I think the the strongest
4534s depends on on who's playing them as well
4537s get very like snowb at times but I
4540s completely agree with that like and when
4542s we change this format a bit like
4544s actually ready I don't know if you've
4545s been also in play test but like we've
4546s been testing uh with creators before it
4549s goes live uh and then like if many I
4552s think all the times we actually nerve or

4556s the brawler because we get his feedbacks

4560s Lori effect ever again and even like
4563s other Brawlers that have been released

4629s Early Access offer runs out we make the

4633s available to everyone they can switch
4635s their credits to it and as a consequence
4637s today we see people in general unlock
4640s Brawlers faster than ever before and
4643s also on that day one more people get
4646s access to the new brawler more than
4648s before even free to playay players so so

4653s this the the the main decision free
4655s to-play players have to make is you know
4658s which brawler do I want to unlock but
4661s then if you really want Kenji you know
4663s you just can save your credits and and

4668s like yeah and that's a behavior we see

4676s and more people unlock more Brawlers in
4677s general than before which is really

5002s player loses their account to actually
5005s turn that back to their hands recovery

5011s right so if someone log into your
5013s account then you get a notification that
5015s this is happening so you're working on
5016s lot a lot of tools to like help the
5018s player to help themselves yeah uh I
5022s remember what I was going to say and I

5026s getting screwed once right like once you
5029s get that and then you are able to
5031s recover you will never do this mistake
5032s again but our current process it is that

5254s Esports like let's let's start with the
5257s obious Esports today in bro doesn't make

5270s got and there are more efficient ways of
5272s losing money yeah
5275s invest in
5277s no it's um it's it's one of these things
5280s where I think a lot of companies try to
5283s make Esports profitable like r games uh
5288s Activision Blizzard you know when with a
5290s OverWatch League I I think they're
5292s really big plans but but none of that
5295s really worked so so as far as we know
5299s you know none of the big players has a
5301s profitable Esports business so so for
5305s companies like Riot games it's a
5307s marketing tool and that's pretty much
5308s all the marketing they do there's very
5310s little other marketing they do and and
5312s for them it's just that was their way of
5314s reaching more people and and that's cool
5317s that works when you have a very hardcore
5319s game when when you have a midcore game
5321s like brawl stars that that is not
5324s necessarily how it works however that
5326s doesn't mean we don't have the ambition
5328s to make brawl Esports at least you know
5331s pay for itself that would be great and I
5335s think like this year for example our
5336s collaboration with the SPs was a step in
5339s that direction actually so even though
5341s you know we had less money to work with
5343s can can we find ways to to have
5346s something that is somewhat more
5349s reasonable when it comes to
5351s cost
5353s um so now that doesn't necessarily
5355s answer your question of why we're doing
5356s it we we do believe that there's a a
5359s group of our audience really likes to
5363s watch competitive Brad
5365s Esports and or competitive brawl play in
5367s general not even Esports for them it's
5369s really interesting because they they
5371s look at that and they learn something
5372s they get better as players they they get
5375s more engaged with a game so it's a it's
5377s like targeting a very specific segment
5380s of our players in the hope that you know
5383s they will learn something they will
5384s enjoy it they will become more sticky
5386s and stick around with the game for
5388s longer um we don't have any hopes to get
5393s new users which never played brawl into
5395s braw Esports even though that would be
5397s nice if we could achieve that but of
5400s course
5401s like at the end of the day it is a
5404s marketing tool it is a marketing tool
5406s for us to engage our very engaged
5409s players out there and and that that has
5413s value but in a perfect world we we would
5416s be able to do more with this we would be
5418s you know like of course profitability
5420s would be great then we could do even
5422s more brw e Sports and we will probably
5425s experiment in the future with other
5426s formats you know other you know should
5428s we have sponsors in the game should we
5430s should we you know in real life events
5433s we've been very cautious with selling
5435s anything at events but should we you
5438s know do have merch when whenever you go
5441s to an in-person event people are like
5442s hey can I buy some brawl merch you know
5446s so I guess we're looking into ways of
5448s making that happen everyone in the team
5450s believes in Esports we really like
5452s watching competitive play but that's of
5454s course not good enough of a business
5455s rational to do it we we do believe that
5458s there's an angle of that this is helping
5460s us with our strategy for
5462s retaining hardcore players in the game
5466s um was a future hardcore players and
5468s then it might also be part of our
5470s regional strategies sometimes you know
5472s for example in Japan one of the angles
5476s for broads is Competitive Gaming much
5478s more than in any other region by the way
5480s that's why we also see some of the most
5482s competitive teams in the world being
5484s Japan teams in the US competitive play
5487s matters more than in
5489s Europe so so it might be part of our
5491s Market strategy when we say hey we want
5493s to win a certain Market is Esports a
5497s part of that play can it help us make
5500s the game feel big and interesting and
5503s eventful also a little bit kind of going
5507s deeper into that I think it's also
5508s really cool for some players that are
5510s not yet you know really good at the game
5511s or stuff they're really interested and
5513s they see esport
5514s and they see the way or the path to orts
5517s because I think that's something unique
5518s in braw as well it's pretty linear like
5520s you have the in-game event for example
5522s and I think that's a really cool way
5523s like I could be there like that feeling
5525s is really powerful right like if I'm
5527s good enough I can be there and and
5529s that's a big thing for for a significant
5531s amount of players I think as
5533s well are you happy with that I'm I'm
5536s very satisfied well because previously I
5538s wasn't really sure what role Broly
5540s Sports filled and everything given that
5543s it appeals to very specific genre of
5547s players and we often hear the rationale
5549s of well you know this wouldn't make
5551s sense for us to dedicate um our
5553s resources to because it is so Niche
5557s MH to kind of like touch up on the
5560s Esports conversation especially since
5562s Frank you already mentioned Kim so like
5564s Mr brw Esports uh one of his main goals
5567s or dreams is getting like 10,000 people
5569s in the audience uh do you guys have like
5572s personal like a personal wish list or
5574s any you know items in there that you
5576s would like to to see happening to orts
5580s yeah I think uh for me like I would like
5582s to see BR Esports as part of like a
5586s broader uh BR event CU now it's very
5589s Niche like when there's a brow event is
5591s the sports related I would really love

5596s then there is a event there is a part of

5601s like it as um as a great marketing tool

6135s of failed on the first step already so
6137s it's not really viable for us in that
6139s way I think like some of the the message
6142s of you know our goal is to make a good
6145s game first and foremost um gets lost
6149s when you are like only seeing things
6152s from the outside in and and you don't
6154s have that transparency of you know

6157s inner mechan of um the mindset of

6163s it is a necessity that you know this can

6389s there's many steps to this so I want to
6391s start with we have of course a quality
6392s assurance team in house so we have um a
6395s team that sits with us that takes care
6396s of the manual testing part but something
6399s they also do is they coordinate a lot of
6401s external partners that we have that help
6403s us test um that's how we get like the
6405s qualitative data when it comes to actual
6408s performance for example like how does
6409s braw play on this device we of course
6411s have a lot of devices ourselves but then
6413s we Al also have data like that we
6415s collect that tells us okay what is the
6417s average for example FPS on this device
6419s our mission overall with the quality of
6422s the game is it needs to be as playable
6423s as possible on as many devices as
6425s possible also because we mentioned the
6427s age profile usually of our players they
6430s might not have the best devices so if
6432s brawl runs perfectly on let's say the
6434s newest iPhone but doesn't run as well on
6436s older ones that's not good enough we
6438s need to make sure that everyone has a
6439s good experience nearly no matter what
6441s device you have of course some times
6443s there are things outside of our control
6445s for example brawl is no longer supported
6448s on certain devices because of an OS
6450s update that is mandatory or something
6451s like that but those are rare So in
6454s general that's kind of the mindset we
6457s have like we want to make sure that it's
6459s playable on as many devices as possible
6461s did I miss some part of the question or
6462s was that the I guess how do you test on
6464s every device oh how do you test on every
6466s device well that's essentially
6467s impossible we don't test on every device
6469s in existence um for example also just to
6471s give an example like let's say you have
6473s a Galaxy phone let's say Galaxy S10 or
6477s whatever um if you bought it in the US
6480s it's a different pH phone from if you
6482s bought it in the EU versus if you bought
6484s it in Asia even though it's the exact
6485s same phone um but it has different
6487s chipsets for example for I'm not going
6488s to go too technical but I'm saying
6490s basically it's impossible to test on all
6492s the variations but what we can do is
6494s make sure that if there is a phone that
6496s is a real problematic case that we can
6497s see from data we get that phone and then
6500s we see okay what is actually the issue

6504s manufacturer has to fix and then we can
6505s for example talk to the m like hey this

6548s we see um an upgrade to the spectator
6551s mode where we would see one game
6553s automatically progress into the next if
6556s it's a power match and then also seeing
6559s draft beforehand that is kind of two
6561s questions two questions oh yeah that's
6563s like that's like okay I'm like ramping
6566s up in in terms of how much development
6569s time it would take and then the final
6571s one that would be nice to see is um an
6573s adjustment to the API that allows you to
6576s see in progress tournament matches
6578s gather realtime data especially in terms
6581s of draft which is currently uh
6583s restricted only to tournament organizers
6586s sure I think there's there's uh many
6589s steps to this I think spectating in
6590s itself is quite a niche in our game if
6593s if we don't look at Esports right and
6594s don't look at API and everything like
6596s people spectating games is not as many
6598s as people playing game obviously but
6601s that doesn't mean it's not a priority
6602s like we're also I'm I'm annoyed by this
6604s every time it's like I have to quit the
6605s Spector and go back in between rounds
6607s like it's really annoying and these
6608s small things that are annoying is stuff
6611s that is basically on our list to fix so
6613s but it doesn't mean that that's the
6614s first thing we're going to fix but
6616s eventually we will get to it
6617s unfortunately it's not a satisfactory
6618s answer cuz I can't give you we will fix
6620s it then but I can tell you we will fix

6625s feature that is related to spectate or

6640s apis yes like we want to make sure it's
6642s as user friendly as possible as
6644s versatile as possible and has you know
6647s kind of the robustness that you'd expect
6649s from the API on the Esports side but
6651s again that takes time and it just needs
6653s someone to prioritize it and for us to
6656s be able to okay this is actually
6657s something we really need for example to
6659s this for this production to be of the
6661s quality that we want it to be and stuff
6663s like that on the API side actually we we
6666s recently hired a new team member he's a
6668s producer who's helping us to get a bit
6670s more organized with some things and um a
6675s like General API not necessarily only
6676s Esports API is now a constant part of
6680s our thinking every update cycle so you
6682s already start reaching out to some uh
6685s you know third party developers who
6687s built websites and stuff around that
6689s braw to to ask them hey what what kind
6692s of features do you want um so the
6695s Esports API is just one other angle
6697s there and um yeah it's probably
6700s something we're going to improve over
6701s time and hopefully we can make it more
6703s accessible for other people but there's
6705s like around competitive play in general
6707s Etc right it's it's still the way
6709s structure right now besides BC it's it's
6711s rather Niche mhm so so there's other
6715s things which probably come before making
6718s the Esports API more accessible and and
6721s you know things like can we make it
6724s easier for people to run tournaments
6726s within brawl with in-game rewards you
6728s know like we don't know yet it's it's
6731s yeah that's that I think the complicated
6733s thing is the spectac draft that's
6737s technically not the way how it's
6739s structured today there's no no easy way
6742s of doing doing this and and so I

6903s shield gear if fit let's say 10% of your
6905s HP it's similar to the um field
6908s promotion but I do think we could
6911s increase the flat value but probably not
6912s make it a percentage if that makes sense

6919s asked for so long to find solution with
6921s coins compared to PowerPoints coins is
6923s in big shortage maybe some kind of
6926s conversion could be possible to at least
6928s redu in the prices of hypercharge and

6941s that there is a problem is because we
6943s are not like giving less coins like we
6945s are giving more coins in general like
6947s raw coins actually on top of like the
6949s renal rewards that's like Gadget star
6951s drops hypercharge in gcha but players
6955s are still complaining about that so
6957s there's a perception that like I'm not
6958s getting enough progression um and I
6961s think it's because not I think like it's
6963s obvious we added a new sink that is a
6966s huge sink hypercharged right so I think
6968s there's a lot of things at play here uh
6972s because if we if we just add a flat
6975s number of coins in the BR pass or like
6978s something that you can see okay so there
6979s is a obvious buff here because before it
6982s was that now it's this like so we would
6984s see like the buff and then that will
6985s probably help a bit with a perception
6987s but I don't think it would solve
6989s anything because it wouldn't change
6990s engagement it wouldn't change uh how
6993s much players will play the game because
6995s as we proved before like if it's just a
6998s flat reward people are not as excited to
7000s get or like they don't chase it um so
7003s then what we do with that is like there
7005s is the need there like people want to
7008s get this currency or they need more of
7010s these so you use this as a carrot for
7013s like our events for like SpongeBob
7015s there's like actual progression there
7016s which is on top of the flat progression
7018s that you have in game community events
7020s is the same we have like this big budget
7023s of like rewards that droping one day and
7026s then you feel like I can't miss this
7028s because uh I will it will help my
7031s account to be to progress so then it
7033s feels like we get more of
7036s the of what player is asking and then we
7039s get like something in return as well and
7041s then you might question like but why are
7043s you so greedy why do you need these
7044s results all the time just do a flat uh
7047s uh buff and that's it and then I think
7050s we go even deeper because like just take
7053s an example like uh the game that just
7054s got released like Jeff is talking all
7056s the time about that the black meat uh
7059s Wukong like it's a game that was made by
7061s a Chinese company and like it's so
7063s polished it's almost like perfect right
7065s and then it beat Dark Souls or every
7067s other Souls game like by but maybe not
7070s by far but like in maybe two weeks
7073s and every time there's a bunch of
7076s developers that are really talented
7077s really good that are releasing games in
7079s the market all the time and we feel like
7081s we are in this constant batt of like how
7084s can we make the most of the things we do
7085s right so that's why we require
7087s engagement for everything we do because
7089s if we in a Moment release something mild
7093s someone can go on top and release
7095s something great and that's could be
7097s enough for us to lose a lot of players
7099s right so that's for why for us players
7102s changing something is really important
7105s with that said I just want to say show a
7108s graph of how much how much more coins we
7111s are giving
7112s now um so like the average that it
7116s doesn't show that much because um of
7119s course there's a lot of spikes and then
7122s if you would uh average like put this
7125s spike in an average it will actually
7126s increase the Baseline but you can see
7128s that even like the Baseline is already
7130s increased when you change the BR pass
7133s um to the new format it's like it feels
7136s that we already like giving more overall
7139s and this for example I don't even know
7140s what this event like in April I think
7143s it's the 100 star drops maybe yeah I
7144s think so yeah like this day like you
7147s shouldn't Miss and that's why like
7148s that's why the events are so successful
7150s right so I think it's just like us
7153s asking for engagement like keep playing
7155s the game constantly and you get rewarded
7157s and you maybe you feel like the
7159s progression is going faster um we have
7163s here the average daily income so like
7165s that's every day and then you can see
7168s how like the Baseline is very high um
7171s and it's still uh climbing up which
7174s makes Jeff on our side to be to get
7176s desperate like oh my God they're getting
7178s too many coins but like then we can also
7180s raas hypercharge and sinks and things
7183s like that we can balance it out or maybe
7185s like not put them as much rewards on in
7188s a event so for example the last one we
7190s did with the box versus start drop
7193s um well we actually gave both rewards so
7195s that was a lot as well it was a lot but
7198s intentionally it was supposed to be like
7200s one of the rewards only so it wasn't
7202s like as much but you can see like the
7205s events are kind of like this flexible
7207s currency that we can adapt to however
7209s our economy is it's like we can see like
7211s that yeah players are getting too little
7213s they can't progress uh then you should
7216s like a bigger event and things like that
7218s because we also don't want to be in a
7220s situation where like there's a pay or
7223s like uh we play like we our mobile games
7225s here we play those games that like you
7227s play the first week and like yeah I'm
7230s progressing it feels great then like P
7232s you get to a point that like you need to
7234s play a month to upgrade your character
7236s to one level or something like that and
7238s brow is not like that you have agency to
7241s progress whoever you want and I think
7243s maybe the arguments like how can I be
7245s competitive how can I have all my
7246s Brawlers progress but a freeo player
7250s shouldn't be in this situation I think
7252s it's fine to ask that if they want a
7254s braw to be upgrade they can wait a
7257s season right and then they can invest
7258s all the resources there but
7261s basically that's the answer like we are
7265s adding more coins we adapt when we see
7267s that the
7269s the that we are actually giving less
7272s than they should and then we never want
7274s the progression to feel stale but we
7277s don't we don't just want to give like a
7279s flat coin buff because we don't we we
7284s know we won't get any results from that
7287s people will probably still have the same
7289s complaints but at least now they know
7292s why I I genuinely believe people always
7294s complained about coins in the history of
7297s broad stars from the very beginning yeah

7302s would like to solve this but I guess

7307s enough it's it's like even if you

7409s already enough to be competitive right

7413s he's being smart on his choices so he's
7414s not picking brers that are like weak for

7418s making choices right and I think that's
7420s something that we expect from a free
7423s play player like maybe you don't get all
7424s your Brawlers to level 11 with Hyper
7426s charges straight away that's fine then
7428s you know then you have to focus on okay

7433s favorite one and so forth and I think
7434s it's fine to ask for that

7440s maybe a little bit more like consistency
7442s in the stardrop rewards especially when
7445s it's like an item worth gold uh that
7447s you're reing could that maybe help the
7449s problem here plus like remove that
7451s slight frustration when like you get a
7453s legendary and you're hoping for I don't
7454s know a hypercharge but you get a gadget
7457s instead sure um this is something we
7458s discussed actually recently as well um I
7460s don't want to spoil too much but there's
7462s definitely discussions going on like how
7463s can we feel like you have more agency
7466s when you're opening drops essentially
7468s it's like oh I'm I keep getting bling
7470s you know and I just I just want credits
7472s for my uh for my fame yeah and yeah I
7477s was just going to say like it's very
7479s subjective as well right like let's say
7480s you get a hypercharge right if you
7482s really like that brawler that's a great
7483s drop for you yeah if you don't like the
7485s brawler that's not a good drop for you
7487s but value-wise it's the same right like
7489s the absolute value is the same but not
7491s for you and that's a tricky thing to
7493s solve for right like how do you feel
7495s about that so yeah also random ability
7498s also allows us to give more exactly
7500s because of that it's like we are only
7502s allowed to give more resources because
7504s you don't get exactly what you want all
7506s the time right it's like it's you are
7508s still progressing your account and you
7509s still get the value but then uh yeah but
7512s because if you give exactly what you
7514s want then you don't have a Carro to
7515s Chase and then that you don't have a
7517s meaning to play the
7519s game there's also like tons of POS about
7522s giving your rewards for Brawlers you're
7524s not currently playing for sure yeah
7525s because you you want people to have a
7528s white as possible brawler pool because
7530s they will enjoy the game more the the
7532s moment you you get over this onetick
7534s Pony behavior that you know you're only
7536s playing Edgar Edgar yeah then like it
7540s but sometimes it needs a carrot it needs
7542s to have a gentle push to hey we gave you
7545s hypercharge for this BR now you never
7546s play this roll up but you know go over
7549s there well actually it's it's true RNG
7551s for us so it's it's not like even we're
7553s deliberately targeting rets you're not
7555s playing but it it really helps actually
7558s the game as a whole to push you gently
7561s in trying out a different brawler you
7562s never played because you know oh my God
7564s you you might turn out that you like
7566s this other braer and then you're like oh
7568s damn I I really like playing this
7570s brawler so it's like the the random
7574s rewards have a have a really good use in
7576s that in that way as well and at the same
7578s time it allows us to give us more value
7581s actually than we would in flat
7583s currency Cho choice and and value need
7586s to be in Balance always yeah and I think
7589s randomized rewards give us this this
7591s ability to give a little bit more
7592s because it's
7594s random cool then Cubit will there be
7598s updates that have a long effect on game
7600s uh because last updates were just an

7715s the surplus of PowerPoints is a very
7717s specific one again it's affecting very

7819s people who have pretty much all the

7848s trading and high trophy matchmaking how

7855s tricky to tell what's Wing Trader

8467s changed the schem it was because we are
8470s not CH uh the final voting was with the
8473s original concept now we are already
8475s redrawing the way that feels more braw
8479s and then um
8481s so then once you vote for the sking to
8484s win it won't change anymore so like it
8487s was only like in the past where we're
8488s not like actually redrawing all the skin
8490s before they go to the final voting then
8492s before they go to brawl we just like
8494s adapt how they would be better for the
8497s game which is usually like toning up the
8499s colors or making more Vivid or like
8502s making the shapes more toy like a bit
8504s more round not like super um square or
8508s things like that like I think the last
8509s one that happened was Fang and then
8511s after that we were redrawing all the
8513s finalists before it go it goes for the
8516s final voting yeah often there's
8517s simplification needed like like normally
8520s our our skins are like they have a
8523s specific language when it comes to you
8525s know the lines and like how they just
8528s come together without too much detail
8530s and a lot of Concepts have too much
8532s detail even like that's not happening
8534s with only with fan artists by the way
8536s that also happens internally when
8538s someone is creating a concept or like
8540s one of our Partners creat a concept that
8542s we have to quite often you know go back
8544s and forth until we find the final thing
8547s so it's not just with fan artist we
8549s cannot do that the same way we cannot
8552s take their time that much so so we do it
8554s ourselves and get because we normally
8557s then end up liking those designs right
8559s we think they're there m so it's just
8562s yeah a step in
8563s between cool no error is it possible to
8566s add a game mode where the New Balance
8568s changes or brers will be available for
8570s play testing to get enough data for the
8572s Casual player base from the Casual
8574s player base on how fair the changes are
8577s and how balanced the new brothers are so
8579s basically like a test build so this is
8582s interesting so because it says is it
8583s possible currently no actually we can't
8585s have like two versions of the game in
8587s the same game something we want though
8590s is being able to add let's say balance
8592s changes on the fly so to speak because
8594s now as you've noticed whenever we need
8595s to make balance changes we should need
8597s to have a maintenance for it in a
8598s perfect world in the future um I would
8600s love to see us being able to do that on
8602s the Fly and when that happens this is
8604s also possible and I think it's actually

8607s I've noticed lately is um when I load up
8610s brawl Stars it says downloading content
8612s and I see this happen with other games
8614s where you don't need to download an
8616s update from the App Store you don't need
8617s to go through that layer of approval you
8618s can just get the update that way is that
8620s one of the systems that would assist

8630s instead of seeing the the bar sitting
8631s there at x% or you know you see the
8634s number or you don't see the bar moving

8827s viable solution to help us with this
8829s problem but again it's like easier when
8832s you have like just one language to cover
8834s and much harder if you have like 12 15
8837s 20 you know our players don't even care
8839s how many languages we have in the game
8841s they might still talk in whatever
8842s language they speak so it's a yeah it's

8846s complicated player safety super
8848s important for us and that comes first
8851s and as long as we don't have a good
8852s answer on how we would moderate we won't
8855s release it are those the primary reasons
8858s it's not in the game or is there also
8860s just um perhaps from like an artistic
8862s standpoint for the game no no no
8864s artistics has nothing to do with it it's
8866s just you know like if you played other
8869s games with voice jet you know how how
8872s toxic it can be uh we have a lot of
8875s young players it's our job to protect
8878s them from stuff like this of course you
8880s can say hey just have voice chat just
8882s for 16 plus but that's also kind of yeah
8886s a mess solution yeah and and
8889s so right now you know we rely on players
8892s who really want to be in voice chat to
8893s be in Discord to have FaceTime running
8895s in the background whatever it is and we
8897s know all players are doing this so it's

8901s yeah in a perfect world we could have
8902s voice chat but that's a perfect world
8904s that assumes that nobody has ill intent
8907s and and that's unrealistic to expect so
8909s first we need to have a solution for

8917s amount of people that like get scammed

9090s feedback can you communicate can you
9092s organize structure you know it's also
9094s technical right like integrate this into
9096s the game so for it's many together and
9100s like draw you don't want to necessarily
9103s you're not always you're not always in
9104s love with exactly what you're doing
