96s with this whole intro uh do you maybe

101s one overall thought of the update or
103s should It Go bit by bit
107s well are you good with me asking a quick
108s question I was sure to start off with
110s bling
111s um so bling gives access to all sorts of
116s cosmetic content that players just did
117s not have access to before okay and
119s that's really personally I love it it's
121s exciting it's fun free to players can
122s unlock pretty much everything that they
124s want to with the very few exceptions I
126s would kind of like to hear why you
128s decided to open up the economy so wide
131s to so many creators when a lot of other
133s game developers from different games are
134s restricting more and more content from
136s their free to play players
139s that's a big question
141s that's a really big question
143s um
144s there's a bunch of reasons around this
147s actually
148s um
148s to beginning
150s I'd argue like we we always had this
152s problem with our star Point economy
154s take that as a starting point when we
157s introduce star points and that's really
158s long ago actually
160s we had the issue that
162s it came with a need to produce content
164s along those star points
166s right in the beginning we just actually
167s I'm not sure how many people remember
169s that
170s but in the very beginning there was just
172s skins
173s there was nothing else you could buy for
175s Star points
177s and then there was Community feedback
178s and we took that into consideration even
181s back then
182s and we change it so that you can buy a
185s limited amount of boxes back then Mega
187s boxes big boxes
189s every few weeks
190s and um
192s then every now now and then we created
195s some more skins to go long
197s with this new system back then
200s but we've really ended up like
202s yeah we whenever we created the skin we
205s ended up in a situation where we had to
207s ask ourselves the question are we doing
209s this for
210s gems so we can monetize it
213s or are we creating it for Star points
215s that does something
217s we don't actually really know what it
218s does doesn't create more engagement when
220s people can buy a skin for start points
224s and if you take it a step back and you
226s think about skin production
228s is each skin depending on the effort
230s we're putting in cost X USD
233s right that's a very like cold business
235s like
236s perspective it's true but but it's
238s there's a cost to produce a skin
241s and of course you won't have a payback
242s and let's let's assume you create a 149
244s gem skin
245s and you're like okay to to make this
247s work
249s this needs to sell x amount of
252s skins for
254s gems and those gems need to be paid
258s gems because else we are not getting
260s anything out of it right
262s so
264s and then you do the same
265s and you create a skin for Starboy which
267s has the same value proposition
270s but you are selling it for nothing right
272s that also needs to somehow come back
275s and this coming back is then like two
277s players retain longer are they creating
280s an appetite for skins and then they
282s start to buy other skins
284s or does it do nothing
287s and we I think we pretty quickly saw
290s that it then didn't actually have a huge
293s positive impact on our skin economy to
296s do this
297s so more often than not we were like oh
299s yeah let's you know one of the Skins
301s just like as a token gesture almost
303s let's put one skin there
306s and and eventually just became the power
308s League that's pretty much all it was
311s just exactly and that was actually quite
313s a nice solution to this problem because
315s it meant for the majority of players
318s yeah I know there's this 0.01 percent of
320s our player base which have always way
322s too many Star points and had too many
324s Star points in the past
325s but this is you have to understand this
327s is completely outlier it's it's really
330s not a normal situation for anyone nobody
332s in the team for example was in this
335s situation
336s it took me like I don't know
339s I guess by our definition I'm on the
341s lower end hardcore
343s and I maybe when when we did the
345s transition from Starbucks to bling I had
347s maybe 100 000 star points saved up
350s and they were like
352s and then then they were like
355s a few hundred players out of tens of
358s Millions
359s who had you know like
363s significantly over half a million or so
365s star points but it's completely outlier
367s so for most people having this 25 000
370s stop once again every season made a lot
371s of sense
372s and I worked really well and it was kind
374s of in balance
375s but for some people you know their
377s balance also the way it is we designed
379s it just kept creeping up
382s and that was an issue it was an issue
384s because Community especially the allowed
386s guys
386s for them it was like oh we need to you
388s know you need to give us something we
390s can buy for Star points and a lot of
392s other people were like oh it's pretty
393s lame we can only buy this one skin every
395s season or so
397s yeah not a great solution and then when
400s we started thinking about it more we we
401s thought like
403s could we actually open up most of the
406s skins for bling
408s and instead of controlling what you can
411s buy
412s control have better control over the
415s amount of income people have
417s because that was always the fear right
418s if we give too much free stuff the game
421s doesn't become sustainable anymore
423s so if we if we and then we don't get
425s brawl anymore yeah exactly exactly so
427s this all about sustainability in the
429s long run right we want this game to be
431s long term
433s and in order to do so we need to
435s monetize it so how can we find the sweet
437s spot where we
438s we give you know free stuff to people
441s and more choice
443s while at the same time making sure that
444s uh we are still sustainable and this is
448s the balance we found and then we thought
450s like okay
451s previously people got like six power
453s League skins per year
455s uh we are not creating new skins so that
458s is kind of the hard cap for people
459s actually what to do with star points
461s so more than
463s 150 000 star points would do nothing for
466s you it would just increase your balance
467s but it would do nothing
470s so instead going to so we discussed like
473s a hardcore player how much should they
475s get and we said eight six skins they get
479s already a plus two
480s and that's a 149 jump skins
483s or the equivalent of that and it felt
485s like a really nice balance to have there
487s again understanding that most people do
489s not
490s or did not get in the past 25 000 star
493s points per season that's already you are
496s smaller than top five percent of our
498s playways
500s so so yeah
502s so it felt like the best solution out of
504s all two
505s kind of give people more choice
508s while controlling how much people can
510s actually buy so we're not screwing our
512s economy over
514s and here we are well how does the team
516s feel about it now then like it's in
518s retrospect was the right decision is it
520s kind of causing any issues with uh how
523s much revenue is actually coming in or is
524s it good we don't know yet okay
527s so these things take more time than
529s people think that they do yeah like we
532s we expected before we release this
534s update you know with the introduction of
535s the catalog as well
537s we expect that a lot of people will go
540s and start buying
541s the Skins they always wondered or the
544s the pins they always wanted or whatever
545s whatever it is because on the past you
547s were like reliant on luck that it showed
549s up in your store
550s or that you had a pin back where it was
552s included or what not
554s and since we removed this barrier
557s so you just just imagine in the past you
559s you unlocked a brawler you really wanted
564s but no skin for this Brawlers in the
566s shop
567s and then you know when back then when we
569s had 25 skins having the skin rotation
571s that made a lot of sense because you
572s waited maybe a week to see that skin you
575s wanted
576s but now we have three hundreds in the
578s game of skins in the game
580s which means
581s you know it might never show up
585s and that's how it felt so by removing
588s this barrier we of course that means
590s that people who want to pay for content
593s now they unlock the brawler they want
595s and then they can just go to the catalog
598s to buy the skin the pin whatever they
601s want for this product right and we
603s expected that this will increase
604s temporarily at least
606s the revenue from cosmetic content
611s um so and because of this effect which
613s we expected it's impossible to tell it
616s if
618s this whole thing pays off or not if it
620s works or not
622s but yeah I guess Community sentiment
623s wise that's of course was a really
625s positive for us yeah and the majority of
627s people of course like the system I know
629s that some people were like I mean Danny
631s can talk more about the community center
632s band yeah I guess like uh the the thing
635s is that as Frank said like before they
638s were getting six from parley right the
640s hardcore players and now they are
641s getting more it's like regardless like
643s if you think like um the Skin's got uh
646s the price of these Kings is more
648s expensive than before where we are
650s getting more overall it's like it's what
652s but I think the problem is that it's
654s hard to visualize right I think it's
656s hard to feel that you are getting more
658s because it's like a to the course of a
661s year and then I think like the puzzle
663s that we're always trying to figure out
664s is like
665s uh we have like this budget of link that
668s you can deliver in one year what is the
670s exact Cadence that will make you feel
672s that you are progressing towards and
674s then you uh you feel that every time you
677s get bling it's meaningful right because
679s now we have like the trophy reset which
681s gives like very little but like of
682s course it's like the precursor of the
683s the year and then um and then there's uh
687s Power league and then we did some
688s challenge just like to uh promote the
691s feature as we release it uh but then
694s like what is the actual number or like
696s what is the Cadence that you make like
699s uh meaningful for every time you get
701s bling you're like yeah I'm excited I'm
703s progressing like it's very hard to tell
705s because it could be like I don't know is
707s it too but it's every day it's like 100
710s but uh every week like how can we really
713s uh find this uh
716s uh unicorn number especially because
718s like there are so many sources of bling
720s so I guess that's where like we're
722s tweaking and like once you find The
724s Sweet Spot I guess that's how we are uh
727s keeping it but uh but overall like bling
731s for the community it is like a really
733s nice feature because basically you can
736s get the skin you want for free right and
738s um
739s and pins before if you had a specific
742s bra you wanted to get pins for you
744s couldn't choose you just open up a pin
745s pack and then it's like one of yeah 300
748s pins that you might be able to get and
750s hopefully it's that one that you want
752s yeah so now you can just go to mortise
753s and be like having all of mortises fins
756s because I like mortise right yeah and I
758s I think I also like one of the arguments
759s of like why we believed ping was like
762s the right call is because before when
764s you have like bro talk or like we're
766s promoting the update we this section of
769s the update is only for uh five percent
772s of the players right schemes like
774s because you see this King being released
776s and like I'll never get that I'll never
777s pay for this uh like I would rather buy
780s the broadcast because like that's a
781s clear offer that you should buy if you
783s have like very little money or very
785s little opportunity to purchase something
787s and then with bling it's like you see
791s the Skins like I can buy this unless
793s it's a legendary or a Mythic but uh you
796s give like um
798s such a huge uh tool to promote the
801s update right now this part of the update
803s is interesting for everyone so that's
805s like the the payoff that we want to
808s achieve I mean fundamentally when you
810s think about it for a majority of the
811s players it goes from I can never get
813s this to I can get this yes that's a big
815s change yeah that's huge
819s now you have bling that you can just
821s like you're no longer forced to get the
823s skin that came in the world pass you can
825s get whatever skin you want so even more
827s Choice which is awesome and that's also
829s a win-win there actually yeah because in
831s the past we always had to ask ourselves
832s the question okay we only have so many
834s low Rarity Brothers
836s for for introducing skins and because
839s you used to get the brother too because
840s you used to get the brawler which is of
842s course so what you're saying is you had
843s to release skins that were low Rarity
845s Brawlers because not everybody had like
847s you know Leon you couldn't do a skin for
849s Leon in the building correct that
850s correct yeah and now
853s this is kind of a win-win we're kind of
855s if you just want the same experience you
857s had in the past you can just on day one
859s of the broadcast I got the broadcast you
862s get the link currency to buy the skin we
864s release on day one
866s and then you you know you have the same
869s experience you had before
871s but if you don't like that skin
873s you know buy something else for it but
875s the funny thing is that I saw some
877s Confluence complaints about this and
879s then of course like we read everything
882s and we feel that every feedback is
884s important but dude
886s like because they're like oh it's not
888s like the same feeling I'm buying this
890s past but doesn't feel like it belongs to
892s the FedEx
893s but that's the kind of feedback like
895s yeah maybe like it's better for like 99
898s of the people so you're fine not
900s addressing your concern no
903s yeah it's always it's always a
905s a fine balance this whole you know there
907s was this whole conversation about oh the
910s increased prices for some skins or what
912s not
914s but when we when we when we did this
916s exercise also changing the price because
918s the prices for startup and things were
919s completely wet before okay there was no
921s yeah they were no real structure to it
923s no real logic so we we fixed that
925s but at the same time people of course
927s feel like oh the skin is now twice the
929s price okay I understand it if you're
931s transitioning from the old world into
932s the new world there's this awkward
934s moment that or I could just buy the skin
937s for 25 000 star points
939s and that's five thousand bling so this
942s this Awkward Moment is there but looking
944s forward
945s right it's much clearer for everyone and
947s at the same time
949s we again we didn't take away
952s the any amount of skins you could get
955s and in fact we increased it from six to
957s eight
958s and and so for us we focused on what
960s what do you get not
961s or what what can you possibly unlock not
964s necessarily
965s what is the what is the price tag for
967s that because it doesn't matter as long
968s as we give you the currency to get that
971s stuff yeah and yes if you're if you're
973s playing today and you're hardcore like
976s you were before you had to be hardcore
977s to unlock those six skins before
979s right if you're if you hardcore like
982s that then today you will get enough to
984s get these six skins plus two
987s yeah I guess like uh can I put you on
990s the spot fee because I know you had some
992s concerns yeah actually I was gonna speak
994s up about this I think like one of the
995s hard things about this
998s um putting bling in that you know was
1000s certainly brought up during development
1002s was you know Cosmetics fundamentally
1005s don't do not have a gameplay impact
1009s and uh as you know you know we've had
1012s Cosmetics from the very early days of
1014s the game and so there is some part of me
1018s that is asking the question well if if
1021s Skins are now kind of very free to play
1024s friendly like most of our skins are
1025s purchasable with this currency
1028s um
1028s in some regard I wonder if the people
1031s who bought them with gems
1034s um particularly recently I guess uh
1038s whether they still feel their value has
1041s been preserved because part of the
1043s reason people buy skins is to show off
1045s they show off to other people they say
1047s hey like I like this game so much and
1049s this is so much that I was willing to
1050s spend money on this and we do lose some
1053s of that and cosmetics fundamentally like
1056s we said are our shows show off pieces in
1058s a lot of ways whether it's showing off
1060s that you really like a particular skin
1062s whether it was you had to really work
1064s hard to earn one such as through the
1066s power League system and that is also uh
1070s we need to consider respecting those
1072s players for spending the time and effort
1075s as well as the money to to actually get
1077s those and so we don't obviously this is
1080s still only about a month in we'll see
1083s how things turn out from a you know
1085s metric standpoint but it is something
1087s that you know philosophically I wonder
1090s about
1092s and that was also one of the reasons why
1094s we decided to
1096s not only have tears of skins which are
1099s like we had legendary skins right the
1101s 299 gem skins which we decided from the
1103s get-go know here we have to draw the
1105s line somewhere
1106s and this is where the line is and and
1109s these Skins are really for people you
1110s know like
1111s depending on the type of skins you have
1113s there's a different percentage of the
1116s gems which monetize actually
1117s like for example 30 gem skins or 29 gem
1120s skins these days the percentage of free
1123s gems behind those is really high
1126s that makes sense so so just imagine like
1128s I'm making this number up okay but it's
1130s in a ballpark 80 free gems 20 Page jumps
1134s for 30 Dem skins for 299 gem skins
1138s it's almost like it's more than the
1140s reverse okay
1142s so the vast majority is paid gems
1144s because these are people you know no no
1146s free to play player essentially is ever
1148s buying
1149s a 299 gem skins for gems yeah you got to
1152s save up for Four Seasons yeah eight
1154s months of saving up gems for one skin
1156s it's not worth it when you have the
1157s brawl pass yeah it's absolutely not yeah
1159s so first we wanted to preserve the
1161s feeling there that okay it really help
1163s us you know those Skins are the most
1165s valuable skins in the game
1167s your your help is running the game we
1169s protect your purchase in a way
1171s and and then we we for a while actually
1174s well we only introduced the 100 199 gem
1177s skins now
1178s we're actually toying with that idea for
1180s a long time already
1182s because we always had the skin like this
1184s is a really really cool skin we're
1186s putting a lot of effort in it's not
1188s quite a legendary it doesn't have custom
1190s vo or anything like this but everything
1192s else is it's legendary you know
1195s and when when we this this whole
1197s transition and also introduce Rarities
1198s what just felt like oh this is the right
1200s moment to do it
1202s and then also would agree with that you
1203s know I'm actually impressed or surprised
1206s that you guys didn't increase some of
1208s the tiers that were already in the or
1209s some of the skins that were already in
1210s the game like Ice Queen Amber she
1212s absolutely could have been one I don't
1214s want to put ideas in your mind don't
1215s change it now but there were some skins
1218s that I was like you know what I could
1219s have seen them doing that and I don't
1220s know that I could have complained about
1221s it like hey buyer now because she's
1224s gonna cost more afterwards that would
1225s have been fine with me but you're right
1227s there were some skins that what that 199
1229s tier it honestly feels natural I think
1232s that's good
1233s um V to kind of respond to some of your
1235s questions or some of your concerns I
1237s mean I can't speak for everybody but I
1238s do spend more money on the game than
1240s most people do and maybe maybe I'm not
1243s the actual right person because I just
1244s buy everything
1246s you know I don't think that one skin but
1249s um I do think that having that that
1251s Mythic and that legendary Rarity is
1254s really good there and you know also just
1256s from the games perspective I like the
1258s fact that people are gonna we're gonna
1260s start seeing more skins in the game more
1263s frequently and I think that overall
1265s skins will be more celebrated as opposed
1267s to being like Oh that guy's a gemmer
1270s like I lost him probably because he
1272s spent money on the game you know and now
1274s it's like oh that could just be some
1276s dude that just saved up his bling for
1278s his specific skin so I think it's
1279s exciting might even encourage more
1281s spending I don't actually know if that's
1282s actually the case though yeah that goes
1284s a little bit back to what Donny was
1285s saying about like
1287s in the past whenever we we made the
1290s effort to please these cool skins and
1292s even in Brawl talk we're talking about
1293s these skins and on social media we're
1295s talking about every skin release
1297s and all of that effort when they do
1299s essentially we did it for like less than
1302s five percent of our playbase yeah so so
1305s and now it's a cool moment for everyone
1307s in the game when we release a new skin
1309s yes I know there's still the blackout
1311s period again it has to do with like
1313s balancing
1314s the needs of our place was our own you
1318s mean a two-week period that they're not
1319s able to purchase exactly this is again
1322s it's like to to this point like to
1325s preserve a moment for people who really
1326s want to show off
1327s here's your moment
1329s and that's fine you know I was like to
1331s be honest I'm I'm totally in this camp
1333s it's like there's only skins for
1335s Brawlers are rarely using where I'm like
1337s waiting those two weeks like the the 30
1340s gem skins now for example I I just was
1342s like oh yeah you know I really don't
1344s need this because I have other skins but
1346s I wanted for my collection yes so so I
1349s buy it a little bit later for bling
1352s I think I think this but everything else
1353s I'm buying directly for money yeah and I
1355s think like uh it was one of the
1357s feedbacks you gave on The 100 Review uh
1360s right cairos that you said like maybe
1361s the two-week uh period is too long but I
1365s guess like uh our uh argument against it
1368s is like what we did is something
1370s incredibly risky like we pick like our
1374s monetization exclusive content and we
1377s slash 80 now it's for everyone for free
1380s it's like to have like these little
1382s two-week period I think it's something
1384s that's acceptable yeah yeah and I maybe
1387s it's annoying yeah maybe but it's fair
1389s yeah yes it's also it's annoying right
1392s for me as a spender who like I have
1394s bling and I want to spend it on and so
1396s I'm now I'm sitting there like I could
1397s just buy this skin or I could wait two
1399s weeks like I want to wait two weeks like
1400s the skin should already be mine I
1401s already have the bling for it so it is
1403s annoying but I will give that to you I
1406s recognize the decision behind it and it
1408s does make sense and you're right what
1409s you decided to do was very risky key to
1412s completely open up all the you know the
1416s Cosmetics that were not available to
1417s free to play players I think more people
1420s are going to be happy with the two-week
1421s period than are going to be upset about
1423s it yeah and I think uh also I forgot I
1427s was going to say so move on sorry we
1429s talked a lot about bling as well maybe
1431s we should talk about something else I
1432s guess overall blink what's a nice thing
1434s uh what would be like the the real
1436s concerns like maybe the blackout period
1438s was something uh maybe the distribution
1441s is a problem that we need to solve still
1444s um well I think that a lot of people and
1447s uh you guys had already kind of touch on
1448s this is that the power League Skins are
1452s there's a lot of requirement for the
1455s power League skin you have to get 60
1456s wins that's on top of you know 60 wins
1459s throughout the season that doesn't sound
1460s bad because literally it's just one win
1463s every day that's all you have to do and
1465s if you win twice on a day then you don't
1468s have to play the next day it's not hard
1469s but most players don't play like that
1471s they either grind it out right at the
1473s very beginning or grind it out right at
1475s the very end and that's really
1475s frustrating because on top of that those
1478s 60 wins they also have to do daily
1480s quests Club League
1482s um they have map maker special events
1484s and a lot of different ways that they're
1485s wanting to spend their time on the game
1486s and doing that is a big time requirement
1488s and then on top of that the price was
1490s increased from 25 000 star points which
1494s is the equivalent of 2500 bling up to
1497s 5000 bling which is twice that amount
1500s um and so you know you already kind of
1503s addressed these concerns but how does
1504s the team feel about the seasonal power
1507s League skin at the moment because for me
1509s personally as a gemmer I would be fine
1511s if you could just buy it immediately
1513s with or without the power leagues did it
1515s wins and then have a discount so if you
1519s get the 60 wins then it gets discounted
1521s a little bit but
1522s you've already talked about how this
1526s whole bling concept was around the pro
1528s players previously getting six skins and
1530s now getting eight so like
1532s this would essentially double that from
1535s 6 to 12 which is more than you you
1537s bounce it around so what are your
1539s concerns yeah yeah that that that part
1541s you touched on it again we we didn't
1544s think of it as the
1547s in a way that like what is the the
1549s influx of currency
1551s we just changed the the whole the whole
1554s calculation and looked at it from what
1556s do players actually get
1558s so you weren't looking at the number of
1559s bling you were just looking we want to
1561s go from six skins per year to eight
1564s skins per year that's right and 50 000
1566s or 5 000 bling just happened to coincide
1569s with that eight skins per year yeah that
1572s that
1573s um this whole calculation again was as I
1575s touched on as well the the economy for
1577s Starbucks was Wick there was no you know
1580s if you looked at the different skin
1581s tiers and the price it did not make
1583s sense and it was not in line with
1585s everything else and the moment you know
1588s like first we we started with how many
1590s skins do we want to give for free that
1592s was the first question we asked actually
1593s not to put this underlying currency
1595s should we rebalance things no no it was
1598s what is the amount of free skins we can
1600s give to all players if they're really
1601s really engaged
1603s and we ended up with the number eight
1605s and there was different numbers in the
1607s room you know there were slime oh maybe
1608s three
1609s or maybe 12. and and we argued about
1612s this quite a bit actually quite a bit
1613s Yeah so so people people pulling in
1616s different directions
1618s um
1619s and and the eight was a compromise it
1621s was it felt like okay people already get
1623s six
1624s essentially if the hardcore rates those
1626s are the six public ones
1628s so let's give everyone a little bit more
1632s and that was the number eight it's like
1635s felt like a really good step in the
1637s right direction again this pricing and
1639s this change from
1641s this doubling the price for for the the
1644s power League skin it's very
1646s that's it's in my head it's almost a
1648s little bit of an obscure argument and I
1650s know emotionally it feels like that yeah
1652s but practically speaking people are
1655s getting more
1656s and and so for me like
1659s we cannot just half the price or give a
1662s discount when you play through it
1663s because again it throws a whole economy
1665s Wick again
1666s it would like in fact it would
1669s it does it doesn't work
1671s financially it just does not work right
1673s and so so we cannot or I see I see a
1677s similar argument when people say oh just
1678s give my bling no no we cannot just yeah
1682s it's it's doing the same like we ended
1685s up with eight as the number so whatever
1687s we do yeah this number will like
1690s unlikely change I mean we have to look
1692s at the data of course to be honest it
1695s could go either way you know we could
1697s end up saying oh we can be a bit more
1699s generous or we can say no we need to be
1701s a bit more stingy
1703s and of course that is never a nice
1705s conversation with the community to say
1706s oh look guys we're taking something away

1730s developing the game and then we no
1732s longer get brawl stars and so that's
1734s what you're saying we need to preserve
1736s the game that's the number one uh
1738s concern and if you can give away free
1740s Cosmetics along the way and it still
1742s makes sense you want to because that's
1744s fun and exciting gets people hyped about
1746s the game so I think that people
1747s understand that I just think that it's
1749s easy for them to lose sight of that yeah
1750s and if you like fast forward a year from
1753s now
1754s the the amount of people who will still
1756s think in terms of oh double the price
1760s that that will if you just join the game
1762s today
1764s you you the majority of people will play
1766s next year started today
1768s they didn't start before the changes
1771s they started today
1772s so in a year from now these people will
1775s grow up with a oh we get eight free
1777s skins
1778s and that's it and they don't care on us
1780s like again this whole Starpoint argument
1783s is like it's it's again it's whack
1785s because we also gave so many Star points
1787s which were essentially meaningless
1790s and that's and people also realize that
1792s right they realized oh great I'm getting
1794s star points from this challenge but it
1796s doesn't do anything
1797s because I cannot buy anything for it
1799s because when when we introduced them we
1802s didn't do a good enough job with the
1804s economy and making sure that this is
1806s sustainable and we actually can produce
1808s a Content there were a few other
1811s conversations part of it like and that
1813s was even before power League when I was
1815s a power play
1816s that the the top 100 player on earth got
1819s a ginormous amount of stuff yeah like
1822s it's like philosophically it was a nice
1824s idea
1825s but but practically speaking it created
1828s more and more school economy of star
1829s points yeah I think uh one one of the
1833s things one of the reasons I loved this
1835s podcast format is uh because a lot of
1838s people in the community don't
1841s necessarily understand the day-to-day of
1843s what game developers do there's there's
1845s gap of knowledge between what people see
1848s and perceive and the day-to-day
1850s decisions we have to make in order to
1852s arrive at those and when the Gap kind of
1854s exists
1856s um people might call us names they might
1859s um speak ill will of us because they
1863s don't understand and and also it's
1865s really hard for us to explain everything
1866s because we don't have so much time we
1868s have to develop the game and you know
1871s this is one of those things where it's
1872s like well you know when we're tuning the
1874s economy what is the right number we
1876s should be tuning for well it's not that
1879s everybody just gets everything for free
1880s okay so we know that extreme and it's
1882s not that they get nothing
1885s um so it's somewhere in the middle and
1886s that middle thing is really hard to
1889s hammer it on we debate and you should
1892s see the spreadsheets where we go back
1894s and forth as to what is the right you
1896s know model what is the right assumptions
1898s what the people feel they should get
1901s versus what they actually get and
1904s there's not only like a numerical number
1906s that we look to because we have to
1908s actually put that number in but the
1909s players don't look at the necessarily
1912s look at the actual physical numbers
1914s they're they go off a feel
1916s yeah and so in order to get that field
1919s overlap this is where kind of art meets
1921s science
1922s um and maybe this is the reason I love
1924s working game development uh personally
1926s is that how do we get there and and
1928s every day is kind of like maybe a new
1930s challenge
1932s um and this is just one of those things
1933s where it's like hey if we tune it to
1935s strength you know to be too stingy you
1938s know we'll assess it and we'll we'll
1939s we'll change it but when people say ah
1942s they were just trying to be greedy
1943s therefore they do this at least
1945s understand that that is not our
1947s intention with this we're trying to get
1949s to the right balance yeah as you should
1952s see the message I sent to the like V if
1956s you do this the community is called It's
1958s Gonna burn us alive that's true then
1961s he's like okay I've sent messages like
1963s that to me as well I'm just kidding
1965s tyros has sent me these paragraph
1967s responses as a result of life
1970s I ask him one line and he goes and he
1973s goes ah you know I started typing
1975s something yeah and I guess I took the
1976s paragraph so here you get my math and he
1979s just goes boom and I'm like spending
1981s like a half an hour just processing what
1983s he's saying and most of the time I
1985s appreciate actually all the time I
1986s appreciate it because I know that you're
1987s very passionate and you you know wanna
1990s want to do right by the community and
1991s into the game and so you know it's just
1994s a matter of reconciling that properly
1995s it's it's still a half an hour that I
1997s took away from your life

2035s power League reset because I mean that's
2037s really closely associated with bling but
2040s I think that a lot of people do have
2041s strong feelings about trophy League
2043s reset and power League reset
2046s um and so how is the team feeling about
2049s it I don't have a specific question you
2051s guys started with a two-week reset it
2053s was clear that the things weren't
2055s feeling exactly how people wanted it to
2056s be and so you bumped it to a one month
2058s reset yeah and um how are you feeling
2061s now I want Frank
2064s I want Frank to see it first because I'm
2066s gonna disagree with uh I'm gonna
2070s disagree live
2073s Frank's already on the device
2077s well originally it was more it was
2079s mostly
2080s we were mostly coming from a point where
2082s there were two pieces to it
2084s it was the one piece of limiting the
2087s amount of brawlers
2089s and the other piece is the Cadence of of
2091s when when it resets
2095s and we felt like we have a lot of
2097s short-term goals now in the game where
2100s you like I like that we we have a bunch
2102s of small things in the game which are
2104s like you know today oh I'm playing a
2106s little bit I'm unlocking another
2108s broadcast here
2110s I'm playing a few days I'm getting a
2112s Mastery level
2114s stuff like that
2115s and then we have them really close to my
2117s next bling skin so I'm gonna push my
2118s trophies up so that I can get that skin
2121s and then in the past we have this
2122s two-month Cadence of the power League
2124s which was mostly then built about this
2126s big reward even though now we removed it
2128s also to smaller Milestones so that you
2130s get the reward right away when you hit a
2132s new public tier
2134s and then last note but not least um
2137s so so these these things like
2141s it's nice to have these little goals you
2142s can work towards do right
2144s and then we wanted to have like a
2147s a midterm goal which is not quite the
2149s length of a broad pass like it was in
2151s the past
2152s so then we thought okay let's just have
2154s a more frequent reset actually quite a
2156s few people asked for that before already
2159s so let's transition to that and
2162s somewhat arbitrary we decided to go with
2164s two weeks because I'm sure you remember
2166s the times when it was weekly
2168s so yeah so it felt like now weekly is
2170s definitely too fast but maybe bi-weekly
2172s is good enough
2174s and then we had the conversation about
2177s yeah we keep we keep adding more
2179s Brawlers if we keep resetting all those
2180s Brawlers
2181s all the time it becomes harder and
2183s harder and harder and harder and harder
2185s as we introduce new Brawlers
2187s so going away from this was then okay
2190s let's also reset less Brawlers
2192s and let's just focus on number X and
2195s after talking to our data science team
2197s we ended up with a number 20.
2199s that felt like a reasonable amount of
2201s brawlers to push in a two-week period
2205s um and at the same time then we changed
2206s the reset table as well
2209s of course we removed some tiers we tried
2211s to simplify it actually that was the
2213s intent make it simpler more clear change
2216s the reset thresholds a little
2218s well and then we ran with it for one
2220s season
2221s two weeks and we quickly realized that
2224s uh no this doesn't work
2226s and then we adjust it immediately almost
2230s actually yeah we're still in the second
2232s season though which I will say brawl
2235s stars is I feel like this is a really
2237s smart decision on the team's part is to
2239s not like really quickly backtrack and
2241s change things immediately as soon as
2243s he's noticed because sometimes things
2244s are fine over time yeah and so for you
2246s guys to like immediately go back and
2248s change it within the middle of the
2249s update to me I was like oh there's it's
2251s clear that things aren't hitting things
2252s well and you know really props to the
2254s team for making that change because it
2256s did feel
2257s it just didn't feel quite right I don't
2259s know because I like the two-week reset
2261s but
2262s there were issues so sorry for
2264s interrupting I just no no no this is
2266s good on the team that's it's one of
2268s these things where I I actually
2271s I think we realized something as part of
2273s this process there's two very
2276s distinctive group of people
2277s there's almost everyone and then there's
2279s again a small group of the top one
2282s percent of our players or so
2284s and they would like things to be more
2286s hardcore
2287s but the majority of our players are not
2289s hardcore
2290s and and so that leads to the situation
2293s where
2294s some sometimes it's very we have to make
2296s this we're listening a lot we're reading
2298s a lot of bows Twitter Reddit YouTube
2300s comments people on slack from the grader
2303s group trying to you know concile all
2306s that feedback and and try to do
2308s something with it
2309s but at the end of the day
2311s the majority of our players are not that
2313s group
2314s and they they feel the game very
2316s differently and even myself you know in
2318s this first season I was like hell this
2321s is stressful I don't have that much time
2323s to play right now and now I'm gonna the
2326s rosette is so harsh
2328s and the reward doesn't feel great and it
2332s just felt bad for us internally as well
2334s and of course the players reflected that
2336s on social media and then I'm I made this
2339s post on Twitter about it and people gave
2341s their comments which was to be honest
2343s pretty much in line with what we were
2344s thinking
2345s and then it was just clear like we need
2347s to make this more casual friendly
2349s while at the same time keeping the
2351s spirit of this alive
2353s and so we changed it to four weeks
2356s went down to 10 Brawlers so to make it
2359s much more maintainable for people to
2361s actually
2363s um and and change the reset table to
2364s just one trophy under your previous
2366s trophy threshold
2368s and we reintroduced these smaller tiers
2370s as well
2371s and as a result of that now it's much
2374s easier for casual player to actually
2376s maintain their trophies and push some of
2378s these other trophy Brawlers up in the
2380s trophies if they wanted to to build
2382s their total trophies higher
2383s it also had an added site benefit I know
2386s for some people it's still not enough
2387s but we talked about bling already
2389s we we basically quadrupled the amount of
2392s bling you get per brawler as a result of
2395s this change so the the minimum amount of
2398s bling doesn't change
2400s meaningful except that it's now much
2402s easier to get there and the high end
2404s amount doesn't change and it's also
2406s getting much easier to get there but and
2409s there are some some players depending on
2411s where the trophies are they might be
2412s getting just a little bit now but over
2414s time they will get into higher ranks and
2417s in the long run they'll be earning more
2418s bling yeah so that's the idea some
2420s people were calling it a scam they were
2421s like oh I'm getting less bling I'm like
2423s just can't just wait just wait just just
2425s a month okay just wait but but waiting
2428s is no fun right so yeah that's true but
2430s I think that's my my counter argument
2432s like and I I think we had three problems
2434s right it was like it was too many
2436s browsers for two weeks it was the trophy
2438s that we were losing it was too much and
2440s the blink amount when you see like I got
2442s 200 blink for two weeks it's it doesn't
2444s feel great right so I think we addressed
2446s two of the problems which is the
2448s Brawlers and the trophies but the amount
2450s would still be bad and I feel like
2452s everything we've done it will be
2456s um they wouldn't
2457s um let's say to be overshadowed yeah
2460s exactly and then they they wouldn't care
2463s about the change and like even if you
2466s say like yeah now it's easier to push so
2468s you can actually get more if you like
2469s put the effort this is not a clear met
2472s right so I think like the
2474s for me what would I would try to do is
2478s to make a very simple math that they can
2481s see compare before to after and then
2484s you'll see oh so there's a clear benefit
2485s now they are focusing on the value which
2488s is like the end goal of the the trophy
2491s reset and they will think it's bad now
2492s of course now I'm calling it out I'm I'm
2495s sure people like ah then he said so I
2497s agree with Danny but like maybe skip
2500s that part of the podcast and tell me
2502s your honest feedback afterwards but I
2504s think that's what's gonna happen like
2505s the change is good like I would say it's
2508s better for the players overall but it
2510s wouldn't be perceived as good because
2512s you are getting less and then it will be
2514s over overshadowing over everything
2517s so that's my tiny uh disagreement and I
2520s think it shows also that we don't need
2522s to be like 100 aligned all the time like
2525s we are aligned as a team like what the
2527s goal we want to achieve but we have like
2529s many different opinions when they're
2530s developing the everything yeah just kind
2533s of piggyback on that actually I think I
2535s think um this trophy is a great example
2537s of a of a thing where everyone is
2538s aligned the community is pretty much
2539s aligned the entire team is aligned and
2542s that's quite rare like that it happens
2543s that easily
2545s um because as we've talked about like
2546s there's many times where we go back and
2548s forth on issues endlessly it might seem
2550s because everyone's really passionate
2552s about things but this one it was clear
2554s everyone I think was like I'm getting so
2555s little and my Brawlers trophies I have
2557s none left and it's like yeah
2559s it was the same but this is still going
2561s to happen yeah yeah but it's like it's
2563s different right yeah that's the thing
2565s but we're all Orlando
2566s yeah there's like like
2569s I think you touched on that in maybe
2572s your review as well but but there's this
2576s long term
2578s I believe is it it's not it's like we're
2581s not actively working on something right
2583s now okay yeah so so to set an
2585s expectation this is just a concept an
2588s idea you're talking about but long term
2590s it's it's not like we are super happy
2592s with how the structure between trophy
2595s Road power League quests
2597s all of this how this plays together
2599s today
2600s we feel these these systems are all
2602s somewhat isolated
2604s and we don't like that and the trophy
2607s reset is one dimension of that
2609s but but it's like there's there's in in
2612s game development
2614s like often what your what you're
2616s discussing like so you're discussing
2618s about the risk level of certain features
2621s if there will be successful or not
2623s sometimes you see like an easy
2625s Improvement which is a very clear
2626s Improvement for you and the players and
2629s then sometimes you're like here's this
2631s bigger thing we have let's say
2634s Club League
2636s and we we are not happy with Club League
2640s so
2641s what are we doing with this information
2644s so are we are we just reworking the
2647s whole club League thing
2648s I can tell you like the effort of doing
2651s something like that is probably it's two
2654s to three update Cycles half of the team
2656s working on this that's that's a a lot of
2659s time investment and investment from the
2661s development side into making a change
2663s which we don't know if it will work yeah
2666s so that's that's like
2668s hmm kind of almost like a Hail Mary to
2671s do something like that well at the same
2673s time we could use this time and make
2674s smaller incremental improvements to
2676s multiple systems
2678s which will have a better impact for the
2680s game and the players
2681s so so it's like it's a
2684s it's a really tricky thing so when we're
2686s when we're talking about you know right
2688s now the the trophy changes we made
2690s that's a it's a band aid
2692s it's not it's not the final product but
2695s it's a fix which will get us there until
2698s we have a better answer to what is what
2701s it what it is we want to do because I
2704s think we all have a bigger rework in
2706s mind and it might come in pieces
2708s not in one big thing
2711s but yeah we're all not super fond of the
2713s current situation with
2715s trophies trophy wizard
2717s power league on the other side Club
2719s League over here
2721s quests and Broad pass so things that
2724s have to change to make this it's also a
2726s lot of systems which do very similar
2728s things which is like at a complexity for
2731s our players and all of that stuff
2733s where we over the years you know we
2735s introduced so many systems that the game
2736s became quite of complex when you're a
2738s new player coming into the game and it's
2740s like so easy to get overwhelmed
2742s it's it's it really is like and that's
2745s the feedback we're getting from uh
2747s there's a concept maybe if you're
2749s listening into uh Game Dev conversation
2752s the first time there's a concept called
2753s it's a user study
2755s so what game developers do regularly
2758s we we basically give people who never
2760s played the game
2762s like a device with raw stars and let
2764s them play for Timex another supervised
2767s circumstances
2768s so let's say for two weeks
2770s so we have 20 50 100 people
2774s knowing where they are from so we have
2776s you know they're all for example
2778s Americans aged around 20 years old
2783s and we can then get the feedback and
2785s compared against our players or existing
2788s players
2790s and so you can draw conclusions from
2792s that and you're usually testing specific
2793s systems or ideas and then see what's
2796s coming out of it
2798s where was I going with this
2800s you tell me I'm really excited to see
2803s where this goes
2804s what you're trying to say is that
2807s but that players it's pretty good
2808s complex players complexity are looking
2811s at that and they're saying I don't
2812s understand what this does perhaps it
2814s wasn't explained that well perhaps
2815s there's too much information presented
2818s in front of them
2819s um and so you kind of get this uh uh
2822s kind of overwhelming amounts of
2823s information and so we actually try to
2825s gate some of this so that you don't get
2827s to see all of it at once
2829s um by the way it's the same problem for
2832s players who come back to the game after
2833s not playing for a while yes you know we
2835s call those win back players you're also
2837s managing that so at any given point
2839s um in Brawl Stars there's all these
2841s different players with different
2842s motivations different amounts of time
2845s played different levels of commitment to
2846s the game and you're trying your best
2849s you're juggling kind of these balls in
2851s the air or or spinning these plates and
2853s you're trying to keep them all from
2854s breaking and a lot of the times certain
2857s ones might be closer to Breaking uh and
2861s you know it's a it's a ruthless task of
2863s prioritization to figure out what's the
2865s next bet where should that next bet be
2867s whether that's working on a new feature
2869s or improving upon existing features but
2871s also I think
2872s what to link what to what Frank was
2875s saying because like when you say like
2877s yeah like poor league has some issues or
2879s Club league has some issues like let's
2880s fix it or let's improve it like maybe
2883s the solution is a overall economical
2886s system right because like it's not like
2888s isolated just power League maybe the
2890s problem is because there are so many
2891s systems that you don't make these
2893s interesting ones so interesting so maybe
2895s the solution would be like to unify all
2897s of them or something like that so that
2899s just show like how complex one solution
2902s or one concept could be is not like
2905s league has a problem let's fix poor
2908s League it's not it's not exactly like
2909s that so like it gives you like maybe
2911s just a bit deeper so what so what you're
2913s saying is basically scrap power League
2915s trophy league club League trophy league
2917s and tier one medium trophies and do a
2919s new system that has it all together just
2922s like as an idea not actually what you
2924s guys are planning on doing which is a
2925s concept no I think that makes a lot of
2927s sense and I feel like one of the I did a
2929s stream recently with Ash
2931s and we just talked about the state of
2933s the game for three and a half hours
2934s that's what we did the whole time and I
2937s think all of our feedback literally just
2939s came to one single point was
2941s I just wish the team had more time yeah
2944s because you guys are already thinking
2946s about these things you already know the
2948s issues that we have with all these
2949s individual systems and the problem is is
2952s if you spend a lot of time to develop
2954s power league and come out with a new
2956s power League then we don't get something
2958s new and that makes the game feel boring
2961s if we don't get a new thing you know
2963s yeah and I mean it yeah and it's the
2965s same thing for a lot of features right
2966s like let's take Brawlers and star powers
2969s and gadgets and all of these things you
2970s know it's there's a lot of Legacy for
2972s example gadgets and star powers or even
2974s brawler mechanics even that would love
2976s to address we would love to address all
2978s of them we have a big list of things to
2980s do
2981s um but the people that have to make
2983s those changes are the same people for
2985s example making new Brawlers new
2987s mechanics new gears so it's we have to
2990s prioritize
2991s um quite significantly whenever we want
2993s to do something and that's why you see
2996s for example maybe a few mechanical
2997s changes which each update instead of you
2999s know a whole list of every star power
3001s ever because that's just not feasible
3004s and I think like uh I think like cairo's
3007s made like a really good summary like we
3010s just if you had if we had more time
3012s right I think people also had to take
3014s into account that this is our jobs it's
3016s like we are not working 24 hours because
3018s we have like families we have to go home
3021s yeah at some point we do and and then
3025s like um like you don't if you go to a
3027s shop and the shop is closed you don't
3029s demand like I wish this is open I want
3031s this product right now but like for
3033s games people don't have this perception
3035s if something is broken on a Sunday night
3038s like you shouldn't expect that you'll be
3041s fixed like right away because there's
3042s probably the server guy is sleeping or
3045s whatever like this I think something
3048s this is a service and it's a work like
3051s any other work like
3054s um this should be taking into account
3056s when like you demand changes or anything
3058s it's just like of course like you can
3060s express your opinion about anything you
3062s want but like what sometimes it triggers
3065s me when they demand speed where we
3068s already like work overtime sometimes we
3070s work on weekends and you see my me on
3073s Twitter interacting and like I'm not I'm
3076s doing it because I like but it's also
3078s work right it's not like I'm uh I know I

3230s to stay small and we're not gonna you
3232s know like over hire people but but we've
3235s as a company I guess decided that
3238s you know what's what's most important
3239s for us is to be able to execute against
3241s ideas for our players
3243s and so if that meets more people so be
3246s it
3247s so so that is one thing but at the same
3250s time people are not the solution to
3251s everything right and if you if you talk
3254s to people who are working in 100 200
3256s people teams
3257s you know the administrative overhead
3259s becomes bigger and bigger and bigger and
3261s bigger like we today we have like
3265s depending on the team like one producer
3268s producers are people in game teams which
3271s make sure the production is on schedule
3273s essentially so they're they're assigning
3276s tasks they're going around and the team
3277s make sure that people hitting their
3279s milestones
3281s so they're the fun police and sorry
3284s story to all producers out there you're
3286s not the one police
3287s um but the bigger your team is the more
3290s of these producer roles you need in the
3292s team
3293s so if you have a team of 200 developers
3294s you're probably in 20 30 producers
3299s um and those are people who are not
3300s developing themselves okay
3301s they're they're part of the development
3303s process but they're not putting code in
3305s they're not creating art
3307s it's just overhead
3309s um just overhead they're making sure
3310s that the game gets released or the
3312s update gets released so and that's
3313s obviously for 200 people there's a lot
3315s of systems that have to go and you can't
3316s have everybody communicating to
3317s everybody all the time otherwise it's
3319s too confusing and complex yeah but of
3322s course that that means decisions are
3323s made slower and slower and and
3325s individuals to a degree lose the the
3328s sense of responsibility for the work
3330s they're putting in right
3332s if you're if you're a client developer
3334s and broadstars today or in any Superstar
3337s game
3338s you will know exactly what you have to
3339s do and you were part of the
3341s decision-making process of what you're
3343s working on and you're likely you know
3345s also have a little bit of design in you
3347s and you you work with a game designer a
3350s UI ux artist and a server engineer and
3352s small teams to make these features
3357s there's nobody else getting in the way
3359s the team as a team decides this is what
3360s we want to work on and then you're just
3362s working on it but you have a lot of
3363s freedom and how you're doing this
3366s and
3368s yeah that's not possible when you're
3369s getting too big because then then
3371s everything gets slower and slower and
3374s slower and you cannot make these Quick
3375s Fix like some the fix we made with a
3378s with a trophy reset change
3380s we decided that literally after we saw
3382s the data looked at it with a with a one
3385s day discussion
3387s and then we were like let's make that
3389s change and so I I talked to a Serv
3392s engineer myself I read it the reset
3394s table
3395s figured out some underlying math and
3397s then we looked at it as a group said yes
3400s let's do this
3401s and then we put it in the next week
3403s and it was just done and then it was
3405s just done and then in other companies
3412s it's a game they have to like look how
3414s is this going to impact our finances yes
3416s and everything like they have to
3419s like it's a lot of overhead red tape you
3421s you can you can see that I mean it's
3423s it's all public you know but just look
3425s at other games out there which are
3427s online and when they have a buck how
3429s long it takes for them to address those
3430s bucks even if they're more you know
3432s let's say if a character doesn't work
3434s and they have to disable a character how
3436s long does it take until they can play
3437s their character again or you know if a
3440s system doesn't work they have to turn it
3441s off and how long does it take to come
3443s back compare that to the speed we have
3446s and that is that is something I'm really
3448s proud of but that only works because
3450s we're small
3452s so so that this is this balance between
3456s we want to be big enough so we can
3458s execute enough on our ideas for our
3460s players
3461s but at the same time we don't want to
3463s get too big because it makes us slow and
3466s then then everything becomes bureaucracy
3468s and
3469s uh we need you know instead of days
3471s weeks to decide stuff and make stuff
3473s happen right so we need this this uh
3477s uh startup spirit in a way that we can
3480s move really fast and that we can you
3482s know we go for lunch together we have a
3484s discussion we agree on stuff we come out
3486s of lunch and we are like let's do this
3488s now not not in the future and also like
3492s the autonomy you give to people right
3494s because like uh we can give the example
3495s from bony like we did a maintenance to
3498s fix something and then when we get Got
3499s Back Bonnie was broken what she was
3501s crashing the game and like it was me and
3503s the server guy like what do we do and
3505s like disable Bonnie like let's fix in
3507s the morning because like everybody else
3509s was sleeping because it was midnight in
3510s Finland and I was like should I call
3513s Frank or should I make the call right
3515s gladly I made the right call like I
3517s talked to Frank later I apologize if I
3520s made the wrong call but I think we
3522s should have done that and it was like me
3523s and the server guy uh and then it solved
3526s that thing in the morning so like it was
3528s like less than 24 hours broken and then
3530s Bonnie was trending on Twitter because
3533s bribes
3545s it's it's a
3547s we
3548s we really value this level of trust and
3550s autonomy and Independence and and people
3552s being able to make decisions by
3554s themselves not having to ask everyone
3557s and especially in situations like that
3559s you want speed you want the the level of
3562s urgency is there okay then you can make
3565s a decision if something is not urgent
3567s and you make a big decision that's weird
3570s you know then then you should take your
3572s time you should discuss with your
3573s colleagues but sometimes you need that
3574s speed
3575s and just for the record we do monitor
3577s ourselves 24 7. so there's 24 7 there's
3580s server Engineers on standby to jump in
3582s if something happens it's just that
3584s there's a difference between servers
3586s going haywire and there's a buck in the
3588s game right yeah so it's very different
3590s things and a lot of the bugs in the game
3593s we can we as as Danny just gave for the
3595s example turning off a brawler is
3597s something it's easy for us to do
3599s fixing a buck
3600s it's just not that easy and you're not
3603s getting you're not waking up everyone to
3604s fix a buck right now
3606s it just again goes back to
3608s sustainability right you want
3610s sustainability because if you do that
3612s then guess what tomorrow these guys
3614s they're definitely not developing
3617s so it's like it's really you need to
3619s look big picture and right yeah shout
3621s out to our server guys by the way
3625s I don't want to name names because maybe
3627s he doesn't want to
3628s um yeah he saved Brown's life in that
3631s night but they're all in the credits
3635s but they don't know who is go on the
3637s credits pick a random guy and imagine
3638s that yeah yeah

3643s follow-up and we'll get more back to the
3645s brawl Stars stuff here but I just wanna
3647s just curious from a developer's
3648s perspective
3649s um how is it does it feel with the team
3652s being 40 large that's a lot of people if
3654s you guys want to sit down and have a
3656s conversation that's 40 people just
3657s sitting down on the couch talking that's
3659s a big couch you know is it feeling like
3661s it's getting too big for supercell or
3663s are you feeling good
3666s I mean I guess everyone has their own
3667s opinion but maybe from my perspective
3668s real quick I think the good part about
3670s having still a smallish team is everyone
3672s is kind of passionate about different
3674s topics yeah so whenever you discuss
3676s something you know not everyone's going
3677s to be really into how do we do power
3678s League matchmaking for example so then
3680s you have maybe a group of five six to
3682s ten people and that's still a small
3684s group everyone gets their voice heard
3686s everyone you know you kind of sit you
3688s can have the time and um you know of
3690s course on bigger things we still gather
3692s the whole team but more most more often
3694s than not you have you know a smaller
3696s group to discuss things yeah and
3698s everyone is has the freedom to join
3700s these tests for us so baby uh we have
3703s our data scientist which is very
3704s passionate about matchmaking and bad
3706s Brandon specifically and then uh yeah
3710s she she posts like I'm gonna talk about
3711s this who Wanna who wants to join and
3713s then we sign up and then we discuss this
3716s thing so you have like those mini task
3718s force all over across the the team and
3721s it's really great to have opinionated
3722s people about topics yeah but but no it's
3724s not getting too big in my opinion and I
3726s think something people don't see so much
3728s I think that there was a question we
3730s wanted to answer later on about what was
3732s the most stressful update ever yeah
3734s that's uh yeah maybe let's let's answer
3736s that in one go
3738s um because it's it's kind of connected
3740s to this so we we got a question I'm not
3742s sure what the question was it was about
3744s like uh yeah I think it was just what
3746s was the most stressful content wise like
3748s which was
3750s the biggest workload I would say so so
3752s for me and this is uh before
3755s V and Adrian joined the team actually
3758s the we had this update in early 2020
3762s where we introduced broad pass
3765s and that happened
3767s into covet
3769s and
3770s only a month before China launched
3774s oh and and this this was the by far the
3778s most stressful period in process it was
3780s like it was not
3782s I think it was more stressful than
3784s global
3785s and we worked hard to get Global out of
3787s the way but that that was just it was
3790s just like the world had you know like
3792s decided to work against us like when you
3796s were completely changing the economic
3798s progression in the entire game by adding
3799s girl pass in there it was a massive
3801s change before it was just boxes and what
3803s when people don't have on their radar so
3805s much right they know that okay the
3806s broadcast update happened but in
3808s parallel we're working towards releasing
3810s the game in China
3811s and that is not a small undertaking okay
3813s that again is one of these projects
3815s where probably you know like a third of
3818s the team were working on this for like
3820s half a year
3822s just to get ready for the China launch
3824s because it required different
3825s infrastructure in China and it was like
3829s so these things all happen together and
3831s then we had to adjust in working at home
3834s all at the same time it was it was
3836s really stressful period for everyone on
3837s the team
3838s and uh you know what we did this
3841s actually with almost the original team
3843s so we were just over 20 people
3846s and it was immensely stressful and
3850s I came out of that you know I moved like
3852s that that summer we couldn't go on
3854s vacation right so I just spent time in a
3857s cottage in Finland
3859s and I really tried to deflate not think
3861s about the game at all and for one month
3863s I took time off one month the only thing
3866s you posted on Twitter was like pictures
3868s of your dog and food yeah it was it was
3870s fantastic I loved it yeah that's all he
3872s posts anyway
3873s I was just crying in the shower every
3875s night you mean all the important stuff
3876s Aaron true so it's like so and I came
3880s out of that and that really like gave
3882s like sometimes when you're too close to
3883s the problem it's very hard to see the
3885s solutions yeah and this this this month
3888s off I came out of that and like oh guys
3891s this is this is not working
3893s it's not what we're doing here like yes
3895s it's working right now but it's not
3897s sustainable in the long term we will
3899s people will burn out if we keep going
3901s like this
3902s so and back then
3904s um again if you watch that other podcast
3906s we made the decision to hire more people
3908s unfortunately our leadership team was
3910s okay with that because it was such a
3912s holy cow for us like it this this whole
3914s like idea of growing the team
3917s was was one of the hardest things to do
3919s before that
3920s and unfortunately very against it just
3922s as a general company because it's how
3924s she was almost founded on small teams
3926s and so for you guys to go to ilka and be
3928s like hey we want to we want to double
3930s our team size it's like whoa yeah but
3934s but you know I I basically told them
3936s look it's not gonna work for the team
3937s and it's not going to work for our
3938s players so it's a lose-lose
3940s so let's try to fix it and he agreed
3944s with me and and allowed the team to
3946s stuff up
3947s and fast forward then to today I think
3950s today the team is on the best state
3952s we've ever been
3953s like which is like we are the most
3956s functional team we've ever been we have
3958s the the best team overall we had ever
3960s essentially we have also pretty much all
3963s rolled filled there's a few additional
3965s people we could bring bring in but you
3967s know everyone who needs to be there is
3968s there right now
3969s so right now we we really feel and what
3972s people also don't see like sometimes we
3974s finished in the past like a brawler or a
3977s skin like the day before we submitted
3980s the update
3981s like literally it sounds super scary in
3984s game developer terms there was not no
3985s wiggle space for mistakes
3987s well there have been times when Danny's
3989s like hey you guys can play with this new
3990s brawler and like Hank was just
3992s completely busted he was so broken like
3995s yeah it can still happen because he
3998s would do like like thousands of damage
4000s R1 at the very smallest one and then at
4003s Max first bubble he would deal one
4005s damage it was just like and that was
4008s like a day before the update was gonna
4009s happen yeah that's that's a whole
4012s different story but in general we're now
4014s getting really ahead you know like
4017s people sometimes like
4018s they don't understand how far had we get
4020s like right now we're we're starting
4022s we're we're post pre-production for the
4026s after summer update
4027s wow so post pre-production for
4030s non-developer terms so
4033s um updates or game game production in
4036s general like there's a period which is
4037s called pre-production when you're when
4039s you're essentially planning and
4041s you know getting ready to produce stuff
4043s yeah and yeah and uh we are way beyond
4046s that state now so we're getting really
4048s hit we we know until the end of the year
4050s for example what are the classes of
4052s rollers we want to release uh we know
4055s the days we know the day the the
4058s brolawin update will arrive all these
4061s all these little details in the past it
4063s was like
4064s almost unplannable for us and now all of
4067s this is planned
4068s we're also with designs designs have
4071s been historically done while we're
4073s developing
4075s and
4076s um and now we're actually designing One
4078s update cycle before we develop
4081s at least the big picture stuff
4083s so it's not that everything is developed
4084s and ready to go for the next while it's
4086s that everything is planned and the basic
4088s structure of how it will work out is
4091s already planned yeah I think we touched
4093s on it in the last one when we talked
4095s about the big meta change yeah I think
4097s the decision was made in quarter 1 2022
4100s to make that change to remove boxes to
4103s remove boxes and then
4105s um but before the summer break we had
4107s the basic high level design ready and it
4109s was released you know in December so so
4112s like about the the series of events
4115s leading there it's that's a huge change
4117s for us as a team how we work compared to
4119s how we work before so it's way less
4122s stressful now to do this we're not
4124s burning out people
4125s is sustainable
4127s and on top of that we can do more of our
4129s place than we did in the past and I
4131s think you know we're producing now the
4132s highest number of of content we've ever
4134s produced actually the amount of skins
4136s pins everything we're throwing out there
4138s the the productivity of the features
4141s it's we've never been at this level of
4143s productivity as a team and at the same
4146s time it's the healthiest team we ever
4148s had and the team with the best morale we
4150s ever had if you if you're in our team
4152s space if you could be a little fly on
4154s the wall you would hear a lot of
4155s laughter every day and that that's for
4158s me as a as a lead of this team of course
4160s is like I had super gratifying you know
4162s super gratifying it's like you just sit
4164s there and you see people actually are
4166s fun at work and they like each other and
4167s they're like working with each other and
4169s yes sometimes we have heated arguments
4172s but we're we're always we're arguing but
4175s we're arguing about things we're not
4177s like I'm not passionate about the game
4178s we're not I'm not like Danny I hate your
4181s guts it's like Danny this thing this
4184s thing is this doesn't work and try to
4186s explain it and argue through it and like
4188s try to see both perspectives
4190s so it's really like it just feels good
4193s it just feels really good so right now I
4195s think we're in a pretty sweet spot we
4197s can still grow a little
4198s but um yeah it's good I mean you guys
4201s should say something I mean I just like
4203s how we went from most stressful update
4205s ever to best team ever right that's
4207s that's not that's not good I mean that's
4209s not that's not bad but but you know it
4211s was a yeah and we were talking about
4212s yeah it's like two and a half three
4214s years from going from
4217s this is not sustainable this is
4219s unhealthy for us to win a really good
4221s place so it's not a fast Solution by any
4224s means
4225s yeah
4226s V do you want to go next what has been
4228s stressful for you uh I mean I think on
4231s some designs we could be further ahead
4233s we actually hired a second designer
4235s which I don't think you've met yet uh
4237s Katie but
4238s um and that's been really helpful on
4240s because on the design because the way
4242s that things have to work is design has
4244s to in some ways have a pretty well done
4248s design before engineering and art and
4251s all of the implementation beyond that
4254s can happen and so and the problem with
4256s the design some is sometimes
4259s um either we're not necessarily sure if
4262s this was the right design like it could
4263s change
4265s um due to feedback on the team due to
4267s other reasons and so the design changes
4269s but so if the design so historically if
4271s design changes while you're in Flight of
4274s making that next update it's really
4276s costly on your engineers and on any art
4279s that's been done and whatnot and now
4281s we're in a cycle we're actually kind of
4282s you know Jeff is uh the the new designer
4286s on the team and we're kind of like leap
4288s frogging a little bit so we have a
4289s little bit more where I'm focused on One
4291s update he's focused on the next and we
4293s kind of can tell you turns obviously we
4295s still sync quite often on that stuff but
4297s and also with the team but
4299s um that in that sense you know it's been
4302s better
4303s um but yeah overall I I think design we
4307s could probably still move a little bit
4308s faster if I'm being completely honest on
4311s like what what we're making but um it's
4314s been a lot better you can you can hear a
4316s simulation is still ongoing
4318s yeah he has never he's never designed a
4321s feature which is shipped tomorrow
4323s thank goodness thank goodness
4326s yeah
4328s well that's really awesome I like to
4329s hear that and you know what
4331s um I don't know how much I can really
4333s share but I know that you guys have
4334s shared systems and stuff like that with
4336s uh like myself and some other people to
4340s say hey what are your what's your gut
4341s thoughts on this how do you feel about
4343s this before it actually even gets
4344s finalized and I mean sometimes that
4347s happens months before it when it's just
4348s on paper and nothing's actually
4349s developed and stuff like that and it's
4351s it's really awesome for the game and I
4353s think that people even see the fact that
4355s the team is in a really good healthy
4356s State as well because I'm also feeling
4358s like man things are really good right
4360s now things are really good in Brawl at
4362s the moment I mean we have things we want
4364s to be improved but
4366s you know it's pretty good yeah it's
4369s really positive right now for bro
4371s yeah
4372s what was for you then it's stressful the
4375s most stressful update I think it was the
4377s star Road the removal of boxes because
4380s like um like we hit we had the Omega box
4383s campaign and that was like an added
4386s layer to to my work on top of everything
4389s that's going on right so there's bro
4391s talk there's the war finals that which I
4393s was working also like I was also working
4395s in our finals and then we had like to
4398s plan a campaign and execute and like um
4402s and and then up update the results
4405s because it was it we didn't have any
4406s feature for that so they could update by
4408s hand like we are checking on data and
4410s then we had like a script that was
4412s giving me the numbers every morning and
4413s then I had to update every day so yes
4417s like plenty of campaign executing it uh
4420s on top of my daily work it was very
4423s stressful for me and I think like I'm
4427s I'm really uh Happy how things went
4430s because like I think the video didn't
4432s like quality I think the video was
4433s really fun me punching boxes I think it
4435s was a nice thing to do
4439s um like the the Cadence of content that
4443s we announced that we announced an
4444s announcement in the World Finals I think
4446s that was really cool because it created
4448s like a really hypey moment like very
4450s different from what we used to do
4453s and then
4455s and then on the top of that the the
4458s update itself was massive we had like
4460s three browers one for Quest which is a
4463s new feature
4464s um the Star Road like removing boxes to
4467s change the whole economy of the game
4468s which like sometimes it feels like ah
4470s don't do think it like this is simple
4472s it's not because like tied to that there
4474s is the whole economy of the game plus we
4477s added Fame at the end because there was
4479s nothing before it's like this update was
4481s gigantic and then I had to work on top
4484s of like this extra
4486s uh things to Hype it up the update so I
4489s think for me that was the most stressful
4490s I think maybe the most rewarding
4493s um ah on top of that I was doing the
4495s brolies Because yeah right
4498s on the side
4500s yeah
4504s yeah yeah
4506s that goes goes back to this like the
4510s independence thing at supercell yeah
4511s like like often like Danny is just like
4514s the the first time you did it you just
4515s came to my desk saying hey Frank I want
4517s to spend eggs yeah I need money I was
4520s like what the hell
4521s and then but then you know I was like oh
4524s that sounds great let's do it
4526s but again it's like
4528s if you're if you're your own if you're
4531s your own decision maker in many many
4533s ways it's it's sometimes really hard to
4536s control yourself control because you
4538s can't do anything so it's just what
4541s should you be doing should you should
4542s you be doing anything so saying no it's
4544s like uh or like realizing that no I
4548s actually you know brothers would be
4549s really nice right now
4551s but it's not the most important thing
4552s right and I don't want to burn myself
4555s out yeah

4614s released everything that you guys talked
4615s about except for the PVE and the weekend
4617s event uh rework with it you actually
4619s talked about a lot on the last podcast
4621s and as just a just a brief explanation
4624s of what that was was that you weren't
4626s you tried it you weren't happy with how
4628s it came out with so you want to develop
4629s it some more
4630s um but push that to the side for now
4632s what are you willing to share about the
4635s future of brawl Stars updates and what
4637s you are working on right now
4639s we are not done with the list by the way
4641s of of the things we gave everyone in
4644s August there's a few items which we have
4646s not mentioned so you should re-watch

4652s so so there's still a few loose ends uh

4658s always new stuff we're working on

4662s feedbacks uh from this transition to

4672s few things going on but we have the
4673s intention with a summer brawl talk to

4677s other things we are focusing on next

4704s work together does this make sense
4706s should we do and when to change it

4749s that as a community just knowing what's
4751s on your radar and we will still have
4754s some wiggle space to take the community
4756s feedback and sentiment about features
4758s into consideration so I think like the
4761s gears update
4763s to go back there sorry like it's it's
4767s really one of those things which
4770s I know the community was really really
4773s annoyed by the whole thing right you
4776s were but but there's a but like of
4779s course we we think we resolved most of
4781s it not everything but most of it
4785s um it's in a much better place today
4786s than where it was I guess we can all
4788s agree on that
4790s um if we're done with it I don't know
4791s yet but but you know it's it's what it
4794s is today
4795s um in the short term we don't have any
4797s intention to introduce for example power
4799s level 12.
4801s like that there was a nice reassurance
4803s it's like we appreciate that and and for
4806s the record it might happen eventually I
4808s I think I just tweeted about this to
4810s someone who asked or posted on Reddit or
4813s something so it's a possibility that we
4815s will have power 12 at some point but
4818s before that what would happen need to
4820s happen is that enough of our players are
4822s at Power 11 for the Brawlers they play
4825s and we would need to have a really nice
4827s gameplay carrot which makes it actually
4829s you know worth your while to get there
4832s um else we want to it
4834s so
4836s again I lost I lost my train of thought
4845s the learning so but the gears update it
4849s actually taught us an important lesson
4851s because we were we were not internally
4854s as a team we were not fully aligned on
4855s the gears update
4856s there was like initially yeah initially
4859s initially like when when I released it
4861s like the the cost of things you know
4863s they and it was a combination of things
4865s there was also of course the club league
4866s with the golden ticket and so there were
4869s multiple things which were
4871s where we didn't have the time to discuss
4872s them properly as a team right where
4875s where we now we say we're getting hit
4876s with game design that involves all these
4879s discussions around it making sure the
4880s team has alignment or sometimes agrees
4882s to disagree and move on but at least
4884s everyone should have a chance to you
4886s know have the voices heard there should
4887s be a proper discussion about things
4890s um
4892s a year ago or like no yeah yeah a year
4895s ago the PVE update we had planned to
4899s roll out we would have launched
4901s right so now we made the decision not to
4904s launch it because we had that discussion
4908s we had we looked we took a serious look
4911s at we invested time to develop it
4912s already but we still made the decision
4915s not to continue not to roll it out
4917s because we thought it's not hitting
4920s Quality Bar the team has in mind for
4922s this
4924s big and and that is like very different
4926s to what we did a year before with the
4929s gears where we did not have this this
4932s sanity check the step where we're like
4934s you know we really invested like half a
4937s year on doing this
4939s but now that we are here is it the right
4942s move to release it even though the
4944s community will be disappointed if
4945s there's this feature is not coming
4948s but still was it the right move
4950s and and I think so so today what this
4954s taught us as a team is to be much more
4956s like
4957s I think we're much more critical about
4958s what we release we're also designing
4961s things earlier now and this combination
4962s of this I think will lead but already
4965s led to better updates
4966s if you're looking just back from this or
4968s even like from before the Star Road from
4970s the October update on last year to the
4973s updates we've released this year so far
4976s I mean judging by you your very
4978s scientific scoring methodology I I think
4981s we're doing pretty well yeah and also
4984s like if you look at the communities and
4985s where it was in the beginning of well
4987s like summer 2022 versus where it's now
4990s it's very different
4991s it's very different I you know like of
4994s course you have the occasional guy on
4996s Twitter or Reddit who is not happy with
4998s something and that's fine
5001s but but overall holistically the
5003s sentiment is so much better we're in so
5005s much better place

5312s lobby and like nobody's gonna be around

5318s come to take us to the next location and
5320s so everybody was like in the lobby area
5322s and they were like hey what if you they
5324s look like they're playing against you
5325s there because we were both like really
5326s you know when you play duels it's like
5328s sweaty right it's intense it's super
5330s sweaty and uh and we play the best of

5334s and I won by like a very thin margin
5338s and I just felt horrible because like I
5343s realized you realize that like what is
5344s the point that I've proven that it was
5347s marginally better than this other person
5348s on the team meanwhile now he feels kind
5352s of crappy and he's like afterwards she

5355s we should do a rematch sometime

6005s concern now for All Stars is for all

6010s friendly in my in comparison to most

6017s a brawl box or something like that so

6075s games where it's just normal that it's

6078s and there's technically no issue with

6085s we didn't like that it created this UNFI
6087s unfair unfair side of things that some
6090s people got a lot and some people got
6092s very little and that some people in very
6094s you know like who started at the same
6095s moment had like very different
6097s experience based on that
6099s and so that we addressed
6101s but at the same time we do understand
6103s that it's really exciting to it it was a
6107s really exciting moment to you know see a
6109s bigger number there on the broad box
6111s and yet there you're like oh oh this
6113s this could be like something big this
6115s could be great for my for my account

6120s and as a team we discussed like how can

6123s how can we bring that back
6125s without you know without thinking about

6130s way that that that fits the game that is
6133s not literally bringing boxes back and so

6137s exciting moments you know every day in
6141s the life of our players
6143s which give a little bit of this
6145s of this random moment where it could be
6148s something really small
6149s or it could be something super exciting

6158s completely getting rid of the new system

6163s no the new system is not going anywhere

6802s player look compared to everyone else
6805s and if they don't stick around as long
6807s as people play 3v3
6809s that tells you something right

6813s so I think while Dany is right that it's
6816s it's scary to make a change in Showdown
6819s but we we have this world where we have
6821s modifiers right we have some modifiers
6824s in place already
6825s it would be relatively easy for us to
6828s make some smaller tweaks here and there
6829s and try something more drastic in the
6831s regular Showdown because we can just
6833s apply a modifier to all the maps and
6835s rotation right that doesn't need us
6837s really to change Showdown we could also
6840s change the rewards we're giving you know
6843s how many people are getting trophies
6845s like who's getting trophies for what
6848s and I think there must be a level where
6850s we we might not want to go to or maybe
6853s we want to go places where only the best
6854s player in the team in the in the room

6969s three to six updates would complain that
6972s we're only releasing Brawlers and skins
6974s so so so the it's it's a tricky thing so

6981s mean we are actually all fans of map
6983s maker it's like map maker like had such
6987s a good impact on browser when it was
6988s released
6989s and there's loads of opportunities there
6991s and it's very clear that our players
6992s want to create stuff and play stuff
6994s and we also we're not happy with how it
6997s is today I think the editor itself is
6998s fine it's mostly like the you know how
7001s you green light maps for example
7003s and of course there could be much more
7005s functionality behind map maker
7008s and yeah in theory we'd love to do that
7011s but but yeah right now it's just ideas
7013s and again it's a it's a big gamble for
7016s us to take if that has any positive
7018s impact on the game yeah right exactly
7022s yeah we've also talked about mode maker
7024s we're super excited about that you know
7026s there's clearly something positive and
7028s this was shown by a bunch of content
7030s creators OJ included which was that you
7032s know you could have really compelling
7034s user generated content that can keep
7036s other players entertained for you know
7038s months but uh and and we certainly do
7042s not want to Discount how important that
7045s is in a game like brawl Stars which is
7047s in a lot of ways a game a collection of
7050s games
7050s and it's more that there's some other
7052s things that are kind of of higher
7054s priority that we want to address first
7056s and this comes down to ruthless
7057s prioritization and so it is not
7061s currently sort of what we're actively
7063s working on
7064s but the future is long

7073s bring from another game to Pro and why

7134s to wait and then you have to check uh
7135s this is it the player I want to play
7137s with and then you suggest a brawler and
7138s then like I don't want to play this
7139s brother and I ah I just want to play a
7142s game so like something like this is like
7143s an automated uh looking forward thing
7145s you want better looking for a team Yes
7146s actually I do have a quick response as
7147s well which was if you think about brawl
7149s Stars when I first started you know a
7151s lot of people fell in the game because
7152s the 3v3 format
7155s um we could do better at getting people
7157s to party up properly and I think that
7160s would be very helpful and you know some
7162s of the things that these two find
7163s General have just mentioned also kind of
7165s illustrate the point that it's trying to
7167s being made here is I think we do a lot
7169s more to improve you know partying up
7170s whether that's with strangers or with
7172s friends than we currently do so maybe I
7174s recently on my channel yeah majority of
7177s people play with randoms a majority of
7179s people do not like playing with randoms
7182s I don't know if that's actually true but
7184s the sentiment on my channel it's like I
7188s we we asked this question at a point in
7190s a survey
7191s and there was a surprising amount of
7193s people who wanted to play solo actually
7195s um so it's not like some people don't
7197s what have they just want to play a game
7199s in a fun they don't want to think about
7201s like finer people and making friends and
7204s all of that sure but I I do I do agree
7208s like we can do a much better job with
7210s social in general yeah yeah so so I
7212s think like even the club experience is
7214s not great you know like you know you you
7217s reach 900 trophies your place in a club
7220s um because of how the the underlying
7224s technology works there's a good chance
7226s that you will be in a dead Club
7228s so and that doesn't feel great so so
7231s like this but again like going back to
7233s this 3v3 thing

7237s um and I think I'm not alone on this
7239s table at least the best moments of
7241s playing browsers is with with two other
7243s people and that's usually done in Adrian

7323s hype you know so I I don't know but if
7325s brawl Stars could somehow incorporate
7327s really sweaty fun PVE elements into the
7331s game in a balanced way so multiple
7333s Brawlers could be viable I would love

7337s would it have to be balanced to be fun

7343s also fun as long as the boss fights are
7346s also unbalanced you know I think maybe
7348s there's only but but also I like variety
7351s and so I would like lots of different
7354s really strong bosses maybe one clears
7356s swarms and so you want to do heavy
7360s hitting damage dealers and maybe one
7362s spawns swarms so you have to do AOE
7364s damage and like I want lots of different
7365s types of things you guys are game
7367s developers you've played a fantastic PVE

7373s what I would love if that could be in
7374s Brawl Stars oh it would be awesome you

7494s is how would you feel if you couldn't

7501s feel if you could spend gems to switch

7505s of ideas being thrown around and all of
7508s our feedback was just let everybody
7510s switch all the time don't mess with it
7512s because otherwise there will be people
7513s as frustrated and upset
7515s um and I think that that goes back to
7517s kind of what I said earlier is that I
7519s love that you guys have plans for the
7521s future because you are bringing some of
7522s these Concepts to us and we're not the
7524s end-all be all we're not developers but
7527s we're really good at giving a gut check
7529s of how the audience would respond to
7532s stuff because we're only focusing on
7536s player reaction if people don't watch

7626s will be like blurred nobody will care

7635s the thing that is like um like we wanted
7638s to do that to call some friction and I
7640s have like the players like should I buy
7641s this brawler and then we can monetize

7647s guys need to protect the game's
7649s longevity absolutely and there was a
7651s valid reason behind it yeah and the
7652s thing is that like it's not that it's
7655s easily comparable to what we had before
7656s because the system doesn't exist like if
7658s there is a possibility to release like
