Yeah, setting your pagefile to 32GB is gonna help a lot with these crashes and likely allow you some more workshop content.

Another option is to lower texture quality. The game then loads all textures at a lower resolution, which will lower RAM usage (this is what's eating up most of your RAM). Minimum system requirements aren't expected to run the game at the highest settings, but I totally get wanting to have nice textures. So maybe you'll prefer the pagefile option.

Lastly make sure you aren't running all sorts of other programs while the game runs. Browsers eat up a bunch of RAM as well, so close down anything you don't absolutely need while the game runs.

Originally posted by Stormie: Ok, so...went to load my save on a 45k pop city that had 2 mods (Quay Anarchy and 81 Tiles) and no assets, and got the crash. Close all other apps, deleted the mods, made the page file edits, and it still crashes.

This is *absurd*. I well exceed even the recommended settings, my rig can run stuff like Fallen Order and RDR2 on ultra and maintain 60fps, so it ain't a texture thing, and a 5 year old game, even with all this DLC, should not be so resource heavy that it can't run it's own vanilla state beyond a small city.

Do you get the crash with a pop up saying something along the lines of "Oops the game has crashed..."? If yes, then it mentions a folder, which contains files we'll need to have a look at. That will confirm if this is memory related or not. To find that folder, go to your games Library on Steam, right click on Cities: Skylines, select Properties, go to the tab Local Files and click the button Browse local files. Then find the folder and upload the files somewhere. There's some suggestions for sites you can use in the guide below.

If you don't get the pop up, then we still have the output log. This guide explains where to find it.
