The vast majority of mods are updated within the first week of a new patch, most within 24 hours of the patch release. We work with modders providing early access to the update so they can prepare updates ahead of time, and they put in a tremendous amount of work to make each patch as smooth as they can for everyone who plays with mods.

When we update the game, whether we're adding new features or fixing bugs, the game's code changes. Mods that reference the code which has changed will need to be updated to account for those changes, and that means waiting for updates and occasionally switching to new versions of mods. While it may not be the fun part of modding, it is unfortunately a part of the deal. This is why you are warned that the game may not work as expected when you first enabled mods. We try to provide you with the information you need to make an informed decision about whether modding is for you or not.

I understand it's frustrating to have your game time interrupted, but not fixing bugs or not providing our players with new content is not a better option for us. However, this update marks the last major content release for Cities: Skylines. Beyond this, we have another patch planned to fix more bugs, which will hopefully only affect a minimal amount of mods.
