Financial Districts is out and with it patch 1.16.0-f3. If you don’t use mods, then enjoy the new content and check out the patch notes below!

Patch notes[forum.paradoxplaza.com]

However, if you do play modded, you will be greeted with a notification when you start the game alerting you that some mods you are subscribed to haven't been created for the current version of the game. Opening the Content Manager will show you which mods were not made for the current version of the game, however, this does not mean the mod is broken. The notification is there to help troubleshoot but to determine which mods are known to be broken and which have been fixed, please see the list on the spreadsheet which can be accessed by clicking List Incompatible Mods.

Modders have been hard at work preparing updates, but please be patient while they apply those to the Workshop and sort out any issues that may not have been found in testing. Check the spreadsheet regularly to see which mods are still needing an update.

If you play with a lot of mods
  • Check the list of broken mods below
  • Don’t overwrite - save your city as a new savegame
  • Wait for mods to update - or help see what mods need an update.
  • Play unmodded while you wait using the -noWorkshop launch option

Will I be able to continue my existing city? Most likely yes, but you will need to check your mods and remove/replace broken mods. See the 1.15.1 Patch tab of this spreadsheet:
https://pdxint.at/BrokenModCS

Will ‘insert mod’ be updated? Most likely yes! Our awesome modding community is working hard to find issues and update mods, but it’s important to remember, they do this as a hobby so it may take a little while. However, sometimes updates come in the form of a brand new mod, in those cases make sure to unsubscribe the original!

Which mods are broken? For the most up-to-date information on which mods are broken, check out the community-maintained spreadsheet:
https://pdxint.at/BrokenModCS

Which mods do I absolutely need to load my city? This is not a complete list, but can hopefully give you some idea of what mods to keep an eye on before loading your city.

Network mods
These include any mods that add networks. Anything in the Roads category on Steam is not counted, only those in the Mod category.

  • Extra Train Station Tracks
  • German Roads
  • Metro Overhaul Mod
  • More Train Tracks
  • Network Extensions 2
  • One Way Train Tracks
  • Tram Station Track

Major mods
Mods that have a large impact on how the game works are generally needed for your city to work as it should. These include, but are not limited to:

  • 81 tiles
  • Any Road Outside Connections
  • Custom Zone Mixer
  • Improved Lane Connections v2
  • Lifecycle Rebalanced Revisited
  • More CitizenUnits
  • More PathUnits
  • More Vehicles
  • Nursing Homes with Eldercare
  • Optimised Outside Connections
  • Ploppable RICO
  • Realistic Population (or other mods that affect population numbers)
  • Reversible Tram AI [BETA]
  • Traffic Manager: President Edition
  • Transfer Controller
  • Transfer Manager CE
  • Transport Line Manager

How do I play unmodded temporarily? While you can’t play your modded city, why not check out the new content without mods? You can easily do this by adding the -noWorkshop launch option to Steam. To do this right-click on the game in your Library, select Properties, and type in -noWorkshop (exactly like that) in the box at the bottom, and close the window to apply. This disables all workshop content.

Just make sure to start a new city and save it as a new file, so you don’t overwrite your existing city.

Originally posted by pdiddy: So basically all the most useful (and realistically, essential) mods like lane marking tool, traffic manager, any for roads that aren't useless, don't work anymore. Cool......

Intersection Marking Tool and Traffic Manager: President Edition have been updated for the latest patch. If you're having issues with those mods, I recommend you first check your subscribed mods against the list of known broken mods, both the first tab and the tab named Patch 1.16.0: https://pdxint.at/BrokenModCS

If you don't have any known broken or conflicting mods, then I suggest unsubscribing the ones not working correctly, wait for Steam to remove the files, then subscribe to them again. This forces a fresh install of the mod files and should fix any issues caused by files being corrupted or not having updated properly.

If none of that helps, please make a report on our support forum. We need to see your output_log.txt (called player.log on Mac and Linux) to be able to help, which cannot be attached here on Steam.

Depending on your operating system the log can be found here:

\CitiesSkylines\Cities_Data\output_log.txt

Mac OS X
~/Library/Logs/Unity/Player.log

years of my work is gone thanks to you guys.

I'm afraid there is a risk when you install 3rd party modifications to the game. We cannot guarantee they work, which is why there is a warning when you first enable mods. We work with the modders giving them a chance to prepare updates and this thread exists to help you find the information you need to troubleshoot. But unfortunately, this does not mean there is not or will never be a risk when installing mods.

If you need help recovering a save or figuring out which mods are causing issues, then please make a report on our support forum. We need to see your output_log.txt (called player.log on Mac and Linux) to be able to help, which cannot be attached here on Steam.

Infinite Demand and Game Anarchy are listed as replacements for the broken Demand Master. If one doesn't work, I recommend trying the other. Make sure to check their descriptions for any known incompatibilities

Originally posted by ZombieSlayer: Is there a way to roll back to a previous version in steam??

No there isn't, we don't provide more versions of the game. It also wouldn't help anything as mods updating are likely not compatible with the older version - or at least this would require more work by the modders to achieve.

Originally posted by zboss79: i ran the compatibility mod and replaced some broken or out of date mods. Now my save games wont load. What do I do next? I can't bring myself to start a new city. Too many hours in my saved games.
(edit) I found I can go to Content Manager and click 'Saved Games'. Select the game I wanted to play and click "subscribe all". That reloaded my mods and I'm back to playing again. Sweet.

When removing mods it's a good idea to check their workshop page. Mods like Metro Overhaul Mod and Network Extensions require more steps before you can remove them as the save depends on them to load properly.
