I'm sorry to hear you're having problems with the game! I'd be happy to try and help figure out what's causing it, so we can get you back to playing the game.

Do you get a Windows "Blue screen of death" or the "game loaded broken so the map is all blue" problem?

And do you have the same issues when you add the launch options -noWorkshop and -disableMods to Steam and test on a new game? This excludes mods as a cause and helps us narrow down the issue, which in turn gets us closer to a solution that will work for you.

How To Set Launch Options
  • Right-click on the game title under the Library in Steam and select Properties.
  • Enter the launch options you wish to apply in the box (be sure to separate each code with a space). Should look like this:
    -noWorkshop -disableMods
  • Close the game's Properties window and launch the game.

When modding it's important to understand that this is unsupported content. Mods are created by other players as a hobby, and while we think having the option to mod games adds to the experience, we cannot guarantee that mods won't cause problems. So it is expected that there is some extra troubleshooting needed when you mod a game.

We may need to set up a custom-sized pagefile for you. Unfortunately, the way Windows handles automatic small increases of the pagefile comes with some instability, so having a large pagefile to avoid the frequent changes in its size makes the game much more stable. I recommend setting it to 32000 MB.

Here are a few guides on how to set it up. Make sure to restart the PC to apply the settings, and that you have enough free harddisk space for it.

If you still have problems running the unmodded game after this, please do let me know!
