Hello to all you lovely majors! You might have spotted me around the community as I’ve been around for years, but if you haven’t then let me introduce myself:

I’m Avanya and I spend my free time making assets for Cities: Skylines or helping out where I can. I’ve been a moderator here on Steam for about a year, I help update AquilaSol’s list of broken mods and I do a “survival guide” every patch to help everyone, who mods the game, get back to playing.

Now I’m taking on a new role as community ambassador for Cities, which means I’m around regularly to help keep Steam organized and a friendly place to be – with help from our awesome volunteer moderators! I will also be passing on information from Paradox to you and keep them updated on what’s up with the community.

I look forward to spending more time with you all! :steamhappy: Cities: Skylines and the wonderful community that surrounds it has been a big part of my life for the past 5 years and will continue to for hopefully years (Maybe I’ll even be able to finish my to-do list of assets for the game)

Feel free to ask any questions you might have and I’ll do my best to answer them. ^^

I have only one question to pass on to the absentee publishers...
To what extent do they acknowledge the discontent they have caused with the adoption of their new launcher?

Thank you! Hopefully I can help make them feel less absent, even though I can tell you that they aren't. I'm not the only one reading the boards here, I'm just way more visible. :)

Locking and deleting threads is part of moderating. If we never did that, then there would be many threads with nearly identical discussions, which has the unfortunate effect of drowning out other posts.

The launcher is a great example of this, as it spawned many threads. Locking or deleting those were never about shutting down anyone's ability to voice their oppinion, though I can understand the frustration anyone must have felt when a thread was locked or deleted - especially for those who had missed already open threads.

I stand by the calls made by me and the other moderators here. There were still many other posts from players having questions or issues in game, which didn't deserve to disppear into obscurity because we got a launcher for CS.

Does that mean we get it right all the time? No, ofc not. And that's why communication is so important. For the launcher situation it was pointed out that the active discussions disappeared off the front page from time to time, so leaving a link before closing a thread would help people find where to go. I have discussions set to show 50 topics, so I don't notice that and wouldn't have thought about that need without feedback.

If I can do something to make moderating feel less frustrating, I'd really love to hear that feedback. Whether it's making something more clear, talking about how things work or something completely different, it's a conversation I'm happy to have.

Oh no, I'm sorry you're getting messages like that! :O I'm afraid I have no powers outside the community hub, so I can't do anything on profiles. Steam will have to deal with that. :/ I suggest blocking the person if you haven't already. *hugs*
